Deuteronomy 24

1 WHEN a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

Wenn ein Mann ein Weib nimmt und sich ihr vermählt, und es geschieht, daß sie nicht Gnade findet in seinen Augen, weil er eine Blöße an ihr gefunden hat, daß er einen Scheidebrief schreibt und in ihre Hand gibt und sie aus seinem Haus entläßt;

2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife.

Und sie aus seinem Hause ausgeht, und geht und eines anderen Mannes wird;

3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

Und der andere Mann sie auch haßt und ihr einen Scheidebrief schreibt, und selben ihr in die Hand gibt, und sie aus seinem Haus entläßt, oder wenn der andere Mann stirbt, der sie sich zum Weibe genommen hat,

4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the Lord: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

So kann ihr erster Gemahl, der sie entließ, nicht umkehren, sie zu nehmen, daß sie sein Weib sei, nachdem sie verunreinigt worden war, denn ein Greuel ist es vor Jehovah, und du sollst keine Sünde bringen über das Land, das Jehovah, dein Gott, dir zum Erbe gibt.

5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

So ein Mann ein neues Weib genommen hat, so soll er nicht ausziehen in das Heer, noch soll man etwas über ihn entgehen lassen. Er soll bürdelos sein für sein Haus für ein Jahr, und fröhlich sein mit seinem Weib, das er genommen.

6 No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man’s life to pledge.

Man soll nicht Mühle und Mühlstein pfänden, denn die Seele pfändet man damit.

7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.

Wenn ein Mann gefunden wird, der eine Seele stiehlt von seinen Brüdern, von den Söhnen Israel, und ihn mißhandelt und ihn verkauft, so soll selbiger Dieb sterben, auf daß du wegschaffst das Böse aus deiner Mitte.

8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.

Hüte dich vor der Plage des Aussatzes, daß du sehr haltest und tuest nach allem dem, was die Priester, die Leviten, euch weisen. Wie ich denselben geboten habe, sollt ihr halten es zu tun.

9 Remember what the Lord thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.

Gedenke, was Jehovah, dein Gott, tat der Mirjam auf dem Wege, da ihr aus Ägypten ausginget.

10 When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.

Wenn du deinen Genossen irgendein Darlehn ausleihst, so sollst du nicht in sein Haus hineingehen, um ein Pfand von ihm zu pfänden.

11 Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee.

Draußen sollst du stehen, und der Mann, dem du ausleihst, soll dir das Pfand hinausbringen.

12 And if the man be poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:

Und wenn der Mann im Elend ist, sollst du dich nicht niederlegen mit seinem Pfande.

13 In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the Lord thy God.

Du sollst ihm das Pfand zurückgeben, so wie die Sonne untergeht, auf daß er in seinem Gewande sich lege und dich segne; und dir wird es zur Gerechtigkeit vor Jehovah, deinem Gott.

14 Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:

Du sollst den elenden und dürftigen Tagelöhner nicht unterdrücken, sei er von deinen Brüdern, oder von deinem Fremdling, der in deinem Lande in deinen Toren ist.

15 At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the Lord, and it be sin unto thee.

An seinem Tage sollst du seinen Lohn geben, und die Sonne soll nicht darüber untergehen, denn er ist im Elend, und seine Seele erhebt sich danach; auf daß er nicht über dich zu Jehovah rufe und dir es zur Sünde werde.

16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

Die Väter sollen nicht sterben um der Söhne willen, und die Söhne sollen nicht um der Väter willen sterben. Jeder Mann soll für seine Sünde sterben!

17 Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow’s raiment to pledge:

Du sollst dem Fremdling und der Waise, das Recht nicht abwenden, noch der Witwe das Kleid pfänden.

18 But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

Und gedenken, daß du ein Knecht in Ägypten warst, und daß dich Jehovah, dein Gott, von dannen eingelöst hat. Darum gebiete ich dir, dieses Wort zu tun.

19 When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

Wenn du auf deinem Felde die Ernte eingeerntet und eine Garbe auf dem Felde vergessen hast, sollst du nicht zurückkehren, sie zu holen. Dem Fremdling, der Waise und der Witwe soll sie sein, auf daß dich Jehovah, dein Gott, segne in allem Tun deiner Hände.

20 When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

Wenn du deine Olive abgeschlagen, sollst du nicht hinter dir nachpflücken. Dem Fremdling, der Waise und der Witwe soll es sein.

21 When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

Wenn du deinen Weinberg abgelesen, sollst du nicht hinter dir nachlesen. Dem Fremdling, der Waise und der Witwe soll es sein.

22 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

Und du sollst gedenken, daß du ein Knecht warst in Ägyptenland; darum gebiete ich dir, dies Wort zu tun.
