Jeremiah 8
1 AT that time, saith the Lord, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves:
Naquele tempo, diz o Senhor, tirarão os ossos dos reis de Judá, e os ossos dos seus príncipes, e os ossos dos sacerdotes, e os ossos dos profetas, e os ossos dos habitantes de Jerusalém para fora das suas sepulturas;
2 And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
E expô-los-ão ao sol, e à lua, e a todo o exército do céu, a quem tinham amado, e a quem tinham servido, e após quem tinham ido, e a quem tinham buscado e diante de quem se tinham prostrado: não serão recolhidos nem sepultados; serão por esterco sobre a face da terra.
3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the Lord of hosts.
E escolher-se-á antes a morte do que a vida de todo o resto dos que restarem desta raça maligna, em todos os lugares dos que restam, onde os lancei, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
4 Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return?
Dize-lhes mais: Assim diz o Senhor: Porventura cairão e não se tornarão a levantar? desviar-se-ão, e não voltarão?
5 Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
Porque pois se desvia este povo de Jerusalém com uma apostasia tão continua? retém o engano, não quer voltar.
6 I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.
Bem escutei e ouvi; não falam o que é reto, ninguém há que se arrependa da sua maldade, dizendo: Que fiz eu? Cada um se volta para a sua carreira, como um cavalo que arremete com ímpeto na batalha.
7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the Lord.
Até a cegonha no céu conhece os seus tempos determinados; e a rola, e o grou e a andorinha atentam para o tempo da sua vida; mas o meu povo não conhece o juízo do Senhor.
8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.
Como pois dizeis: Nós somos sábios, e a lei do Senhor está conosco? eis que deveras em vão trabalha a falsa pena dos escribas.
9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the Lord; and what wisdom is in them?
Os sábios foram envergonhados, foram espantados e presos: eis que rejeitaram a palavra do Senhor; que sabedoria pois teriam?
10 Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
Portanto darei suas mulheres a outros, e as suas herdades a quem as possua; porque desde o menor até ao maior cada um deles se dá à avareza: desde o profeta até ao sacerdote, cada um deles usa de falsidade.
11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
E curam a quebradura da filha de meu povo levianamente, dizendo: Paz, paz; e não há paz.
12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.
Porventura envergonham-se de fazerem abominação? antes de maneira nenhuma se envergonham, nem sabem que coisa é envergonhar-se; portanto cairão entre os que caem e tropeçarão no tempo da sua visitação, diz o Senhor.
13 I will surely consume them, saith the Lord: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.
Certamente os apanharei, diz o Senhor: já não há uvas na vide, nem figos na figueira, e até a folha caiu; e o que lhes dei passará deles.
14 Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the Lord our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the Lord.
Porque nos assentamos aqui? juntai-vos e entremos nas cidades fortes, e ali nos calemos; pois já o Senhor nosso Deus nos fez calar e nos deu a beber água de fel; porquanto pecamos contra o Senhor.
15 We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!
Espera-se a paz, mas não há bem: o tempo da cura, e eis o terror.
16 The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.
Já desde Dan se ouve o ronco dos seus cavalos: toda a terra está tremendo à voz dos rinchos dos seus fortes; e veem, e devoram a terra, e a abundância nela, a cidade e os que habitam nela.
17 For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.
Porque eis que envio entre vós serpentes e basiliscos, contra os quais não há encantamento, e vos morderão, diz o Senhor.
18 When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.
O meu refrigério está em tristeza: o meu coração desfalece em mim.
19 Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the Lord in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities?
Eis que a voz do clamor da filha do meu povo já se ouve da terra mui remota; porventura não está o Senhor em Sião? ou não está o seu rei nela? porque me provocaram à ira com as suas imagens de escultura, com as vaidades dos alheios.
20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
Já se passou a sega, já se acabou o verão, e nós não estamos salvos.
21 For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me.
Já estou quebrantado pela quebradura da filha do meu povo: já ando de preto: o espanto se apoderou de mim.
22 Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?
Porventura não há unguênto em Gilead? ou não há lá médico? porque pois não teve lugar a cura da filha do meu povo?
