John 18
1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
१हे बोलल्यानंतर येशू आपल्या शिष्यांबरोबर किद्रोन ओहळाच्या पलीकडे गेला. तेथे एक बाग होती; तेथे तो व त्याचे शिष्य गेले.
2 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples.
२ही जागा त्यास धरून देणाऱ्या यहूदालाही माहीत होती कारण येशू पुष्कळ वेळा आपल्या शिष्यांबरोबर तेथे जात असे.
3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, comes thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
३तेव्हा सैनिकांची तुकडी व मुख्य याजक लोक व परूशी यांच्याकडचे कामदार मिळाल्यावर, दिवे, मशाली व शस्त्रे घेऊन यहूदा तेथे आला.
4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come on him, went forth, and said to them, Whom seek you?
४येशू आपणावर जे काही येणार हे सर्व जाणून बाहेर आला आणि त्यांना म्हणाला, “तुम्ही कोणाला शोधत आहात?”
5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus says to them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
५त्यांनी त्यास उत्तर दिले, “नासरेथकर येशूला.” तो त्यांना म्हणाला, “तो मी आहे.” आणि ज्या यहूदाने त्यास धरून दिले देखील त्यांच्याबरोबर उभा होता,
6 As soon then as he had said to them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
६“तो मीच आहे,” असे म्हणताच ते मागे सरकून जाऊन जमिनीवर पडले.
7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek you? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
७मग त्याने त्यांना पुन्हा विचारले, “तुम्ही कोणाला शोधता?” आणि ते म्हणाले, “नासरेथकर येशूला.”
8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore you seek me, let these go their way:
८येशूने उत्तर दिले, “मीच तो आहे; असे मी तुम्हास सांगितले, तुम्ही मला शोधीत असला तर यांना जाऊ द्या.”
9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Of them which you gave me have I lost none.
९“जे तू मला दिले आहेत त्यांतून मी एकही हरविला नाही,” असे जे वचन तो बोलला होता ते पूर्ण व्हावे म्हणून हे झाले.
10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
१०तेव्हा शिमोन पेत्राजवळ तलवार असल्याने त्याने ती उपसली व महायाजकाच्या दासावर चालविली आणि त्याचा उजवा कान कापून टाकला. त्या दासाचे नाव मल्ख होते.
11 Then said Jesus to Peter, Put up your sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it?
११तेव्हा येशू पेत्राला म्हणाला, “तरवार म्यानात घाल. पित्याने मला जो प्याला दिला आहे तो मी पिऊ नये काय?”
12 Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,
१२मग सैनिकांची तुकडी व हजारांचा सरदार आणि यहूद्यांचे अधिकारी हे येशूला धरून बांधले.
13 And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.
१३आणि त्यास प्रथम हन्नाकडे नेले कारण, त्या वर्षी महायाजक असलेल्या कयफाचा हा सासरा होता,
14 Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
१४एका मनुष्याने लोकांसाठी मरावे हे फायद्याचे आहे. अशी मसलत यहूद्यास याच कयफाने दिली होती.
15 And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known to the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.
१५शिमोन पेत्र व दुसरा एक शिष्य येशूच्या मागे मागे चालले; तो शिष्य महायाजकाच्या ओळखीचा होता आणि येशूबरोबर महायाजकाच्या वाड्यात गेला.
16 But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known to the high priest, and spoke to her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
१६पण पेत्र बाहेर, दाराशी उभा राहिला होता, म्हणून जो दुसरा शिष्य महायाजकाच्या ओळखीचा होता त्याने बाहेर जाऊन व द्वारपालिकेला सांगून पेत्राला आत आणले.
17 Then says the damsel that kept the door to Peter, Are not you also one of this man’s disciples? He says, I am not.
१७यावरुन ती तरूण द्वारपालिका होती ती पेत्राला म्हणाली, “तूही या मनुष्याच्या शिष्यांपैकी आहेस काय?” तो म्हणाला, “मी नाही.”
18 And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.
१८थंडी असल्यामुळे दास व कामदार कोळशाचा विस्तव पेटवून शेकत उभे राहिले होते आणि पेत्र पण त्यांच्याबरोबर शेकत उभा होता.
19 The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
१९तेव्हा महायाजकाने येशूला त्याच्या शिष्यांविषयी व त्याच्या शिक्षणाविषयी प्रश्न केले.
20 Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.
२०येशूने त्यास उत्तर दिले, “मी जगासमोर उघडपणे बोललो आहे, सभास्थानात आणि परमेश्वराच्या भवनात, सर्व यहूदी जमतात, तेथे मी नेहमी शिक्षण दिले आणि गुप्तपणे मी काही बोललो नाही.
21 Why ask you me? ask them which heard me, what I have said to them: behold, they know what I said.
२१मला का विचारता? मी काय बोलतो ते. ज्यांनी ऐकले आहे त्यांना विचारा. पाहा, मी जे बोललो ते त्यांना माहीत आहे.”
