Psalms 103

1 A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name.

Ég vil lofa Guð af öllu hjarta.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits;

Ég vil vegsama Drottin og minnast allra velgjörða hans við mig.

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquity; who healeth all Thy diseases;

Hann fyrirgefur syndir mínar. Hann læknar mig.

4 Who redeemeth Thy life from the pit; who encompasseth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Hann frelsar mig frá dauða. Hann umlykur mig náð og miskunn.

5 Who satisfieth thine old age with good things; so that Thy youth is renewed like the eagle.

Hann hleður á mig gjöfum! Hann endurnýjar lífsþrótt minn og gerir mig sterkan sem örn.

6 The LORD executeth righteousness, and acts of justice for all that are oppressed.

Hann réttir hlut þeirra sem misrétti þola.

7 He made known His ways unto Moses, His doings unto the children of Israel.

Hann opinberaði Móse vilja sinn og hver hann væri og einnig þjóð sinni Ísrael.

8 The LORD is full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

Hann er miskunnsamur og mildur við þá sem eiga það ekki skilið. Hann er seinn til reiði og fullur náðar og kærleika.

9 He will not always contend; neither will He keep His anger for ever.

Hann er ekki langrækinn né eilíflega reiður.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins, nor requited us according to our iniquities.

Hann hefur ekki refsað okkur fyrir syndir okkar eins og sanngjarnt var

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him.

því að miskunn hans við þá sem óttast hann og heiðra, er eins há og himinninn er yfir jörðinni.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.

Hann fleygði burt syndum okkar og það langt, já, eins langt og austrið er frá vestrinu!

13 Like as a father hath compassion upon his children, so hath the LORD compassion upon them that fear Him.

Eins og faðir miskunnar börnum sínum, eins hefur Drottinn miskunnað þeim sem óttast hann,

14 For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.

því hann veit að við erum bara dauðlegir menn

15 As for man, his days are as grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

og að ævi okkar er stutt og líður hratt. Við erum eins og jurt sem vex og blómgast

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof knoweth it no more.

en skrælnar fyrr en varir í brennheitum vindinum, deyr og gleymist.

17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him, and His righteousness unto children's children;

En miskunn Drottins endist að eilífu fyrir þá sem reiða sig á orð hans og óttast hann.

18 To such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember His precepts to do them.

Og hjálpræði hans nær til barnabarnanna ef við höldum sáttmála hans og hlýðum boðum hans.

19 The LORD hath established His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom ruleth over all.

Drottinn hefur reist sér hásæti á himnum og þaðan stjórnar hann heiminum.

20 Bless the LORD, ye angels of His, ye mighty in strength, that fulfil His word, hearkening unto the voice of His word.

Lofið Drottin, þið voldugu englar sem framkvæmið skipanir hans og takið við fyrirmælum hans.

21 Bless the LORD, all ye His hosts; ye ministers of His, that do His pleasure.

Lofið Drottin, þið hersveitir englanna sem framfylgið vilja hans.

22 Bless the LORD, all ye His works, in all places of His dominion; bless the LORD, O my soul.

Öll verk Drottins, um víða veröld, lofa hann! Einnig ég vil lofa hann!
