Revelation 9
1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven to the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. (Abyssos g12)
Wtedy zatrąbił piąty anioł i zobaczyłem gwiazdę zrzuconą z nieba na ziemię. Miała on otworzyć tunel prowadzący do otchłani. (Abyssos g12)
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. (Abyssos g12)
Gdy to uczyniła, buchnął z niej dym, niczym z olbrzymiego pieca. Kłęby dymu były tak ogromne, że zasłoniły słońce i niebo. (Abyssos g12)
3 And there came out of the smoke locusts on the earth: and to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
Z dymu wyłoniła się szarańcza, która miała taką samą moc, jak skorpiony.
4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
Nakazano jej, aby nie atakowała trawy, polnych roślin oraz drzew, ale ludzi, którzy nie mają na czole Bożej pieczęci.
5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he strikes a man.
Szarańcza ta nie miała ich zabijać, ale sprawiać im cierpienie—przez pięć miesięcy mieli oni odczuwać taki ból, jak po ukąszeniu skorpiona.
6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
W tych dniach ludzie będą bezskutecznie próbowali odebrać sobie życie. Będą chcieli umrzeć, ale nie będzie to możliwe.
7 And the shapes of the locusts were like to horses prepared to battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
Szarańcza ta wyglądała jak konie przygotowane do walki. Na głowach miały coś w rodzaju złotych wieńców, a ich pyski przypominały ludzkie twarze.
8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
Miały długie włosy, jak kobiety, i zęby—podobne do zębów lwa.
9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
Ich pancerze wyglądały tak, jakby były z żelaza, a odgłos ich skrzydeł przypominał huk rydwanów pędzących do boju.
10 And they had tails like to scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
Ich ogony były podobne do ogonów skorpionów i były zakończone żądłami. Właśnie dzięki nim mogły zadawać ludziom cierpienie, trwające pięć miesięcy.
11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue has his name Apollyon. (Abyssos g12)
Ich władcą był anioł otchłani, którego hebrajskie imię brzmi Abaddon (to znaczy: „Niszczyciel”). (Abyssos g12)
12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.
W ten sposób wypełniła się jedna z trzech zapowiedzi orła, który wołał: „Marny będzie los ziemi”. Pozostały jednak jeszcze dwie.
13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
Wtedy zatrąbił szósty anioł i usłyszałem słowa, dobiegające od strony czterech rogów złotego ołtarza, stojącego przed Bogiem.
14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
Słowa te skierowane były do szóstego anioła, trzymającego trąbę, i brzmiały następująco: „Wypuść czterech aniołów uwięzionych nad wielką rzeką Eufrat”.
15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
I uwolniono ich, a aniołowie ci byli przygotowani właśnie na tę godzinę, dzień, miesiąc i rok—mieli bowiem zabić jedną trzecią wszystkich ludzi.
16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.
I usłyszałem liczbę ich wojsk: dwieście milionów!
17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
W moim widzeniu zobaczyłem też ich konie i jeźdźców. Dosiadający konie mieli na sobie pancerze ognistoczerwone, granatowe lub żółte. Głowy koni przypominały głowy lwów, a z ich pysków wydobywał się ogień, dym i opary siarki, które uśmierciły jedną trzecią wszystkich ludzi.
18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like to serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
Niszczycielska moc tych koni znajdowała się bowiem właśnie w ich pyskach oraz w ogonach, które przypominały kąsające, jadowite węże.
20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Ludzie, którzy przeżyli te ataki, nie opamiętali się jednak i nie przestali czynić zła. Nadal oddawali cześć demonom oraz otaczali czcią złote, srebrne, brązowe, kamienne oraz drewniane posągi, które nie widzą, nie słyszą ani nie mogą się poruszać.
21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
Nie porzucili również czarów oraz rozwiązłości seksualnej; nadal też kradli i mordowali innych ludzi.
