Revelation 12
1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars:
Puis il parut un grand signe dans le ciel: c'était une femme enveloppée du soleil, ayant la lune sous ses pieds, et sur sa tête une couronne de douze étoiles.
2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
Elle était enceinte, et elle jetait des cris, pendant qu'elle était en proie aux souffrances et aux douleurs de l'enfantement.
3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns on his heads.
Il parut aussi un autre signe dans le ciel: c'était un grand dragon rouge, qui avait sept têtes et dix cornes, et sur ces têtes, sept diadèmes.
4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Sa queue entraînait le tiers des étoiles du ciel, et elle les jeta sur la terre; et le dragon se tint devant la femme qui allait enfanter, afin de dévorer son enfant, quand elle l'aurait mis au monde.
5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up to God, and to his throne.
Elle mit au monde un enfant mâle, qui doit gouverner toutes les nations avec un sceptre de fer; et son enfant fut enlevé auprès de Dieu et de son trône.
6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and three score days.
Quant à la femme, elle s'enfuit dans le désert, où elle avait une retraite préparée par Dieu, pour y être nourrie pendant douze cent soixante jours.
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Alors il y eut un combat dans le ciel: Michel et ses anges combattaient contre le dragon, et le dragon combattait contre eux avec ses anges;
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
mais ils ne furent pas les plus forts, et leur place même ne se retrouva plus dans le ciel.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Puis il fut précipité, le grand dragon, le serpent ancien, appelé le Diable et Satan, celui qui séduit le monde entier; il fut précipité sur la terre, et ses anges furent précipités avec lui.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brothers is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
J'entendis dans le ciel une grande voix, qui disait: Maintenant est venu le salut, ainsi que la puissance et le règne de notre Dieu, et le pouvoir de son Christ; car il a été précipité, l'accusateur de nos frères, qui les accusait jour et nuit devant notre Dieu.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives to the death.
Ils l'ont vaincu par le sang de l'Agneau et par la parole de leur témoignage; ils n'ont point aimé leur vie, ils n'ont pas reculé devant la mort.
12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has but a short time.
C'est pourquoi, réjouissez-vous, ô cieux, et vous qui en êtes les habitants! Malheur à la terre et à la mer! Car le Diable est descendu vers vous, rempli de fureur, sachant qu'il ne lui reste que peu de temps.
13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
Quand le dragon vit qu'il avait été précipité sur la terre, il poursuivit la femme qui avait mis au monde l'enfant mâle.
14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Mais les deux ailes du grand aigle furent données à la femme, pour s'envoler au désert, vers sa retraite; c'est là qu'elle doit être nourrie un temps, et des temps, et la moitié d'un temps, loin de la présence du serpent.
15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
Alors le serpent lança de sa gueule après la femme, de l'eau comme un fleuve, afin que le fleuve l'emportât dans ses eaux.
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
Mais la terre vint au secours de la femme; car la terre ouvrit sa bouche et engloutit le fleuve que le dragon avait lancé de sa gueule.
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Puis le dragon, furieux contre la femme, s'en alla faire la guerre au reste de ses enfants, qui observent les commandements de Dieu et qui gardent le témoignage de Jésus. Et il se tint debout sur le sable de la mer.
