Deuteronomy 5
1 And Moses called all Israel, and said to them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that you may learn them, and keep, and do them.
Musa memanggil seluruh orang Israel berkumpul dan berkata kepada mereka: "Dengarlah, hai orang Israel, ketetapan dan peraturan, yang pada hari ini kuperdengarkan kepadamu, supaya kamu mempelajarinya dan melakukannya dengan setia.
2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
TUHAN, Allah kita, telah mengikat perjanjian dengan kita di Horeb.
3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Bukan dengan nenek moyang kita TUHAN mengikat perjanjian itu, tetapi dengan kita, kita yang ada di sini pada hari ini, kita semuanya yang masih hidup.
4 The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the middle of the fire,
TUHAN telah bicara dengan berhadapan muka dengan kamu di gunung dan di tengah-tengah api--
5 (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD: for you were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount; ) saying,
aku pada waktu itu berdiri antara TUHAN dan kamu untuk memberitahukan firman TUHAN kepadamu, sebab kamu takut kepada api dan kamu tidak naik ke gunung--dan Ia berfirman:
6 I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Akulah TUHAN, Allahmu, yang membawa engkau keluar dari tanah Mesir, dari tempat perbudakan.
7 You shall have none other gods before me.
Jangan ada padamu allah lain di hadapan-Ku.
8 You shall not make you any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Jangan membuat bagimu patung yang menyerupai apapun yang ada di langit di atas, atau yang ada di bumi di bawah, atau yang ada di dalam air di bawah bumi.
9 You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
Jangan sujud menyembah kepadanya atau beribadah kepadanya, sebab Aku, TUHAN Allahmu, adalah Allah yang cemburu, yang membalaskan kesalahan bapa kepada anak-anaknya dan kepada keturunan yang ketiga dan keempat dari orang-orang yang membenci Aku,
10 And showing mercy to thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
tetapi Aku menunjukkan kasih setia kepada beribu-ribu orang, yaitu mereka yang mengasihi Aku dan yang berpegang pada perintah-perintah-Ku.
11 You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.
Jangan menyebut nama TUHAN, Allahmu, dengan sembarangan, sebab TUHAN akan memandang bersalah orang yang menyebut nama-Nya dengan sembarangan.
12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD your God has commanded you.
Tetaplah ingat dan kuduskanlah hari Sabat, seperti yang diperintahkan kepadamu oleh TUHAN, Allahmu.
13 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work:
Enam hari lamanya engkau akan bekerja dan melakukan segala pekerjaanmu,
14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your ass, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates; that your manservant and your maidservant may rest as well as you.
tetapi hari ketujuh adalah hari Sabat TUHAN, Allahmu; maka jangan melakukan sesuatu pekerjaan, engkau atau anakmu laki-laki, atau anakmu perempuan, atau hambamu laki-laki, atau hambamu perempuan, atau lembumu, atau keledaimu, atau hewanmu yang manapun, atau orang asing yang di tempat kediamanmu, supaya hambamu laki-laki dan hambamu perempuan berhenti seperti engkau juga.
15 And remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God brought you out there through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.
Sebab haruslah kauingat, bahwa engkaupun dahulu budak di tanah Mesir dan engkau dibawa keluar dari sana oleh TUHAN, Allahmu dengan tangan yang kuat dan lengan yang teracung; itulah sebabnya TUHAN, Allahmu, memerintahkan engkau merayakan hari Sabat.
16 Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you; that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
Hormatilah ayahmu dan ibumu, seperti yang diperintahkan kepadamu oleh TUHAN, Allahmu, supaya lanjut umurmu dan baik keadaanmu di tanah yang diberikan TUHAN, Allahmu, kepadamu.
17 You shall not kill.
Jangan membunuh.
18 Neither shall you commit adultery.
Jangan berzinah.
19 Neither shall you steal.
Jangan mencuri.
20 Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbor.
Jangan mengucapkan saksi dusta tentang sesamamu.
21 Neither shall you desire your neighbor’s wife, neither shall you covet your neighbor’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is your neighbor’s.
Jangan mengingini isteri sesamamu, dan jangan menghasratkan rumahnya, atau ladangnya, atau hambanya laki-laki, atau hambanya perempuan, atau lembunya, atau keledainya, atau apapun yang dipunyai sesamamu.
22 These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly in the mount out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them to me.
Firman itulah yang diucapkan TUHAN kepada seluruh jemaahmu dengan suara nyaring di gunung, dari tengah-tengah api, awan dan kegelapan, dan tidak ditambahkan-Nya apa-apa lagi. Ditulis-Nya semuanya pada dua loh batu, lalu diberikan-Nya kepadaku."
23 And it came to pass, when you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire, ) that you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
"Ketika kamu mendengar suara itu dari tengah-tengah gelap gulita, sementara gunung itu menyala, maka kamu, yakni semua kepala sukumu dan para tua-tuamu, mendekati aku,
24 And you said, Behold, the LORD our God has showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire: we have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives.
dan berkata: Sesungguhnya, TUHAN, Allah kita, telah memperlihatkan kepada kita kemuliaan dan kebesaran-Nya, dan suara-Nya telah kita dengar dari tengah-tengah api. Pada hari ini telah kami lihat, bahwa Allah berbicara dengan manusia dan manusia itu tetap hidup.
25 Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.
Tetapi sekarang, mengapa kami harus mati? Sebab api yang besar ini akan menghanguskan kami. Apabila kami lebih lama lagi mendengar suara TUHAN, Allah kita, kami akan mati.
26 For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as we have, and lived?
Sebab makhluk manakah yang telah mendengar suara dari Allah yang hidup yang berbicara dari tengah-tengah api, seperti kami dan tetap hidup?
27 Go you near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak you to us all that the LORD our God shall speak to you; and we will hear it, and do it.
Mendekatlah engkau dan dengarkanlah segala yang difirmankan TUHAN, Allah kita, dan engkaulah yang mengatakan kepada kami segala yang difirmankan kepadamu oleh TUHAN, Allah kita, maka kami akan mendengar dan melakukannya.
28 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when you spoke to me; and the LORD said to me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken to you: they have well said all that they have spoken.
Ketika TUHAN mendengar perkataanmu itu, sedang kamu mengatakannya kepadaku, maka berfirmanlah TUHAN kepadaku: Telah Kudengar perkataan bangsa ini yang dikatakan mereka kepadamu. Segala yang dikatakan mereka itu baik.
29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
Kiranya hati mereka selalu begitu, yakni takut akan Daku dan berpegang pada segala perintah-Ku, supaya baik keadaan mereka dan anak-anak mereka untuk selama-lamanya!
30 Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
Pergilah, katakanlah kepada mereka: Kembalilah ke kemahmu.
31 But as for you, stand you here by me, and I will speak to you all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
Tetapi engkau, berdirilah di sini bersama-sama dengan Aku, maka Aku hendak mengatakan kepadamu segenap perintah, yakni ketetapan dan peraturan, yang harus kauajarkan kepada mereka, supaya mereka melakukannya di negeri yang Kuberikan kepada mereka untuk dimiliki.
32 You shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you: you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
Maka lakukanlah semuanya itu dengan setia, seperti yang diperintahkan kepadamu oleh TUHAN, Allahmu. Janganlah menyimpang ke kanan atau ke kiri.
33 You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.
Segenap jalan, yang diperintahkan kepadamu oleh TUHAN, Allahmu, haruslah kamu jalani, supaya kamu hidup, dan baik keadaanmu serta lanjut umurmu di negeri yang akan kamu duduki."
