Daniel 1
1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Jerusalem, and besieged it.
೧ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾಕೀಮನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಮೂರನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ರಾಜನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದನು.
2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
೨ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾಕೀಮನನ್ನೂ, ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಅನೇಕ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಲು ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಶಿನಾರ್ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಗಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ದೇವರ ಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದು ಆ ದೇವರ ಭಂಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
3 And the king spoke to Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;
೩ಅನಂತರ ಆ ರಾಜನು ತನ್ನ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಶ್ಪೆನಜನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದರೆ ರಾಜವಂಶೀಯರಲ್ಲಿ
4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favored, and skillful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
೪ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಧಾನರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಗದೋಷವಿಲ್ಲದವರೂ, ಸುಂದರರೂ, ಸಮಸ್ತ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞರೂ, ಪಂಡಿತರೂ, ವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಪುಣರೂ, ರಾಜಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಲು ಸಮರ್ಥರೂ ಆದ ಕೆಲವು ಯುವಕರನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುತಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕಸ್ದೀಯ ಪಂಡಿತರ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಲಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
೫ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, “ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಅವರು ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಸೇವಕರಾಗಲೆಂದು ತನ್ನ ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನೂ, ರಾಜನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಬಡಿಸುವ ಏರ್ಪಾಡುಮಾಡಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷ ಪೋಷಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
೬ಆರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಯುವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ದಾನಿಯೇಲ, ಹನನ್ಯ, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲ, ಅಜರ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಸೇರಿದ್ದರು.
7 To whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
೭ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನು ಇವರಿಗೆ ನಾಮಕರಣಮಾಡಿ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನಿಗೆ ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರ್, ಹನನ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಶದ್ರಕ್, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲನಿಗೆ ಮೇಶಕ್, ಅಜರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಅಬೇದ್ನೆಗೋ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
೮ಆದರೆ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ರಾಜನ ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ರಾಜನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಶುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದೆಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಅಶುದ್ಧನಾಗಲಾರೆ, ಕ್ಷಮಿಸು” ಎಂದು ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
9 Now God had brought Daniel into favor and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
೯ದೇವರು ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕನಿಕರವನ್ನೂ, ದಯೆಯನ್ನೂ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಿದನು.
10 And the prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall you make me endanger my head to the king.
೧೦ಆ ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನು ದಾನಿಯೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಹಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ರಾಜನು ನಿಮ್ಮಂತೆ ಆರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಯುವಕರ ಮುಖಕ್ಕಿಂತ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಖವು ಬಾಡಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ರಾಜನು ನನ್ನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯಿಸಲು ನೀವು ಕಾರಣರಾಗುವಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಭಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದನು.
11 Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
೧೧ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ತನ್ನನ್ನೂ, ಹನನ್ಯ, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲ, ಅಜರ್ಯ, ಇವರನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನು
12 Prove your servants, I beseech you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink.
೧೨ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ವಿಚಾರಕನಿಗೆ, “ಅಯ್ಯಾ, ಹತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸು; ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಯಿಪಲ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾನಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರು ನಮಗೆ ಒದಗಲಿ.
13 Then let our countenances be looked on before you, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as you see, deal with your servants.
೧೩ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಖಗಳನ್ನೂ ರಾಜನ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಉಣ್ಣುವ ಯುವಕರ ಮುಖಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಹೋಲಿಸಿನೋಡು; ನೋಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ನಡೆಸು” ಎಂದು ಬಿನ್ನವಿಸಿದನು.
14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
೧೪ಅವನು ಅವರ ಬಿನ್ನಹಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿ ಹತ್ತು ದಿನ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು.
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
೧೫ಅವರು ಹತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ನಂತರ ರಾಜನ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಉಣ್ಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸಕಲ ಯುವಕರಿಗಿಂತ ಸುಂದರರಾಗಿಯೂ, ಪುಷ್ಟರಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಾಣಿಸಿದರು.
16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them vegetables.
೧೬ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ವಿಚಾರಕನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ನೇಮಕವಾದ ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಅವರು ಕುಡಿಯಬೇಕಾದ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದಿಟ್ಟು ಕಾಯಿಪಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದನು.
17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
೧೭ಹೀಗಿರಲು ದೇವರು ಆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಯುವಕರಿಗೆ ಸಕಲ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ವಿದ್ಯೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಜ್ಞಾನವಿವೇಕಗಳನ್ನು ದಯಪಾಲಿಸಿದನು. ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸ್ವಪ್ನಗಳನ್ನೂ, ದಿವ್ಯದರ್ಶನಗಳನ್ನೂ ಗ್ರಹಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೀಣನಾದನು.
18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
೧೮ರಾಜನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಕಾಲವು ಕಳೆದು ಯುವಕರನ್ನು ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ತರತಕ್ಕ ಸಮಯವು ಬಂದಾಗ, ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು ತಂದನು.
19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
೧೯ರಾಜನು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಆ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಯುವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ದಾನಿಯೇಲ, ಹನನ್ಯ, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲ, ಅಜರ್ಯ ಇವರ ಹಾಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಕಂಡುಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಅವರು ರಾಜನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಸೇವಕರಾದರು.
20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
೨೦ಬಳಿಕ ರಾಜನು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ವಿದ್ಯೆಯ ಸರ್ವವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಮಾಡಲು ಅವನ ಪೂರ್ಣ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜೋಯಿಸರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ, ಮಂತ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಹತ್ತರಷ್ಟು ನಿಪುಣರಾಗಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು.
21 And Daniel continued even to the first year of king Cyrus.
೨೧ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ರಾಜನಾದ ಕೋರೆಷನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದ ತನಕ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ ಸೇವಕನಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದನು.
