< John 8 >

1 Jesus went to the mount of Olives.
but Yeshua went to the Mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down, and taught them.
Now very early in the morning, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought to him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the middle,
Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,
4 They say to him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
they said to him, "Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what say you?
Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such. So what do you say?"
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
Now they said this to test him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Yeshua stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her."
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the oldest, even to the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the middle.
But when they heard it, they went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last, and he was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are those your accusers? has no man condemned you?
Then Yeshua, standing up, said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?"
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.
And she said, "No one, Lord." And Yeshua said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more."
12 Then spoke Jesus again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Again, therefore, Yeshua spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."
13 The Pharisees therefore said to him, You bore record of yourself; your record is not true.
The Pharisees therefore said to him, "You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not valid."
14 Jesus answered and said to them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know from where I came, and where I go; but you cannot tell from where I come, and where I go.
Yeshua answered them, "Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you do not know where I came from, or where I am going.
15 You judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.
17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
It's also written in your Law that the testimony of two people is valid.
18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me bears witness of me.
I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me."
19 Then said they to him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, You neither know me, nor my Father: if you had known me, you should have known my Father also.
They said therefore to him, "Where is your Father?" Yeshua answered, "You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also."
20 These words spoke Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
Yeshua spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
21 Then said Jesus again to them, I go my way, and you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: where I go, you cannot come.
Yeshua said therefore again to them, "I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you cannot come."
22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he says, Where I go, you cannot come.
The Jewish leaders therefore said, "Will he kill himself, that he says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come?'"
23 And he said to them, You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world.
He said to them, "You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.
24 I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins.
I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."
25 Then said they to him, Who are you? And Jesus says to them, Even the same that I said to you from the beginning.
They said therefore to him, "Who are you?" Yeshua said to them, "Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.
26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world."
27 They understood not that he spoke to them of the Father.
They did not understand that he spoke to them about the Father.
28 Then said Jesus to them, When you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.
Yeshua therefore said to them, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I say these things.
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn't left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him."
30 As he spoke these words, many believed on him.
As he spoke these things, many believed in him.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;
Yeshua therefore said to those Judeans who had believed him, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my talmidim.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how say you, You shall be made free?
They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free?'"
34 Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
Yeshua answered them, "Truly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
35 And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever. (aiōn g165)
A slave does not live in the house forever. A son remains forever. (aiōn g165)
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
37 I know that you are Abraham’s seed; but you seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you.
I know that you are Abraham's descendants, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.
38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and you do that which you have seen with your father.
I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have heard from your father."
39 They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus says to them, If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
They answered him, "Our father is Abraham." Yeshua said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.
40 But now you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.
41 You do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
You do the works of your father." They said to him, "We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God."
42 Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
Therefore Yeshua said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I have not come of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do you not understand my speech? even because you cannot hear my word.
Why do you not understand my speech? Because you cannot hear my word.
44 You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stayed not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.
45 And because I tell you the truth, you believe me not.
But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me.
46 Which of you convinces me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do you not believe me?
Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?
47 He that is of God hears God’s words: you therefore hear them not, because you are not of God.
He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you do not hear, because you are not of God."
48 Then answered the Jews, and said to him, Say we not well that you are a Samaritan, and have a devil?
Then the Judeans answered him, "Do not we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?"
49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honor my Father, and you do dishonor me.
Yeshua answered, "I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
50 And I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeks and judges.
But I do not seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.
51 Truly, truly, I say to you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. (aiōn g165)
Truly, truly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death." (aiōn g165)
52 Then said the Jews to him, Now we know that you have a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you say, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. (aiōn g165)
Then the Judeans said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say, 'If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste of death.' (aiōn g165)
53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom make you yourself?
Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?"
54 Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honors me; of whom you say, that he is your God:
Yeshua answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say 'He is our God.'
55 Yet you have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like to you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, 'I do not know him,' I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad."
57 Then said the Jews to him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?
The Judeans therefore said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?"
58 Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I am.
Yeshua said to them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM."
59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the middle of them, and so passed by.
Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Yeshua was concealed, and went out of the temple.
