2 Samuel 10

1 And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead.

೧ಇದಾದ ನಂತರ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಅರಸನು ಸತ್ತನು. ಅವನ ನಂತರ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಹಾನೂನನು ಅರಸನಾದನು.

2 Then said David, I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.

೨ದಾವೀದನು, “ನಾಹಾಷನು ನನಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನಾನು ಅವನ ಮಗ ಹಾನೂನನಿಗೂ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡು, ಪಿತೃಶೋಕದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಹಾನೂನನನ್ನು ಸಂತೈಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ದಾವೀದನ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು.

3 And the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, Think you that David does honor your father, that he has sent comforters to you? has not David rather sent his servants to you, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?

೩ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ರಾಜ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಹಾನೂನನಿಗೆ, “ದಾವೀದನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸಂತೈಸುವವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸುವವನು ಎಂದು ನೀನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿರಬಹುದೋ? ಅವರು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿ, ಸ್ವಾಧಿನಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

4 Why Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.

೪ಇದರಿಂದ ಹಾನೂನನು ದಾವೀದನ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಸಿ, ಗಡ್ಡದ ಅರ್ಧ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಬೋಳಿಸಿ, ಸೊಂಟದಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಅವರ ನಗ್ನತೆಯು ಕಾಣುವಂತೆ ನಿಲುವಂಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

5 When they told it to David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

೫ಅವರು ಈ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಅಪಮಾನ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಅವರಿಗೆ “ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗಡ್ಡ ಬೆಳೆಯುವವರೆಗೆ ನೀವು ಯೆರಿಕೋ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಅನಂತರ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ.

6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men.

೬ತಾವು ದಾವೀದನ ಕೋಪಕ್ಕೂ, ಅಸಮಾಧಾನಕ್ಕೂ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ಬೇತ್ ರೆಹೋಬ್ ಮತ್ತು ಚೋಬಾ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಂದ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಕಾಲಾಳುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಮಾಕದ ರಾಜನಿಂದ ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಟೋಬ್ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ದಂಡಾಳುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹಣಕೊಟ್ಟು ತರಿಸಿದನು

7 And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.

೭ಈ ಸುದ್ದಿಯು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಯೋವಾಬನನ್ನೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಶೂರ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನೂ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

8 And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and Ishtob, and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.

೮ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಊರ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯೂಹರಚಿಸಿದರು. ಚೋಬ, ರೆಹೋಬ್ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರೂ ಟೋಬ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಕಾ ದೇಶಗಳವರೂ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾಗಿ ಮೈದಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.

9 When Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:

೯ಯೋವಾಬನು ತನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ, ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಯುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರಾದ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅವರನ್ನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.

10 And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Abishai his brother, that he might put them in array against the children of Ammon.

೧೦ಉಳಿದ ಜನರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಅಬೀಷೈಯ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

11 And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then you shall help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for you, then I will come and help you.

೧೧ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸುವಂತೆ ಕಂಡರೆ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾ. ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸುವಂತೆ ಕಂಡರೆ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವೆನು.

12 Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seems him good.

೧೨ಧೈರ್ಯದಿಂದಿರು, ನಮ್ಮ ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಶೌರ್ಯವನ್ನು, ಪೌರುಷವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸೋಣ. ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ಚಿತ್ತದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

13 And Joab drew near, and the people that were with him, to the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him.

೧೩ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅವನ ಜನರು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.

14 And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, then fled they also before Abishai, and entered into the city. So Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.

೧೪ಇವರು ಓಡಿಹೋಗುವುದನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ಕಂಡು ಅವರೂ ಅಬೀಷೈಯ ಎದುರಿನಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ, ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದರು. ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.

15 And when the Syrians saw that they were smitten before Israel, they gathered themselves together.

೧೫ಅರಾಮ್ಯರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಿಂದ ಅಪಜಯಹೊಂದಿತೆಂದು ಗೊತ್ತಾದಾಗ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದರು.

16 And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river: and they came to Helam; and Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.

೧೬ಹದದೆಜೆರನು ಯೂಫ್ರೆಟಿಸ್ ನದಿಯ ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಬರಲು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ಹೇಲಾಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಹದದೆಜೆರನ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಶೋಬಕನು ಅವರ ನಾಯಕನಾದನು.

17 And when it was told David, he gathered all Israel together, and passed over Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.

೧೭ಈ ಸುದ್ದಿಯು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ಹೊಳೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಹೇಲಾಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ವ್ಯೂಹರಚಿಸಿ ದಾವೀದನೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತಾಗ,

18 And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.

೧೮ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಮುಂದೆ ಸೋತು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ದಾವೀದನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಏಳುನೂರು ರಥ ಸಾರಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಿ, ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ರಾಹುತರನ್ನು ಹತ್ಯೆಮಾಡಿದನು. ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಶೋಬಕನು ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡು ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಸತ್ತನು.

19 And when all the kings that were servants to Hadarezer saw that they were smitten before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.

೧೯ಹದದೆಜೆರನಿಗೆ ದಾಸರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅರಸರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಿಂದ ತಾವು ಸೋತುಹೋದೆವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು, ಅವರೊಡನೆ ಒಪ್ಪಂದ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಾಸರಾದರು. ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಧೈರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