22 And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answer you the high priest so?
२२त्याने असे म्हटल्याबरोबर जवळ उभा राहणारा एक कामदार येशूला चापट मारून म्हणाला, “तू महायाजकाला असे उत्तर देतोस काय?”
23 Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smite you me?
२३येशूने त्यास उत्तर दिले, “मी वाईट रीतीने बोललो असलो तर कसे वाईट बोललो ते सिद्ध कर; योग्य रीतीने बोललो असलो तर मला का मारतोस?”
24 Now Annas had sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.
२४तेव्हा हन्नाने त्यास महायाजक कयफा याच्याकडे बांधलेलेच पाठवले.
25 And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore to him, Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.
२५शिमोन पेत्र शेकत उभा राहिला होता; त्यास इतर म्हणाले, “तूही त्याच्या शिष्यांतला आहेस काय?” त्याने नाकारले व म्हटले, “मी नाही.”
26 One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, says, Did not I see you in the garden with him?
२६पेत्राने ज्याचा कान कापला होता त्याचा नातलग असलेला, महायाजकाच्या दासांपैकी एक होता, तो त्यास म्हणाला, “मी तुला त्याच्याबरोबर बागेत नाही का पाहिले?”
27 Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.
२७पेत्राने पुन्हा नाकारले आणि, लागलाच, कोंबडा आरवला.
28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas to the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.
२८तेव्हा त्यांनी येशूला कयफाकडून सरकारवाड्यांत नेले; तेव्हा सकाळ होती आणि आपण अशुद्ध होऊ नये, पण वल्हांडणाचे भोजन करता यावे म्हणून ते स्वतः सरकारवाड्यांत गेले नाहीत.
29 Pilate then went out to them, and said, What accusation bring you against this man?
२९यास्तव पिलात त्यांच्याकडे बाहेर येऊन म्हणाला, “तुम्ही या मनुष्यावर काय आरोप ठेवता?”
30 They answered and said to him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up to you.
३०त्यांनी त्यास उत्तर दिले, “तो दुष्कर्मी नसता तर आम्ही त्यास आपल्या हाती दिले नसते.”
31 Then said Pilate to them, Take you him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said to him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
३१पिलाताने त्यांना म्हटले, “त्याला तुम्हीच आपल्या नियमशास्त्राप्रमाणे त्याचा न्याय करा.” यहूदी अधिकारी त्यास म्हणाले, “आम्हास कोणाचा जीव घेण्याचा अधिकार नाही.”
32 That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what death he should die.
३२आपण कोणत्या मरणाने मरणार हे सुचवितांना येशूने जे वचन सांगितले होते ते पूर्ण व्हावे म्हणून असे झाले.
33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said to him, Are you the King of the Jews?
३३म्हणून पिलात पुन्हा सरकारवाड्यांत गेला; आणि त्याने येशूला बोलावून म्हणाला, “तू यहूद्यांचा राजा आहेस काय?”
34 Jesus answered him, Say you this thing of yourself, or did others tell it you of me?
३४येशूने उत्तर दिले, “आपण स्वतः हे म्हणता किंवा दुसर्‍यांनी आपणाला माझ्याविषयी हे सांगितले?”
35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you to me: what have you done?
३५पिलाताने उत्तर दिले, “मी यहूदी आहे काय? तुझ्याच लोकांनी आणि मुख्य याजकांनी तुला माझ्या हाती दिले; तू काय केले.”
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
३६येशूने उत्तर दिले, “माझे राज्य या जगाचे नाही. माझे राज्य या जगाचे असते तर यहूद्यांच्या हाती मी दिला जाऊ नये म्हणून माझ्या सेवकांनी लढाई केली असती; पण माझे राज्य येथले नाही.”
37 Pilate therefore said to him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.
३७म्हणून पिलात त्यास म्हणाला, “तर तू राजा आहेस काय?” येशूने उत्तर दिले, “मी राजा आहे असे आपण म्हणता. मी यासाठी जन्मलो आहे आणि यासाठी मी जगात आलो आहे. मी सत्याची साक्ष द्यावी. जो कोणी सत्याचा आहे तो माझी वाणी ऐकतो.”
38 Pilate says to him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, I find in him no fault at all.
३८पिलात त्यास म्हणाला, “सत्य काय आहे?” आणि हे बोलून तो पुन्हा यहूद्यांकडे बाहेर गेला आणि त्यांना म्हणाला, “मला त्याच्यात काही अपराध दिसत नाही.
39 But you have a custom, that I should release to you one at the passover: will you therefore that I release to you the King of the Jews?
३९पण तुमच्यासाठी वल्हांडण सणांत मी एकाला सोडावे अशी तुमच्यात रीत आहे; तर तुमच्यासाठी मी यहूद्यांच्या राजाला सोडावे अशी तुमची इच्छा आहे काय?”
40 Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
४०तेव्हा पुन्हा ते ओरडून म्हणाले, “ह्याला सोडू नका, तर बरब्बाला सोडा” आता बरब्बा हा एक लुटारू होता.
