Luke 12
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, so that they stepped one on another, he began to say to his disciples first of all, Beware you of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
其時夥しき群衆、周圍に立ち居て踏合ふ計なるに、イエズス弟子等に語出で給ひけるは、ファリザイ人等の麪酵に用心せよ、是僞善なり。
2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
蔽はれたる事に顕れざるべきはなく、隠れたる事に知れざるべきはなし、
3 Therefore whatever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which you have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed on the housetops.
其は汝等の暗黒にて言ひし事は光明に言はれ、室内にて囁きし事は屋根にて宣べらるべければなり。
4 And I say to you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
然れば我わが友たる汝等に告ぐ、肉體を殺して其後に何をも為し得ざる者を懼るること勿れ。
5 But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear him, which after he has killed has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear him. (Geenna g1067)
爰に汝等の懼るべき者を示さん、即ち殺したる後地獄に投入るる権能ある者を懼れよ、然り、我汝等に告ぐ、之を懼れよ。 (Geenna g1067)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
五羽の雀は四銭にて売るに非ずや、然るに其一羽も、神の御前に忘れらるる事なし。
7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows.
汝等の髪毛すら皆算へられたり、故に懼るること勿れ、汝等は多くの雀に優れり。
8 Also I say to you, Whoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
我汝等に告ぐ、総て人々の前にて我を宣言する者は、人の子も亦神の使等の前にて之を宣言せん。
9 But he that denies me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
然れど人々の前にて我を否む者は、神の使等の前にて否まるべし。
10 And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that blasphemes against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
又総て人の子を譏る人は赦されん、然れど聖霊に對して冒涜したる人は赦されじ。
11 And when they bring you to the synagogues, and to magistrates, and powers, take you no thought how or what thing you shall answer, or what you shall say:
人々汝等を會堂に、或は官吏、権力者の前に引かん時、如何に又は何を答へ、又は何を言はんかと思煩ふこと勿れ、
12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say.
言ふべき事は、其時に當りて、聖霊汝等に教へ給ふべければなり、と。
13 And one of the company said to him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
斯て群衆の中より、或人イエズスに向ひ、師よ、我兄弟に命じて、家督を我と共に分たしめ給へ、と云ひしかば、
14 And he said to him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
イエズス之に曰ひけるは、人よ、汝等の上の判事又は分配者として、誰か我を定めしぞ、と。
15 And he said to them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.
斯て人々に曰ひけるは、慎みて凡ての貪欲に用心せよ、其は人の生命は所有物の豊なるに因らざればなり、と。
16 And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
又彼等に喩を語りて曰ひけるは、或富者の畑豊かに實りければ、
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
其人心の中に考へけるは、我産物を積むべき處なきを如何にせんと。
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
遂に謂へらく、我は斯為べし、即ち我倉を毀ち、更に大いなる物を建てて、其處に我産物と財貨とを積まん、
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
而して我魂に向ひ、魂よ、多年の用意に蓄へたる財産數多あれば、心を安んじ、飲食して樂しめ、と言はん、と。
20 But God said to him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?
然れど神は彼に曰はく、愚者よ、汝の魂は今夜呼還されんとす、然らば備へたる物は誰が物と為るべきぞ、と。
21 So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
己の為に寳を積みて、神の御前に富まざる人は斯の如き者なり、と。
22 And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on.
又弟子等に曰ひけるは、然れば我汝等に告ぐ、生命の為に何をか食ひ身の為に何をか着ん、と思煩ふこと勿れ、
23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
生命は食物に優り、身は衣服に優れり。
24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: how much more are you better than the fowls?
烏を鑑みよ、播く事なく刈る事なく、倉をも納屋をも有たざれども、神は之を養ひ給ふなり、汝等烏に優ること幾何ぞや。
25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
汝等の中誰か工夫して己が寿命に一肘だも加ふることを得んや、
26 If you then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take you thought for the rest?
然れば斯く最小き事すらも能はざるに、何ぞ其他の事を思煩ふや。
27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say to you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
百合の如何に長つかを鑑みよ。働く事なく紡ぐ事なし、然れども我汝等に言う、サロモンだも其榮華の極に於て、彼百合の一ほどに粧はざりき。
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?
今日野に在りて明日炉に投入れらるる草をさへ、神は斯く粧はせ給へば、况や汝等をや、信仰薄き者等哉。
29 And seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be you of doubtful mind.
汝等も、何をか食ひ何をか飲まんと求むること勿れ、又大望を起すこと勿れ、
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that you have need of these things.
