Psalms 60

1 For the Leader; upon Shushan Eduth; Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the Valley of Salt twelve thousand. O God, Thou hast cast us off, Thou hast broken us down; Thou hast been angry; O restore us.

Przewodnikowi chóru, n[a Sussanedut. Miktam Dawida dla pouczenia]; [gdy walczył przeciw Syryjczykom Nacharaim i przeciw Syryjczykom Soby, gdy Joab, wracając, pobił dwanaście tysięcy Edomitów w Dolinie Soli. ] Boże, odrzuciłeś nas, rozproszyłeś nas [i] rozgniewałeś się; powróć znowu do nas.

2 Thou hast made the land to shake, Thou hast cleft it; heal the breaches thereof; for it tottereth.

Wstrząsnąłeś ziemią i rozdarłeś ją; ulecz jej rozpadliny, bo się chwieje.

3 Thou hast made Thy people to see hard things; Thou hast made us to drink the wine of staggering.

Okazywałeś twemu ludowi ciężkie rzeczy, napoiłeś nas winem odurzającym.

4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear Thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. (Selah)

Dałeś chorągiew tym, którzy się ciebie boją, aby wynieśli ją z powodu [twej] prawdy. (Sela)

5 That Thy beloved may be delivered, save with Thy right hand, and answer me.

Aby byli ocaleni twoi umiłowani, wybaw [ich] swoją prawicą i wysłuchaj mnie.

6 God spoke in His holiness, that I would exult; that I would divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

Bóg przemówił w swojej świętości; będę się radował, rozdzielę Sychem i wymierzę dolinę Sukkot.

7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the defence of my head; Judah is my sceptre.

Mój [jest] Gilead, mój i Manasses, Efraim mocą mojej głowy, Juda moim prawodawcą.

8 Moab is my washpot; upon Edom do I cast my shoe; Philistia, cry aloud because of me!

Moab moją misą do mycia, na Edom wrzucę mój but; Filisteo, wykrzykuj z mojego powodu.

9 Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me unto Edom?

Kto mnie wprowadzi do miasta warownego? Kto mnie doprowadzi aż do Edomu?

10 Hast not Thou, O God, cast us off? And Thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts.

Czy nie ty, o Boże, który nas odrzuciłeś i nie wychodziłeś, Boże, z naszymi wojskami?

11 Give us help against the adversary; for vain is the help of man.

Udziel nam pomocy w utrapieniu, bo próżna jest pomoc ludzka.

12 Through God we shall do valiantly; for He it is that will tread down our adversaries.

W Bogu będziemy mężni, bo on podepcze naszych nieprzyjaciół.
