Job 35
1 ELIHU spake moreover, and said,
Respondeu mais Elihu e disse:
2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
Tens por direito dizeres: Maior é a minha justiça do que a de Deus?
3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
Porque disseste: De que te serviria ele? ou de que mais me aproveitarei do que do meu pecado?
4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
Eu te farei resposta, a ti e aos teus amigos contigo.
5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
Atenta para os céus, e vê; e contempla as mais altas nuvens, que são mais altas do que tu
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
Se pecares, que efetuarás contra ele? se as tuas transgressões se multiplicarem, que lhe farás.
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
Se fores justo, que lhe darás? ou que receberá da tua mão?
8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
A tua impiedade danaria outro tal como tu; e a tua justiça aproveitaria ao filho do homem.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
Por causa da grandeza da opressão fazem clamar aos oprimidos: exclamam por causa do braço dos grandes.
10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
Porém ninguém diz: Onde está Deus que me fez, que dá salmos na noite.
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
Que nos faz mais doutos do que os animais da terra, e nos faz mais sábios do que as aves dos céus.
12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Ali clamam, porém ele não responde, por causa da arrogância dos maus.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
Certo é que Deus não ouvirá a vaidade, nem atentará para ela o Todo-poderoso.
14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
E quanto ao que disseste, que o não verás: juízo há perante ele; por isso espera nele.
15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
Mas agora, ainda que a ninguém a sua ira visitasse, nem advertisse muito na multidão dos pecadores:
16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
Logo Job em vão abriu a sua boca, e sem ciência multiplicou palavras.