蓋世の異邦人は、此一切の物を求むれども、汝等の父は汝等の之を要することを知り給へばなり。
31 But rather seek you the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added to you.
然れば先神の國と、其義とを求めよ、然らば此一切の物は汝等に加へらるべし。
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
小き群よ、懼るること勿れ、汝等に國を賜ふ事は、汝等の父の御意に適ひたればなり。
33 Sell that you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.
汝等の所有物を売りて施を行へ、己の為に古びざる金嚢を造り、匱きざる寳を天に蓄へよ、彼處には盗人も近づかず、蠹も壊はざるなり。
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
是汝等の寳の在る處には、心も亦在るべければなり。
35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
汝等腰に帯して手に燈あるべし。
36 And you yourselves like to men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocks, they may open to him immediately.
又恰も、主人婚莚より還來りて門を叩かば直に開かん、と待受くる人の如くに為よ。
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching: truly I say to you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
主人の來る時に醒めたるを見らるる僕等は福なり、我誠に汝等に告ぐ、主人自ら帯して此僕等を食に就かせ、通ひて彼等に給仕せん。
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
主人十二時までに來るも三時までに來るも、僕等の斯の如きを見ば、彼等は福なり。
39 And this know, that if the manager of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
汝等知るべし、家父若盗人の來るべき時を知らば必ず警戒して其家を穿たしめじ。
40 Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not.
汝等も亦用意してあれ、人の子は汝等の思はざる時に來るべければなり、と。
41 Then Peter said to him, Lord, speak you this parable to us, or even to all?
ペトロ、イエズスに向ひ、主よ、此喩を曰ふは、我等の為にか、凡ての人の為にもか、と云ひしかば、
42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
主曰ひけるは、時に應じて家族に麦を程よく分與へしめんとて、戸主が其家族の上に立つる、忠義にして敏き執事は誰なるか、
43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.
主人の來る時に斯く行へるを見らるる僕は福なり。
44 Of a truth I say to you, that he will make him ruler over all that he has.
我誠に汝等に告ぐ、主人は己が有てる一切の物を之に掌らしめん。
45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delays his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
もし彼僕心の中に、我主人の來る事遅しと謂ひて、下男、下女を打擲き、飲食して酔始めんか、
46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
期せざる日、知らざる時に、彼僕の主人來りて之を罰し、其報を不忠者と同じくせん。
47 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
又其主人の意を知りて用意せず、主人の意に從ひて行はざる僕は、鞭たるる事多からん。
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For to whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
然れども、知らずして鞭たるべき事を為したる者は、打たるる事少かるべし、総て多く與へられたる人は多く求められ、委托したる事多ければ催促する事も多かるべし。
49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
我は地上に火を放たんとて來れり、其燃ゆる外には何をか望まん。
50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
然るに我には我が受くべき洗禮あり、其が為遂げらるるまで、我が思逼れる事如何許ぞや。
51 Suppose you that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, No; but rather division:
汝等は、我地上に平和を持來れりと思ふか、我汝等に告ぐ、否却つて分離なり。
52 For from now on there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
蓋今より後、一家に五人あらば、三人は二人に、二人は三人に對して分れん、
53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
即ち父は子に、子は父に、母は女に、女は母に、姑は嫁に、嫁は姑に對して分るる事あらん、と。
54 And he said also to the people, When you see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway you say, There comes a shower; and so it is.
イエズス又群衆に曰ひけるは、汝等西より雲起るを見れば直に雨來らんと謂ふ、既にして果して然り。
55 And when you see the south wind blow, you say, There will be heat; and it comes to pass.
又南風吹くを見れば暑くなるべしと謂ふ、既にして果して然り。
56 You hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that you do not discern this time?
僞善者よ、汝等は天地の有様を見分くる事を知れるに、如何ぞ今の時を見分けざる、
57 Yes, and why even of yourselves judge you not what is right?
如何ぞ義しき事を自ら見定めざる。
58 When you go with your adversary to the magistrate, as you are in the way, give diligence that you may be delivered from him; lest he hale you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer cast you into prison.
汝等敵手と共に官吏の許に往く時、途中にて彼に赦されん事を力めよ。恐らくは汝を判事の許に引き、判事は下役に付し、下役は監獄に入れん、
59 I tell you, you shall not depart there, till you have paid the very last mite.
我汝に告ぐ、最終の一厘までも還さざる中は、汝其處を出でざるべし、と。
