< 1 Thessalonians 5 >

1 But of the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that I write to you.
Concerning now the times and the seasons, brothers, no need you have to you to be written;
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
Yourselves for fully you know that (the *k) day of [the] Lord as a thief by night in this manner comes;
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes on them, as travail on a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
when (for *k) they may say; Peace and security, then suddenly upon them comes destruction as the labor pains to her in womb [pregnancy] having, and certainly not shall they escape.
4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
You yourselves however, brothers, not are in darkness, that the day you like (a thief *NK+O) may grasp;
5 You are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
All (for *no) you yourselves sons of light are and sons of day; Not we are of night nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
So then not we may sleep as (also *k) the others but we may watch and we may be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
Those for sleeping by night sleep and those becoming drunk by night get drunk;
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
We ourselves however of [the] day being may be sober having put on [the] breastplate of faith and love and [the] helmet [the] hope of salvation;
9 For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
because not has destined us God for wrath but for obtaining salvation through the Lord of us Jesus Christ
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
the [One who] having died (for *NK+o) us, so that whether we shall watch or we shall sleep together with Him we may live.
11 Why comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also you do.
Therefore do encourage one another and do build up one another even as also you are doing.
12 And we beseech you, brothers, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
We implore however you, brothers, to know those toiling among you and taking the lead over you in [the] Lord and admonishing you
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
and to esteem them super overexcessively super overexcessively super overexcessively in love because of the work of them. do be at peace among (yourselves. *NK+O)
14 Now we exhort you, brothers, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
We exhort now you, brothers, do admonish the unruly, do encourage the fainthearted, do help the weak, do be patient toward all.
15 See that none render evil for evil to any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
do see that no one evil for evil to anyone may repay, but always the good do pursue also toward one another and toward all.
16 Rejoice ever more.
Always do rejoice;
17 Pray without ceasing.
Unceasingly do pray;
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
In everything do give thanks; this for [is the] will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
The Spirit not do quench;
20 Despise not prophesyings.
Prophecies not do despise;
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
All things (now *no) do test; To the good do hold fast;
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
From every form of evil do abstain.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Himself now the God of peace would sanctify you completely, and entirely your spirit and soul and body blameless at the coming of the Lord of us Jesus Christ would be preserved.
24 Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it.
[Is] faithful the [One] calling you, who also will do [it].
25 Brothers, pray for us.
Brothers, do pray (also *no) for us.
26 Greet all the brothers with an holy kiss.
do greet the brothers all with a kiss holy.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.
(I adjure *N+kO) you [by] the Lord to be read [this] letter to all the (saints *K) brothers.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
The grace of the Lord of us Jesus Christ [be] with you. (Amen. *KO) (to Thessalonica first It was written from Athens. *K)
