Proverbs 5
1 My son, attend unto my wisdom; incline thine ear to my understanding;
Figliuol mio, attendi alla mia sapienza, Inchina il tuo orecchio al mio intendimento;
2 That thou mayest preserve discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
Acciocchè tu osservi gli avvedimenti, E che le tue labbra conservino la scienza.
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
Perciocchè le labbra della [donna] straniera stillano favi di miele. E il suo palato [è] più dolce che olio;
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Ma il fine di essa [è] amaro come assenzio, Acuto come una spada a due tagli.
I suoi piedi scendono alla morte; I suoi passi fanno capo all'inferno. (Sheol h7585)
6 Lest she should walk the even path of life, her ways wander, but she knoweth it not.
I suoi sentieri sono vaganti, senza che essa sappia ove va, Perchè non considera attentamente la via della vita.
7 Now therefore, O ye children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Ora dunque, figliuoli, ascoltatemi, E non vi dipartite da' detti della mia bocca.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house;
Allontana la tua via da essa, E non accostarti all'uscio della sua casa;
9 Lest thou give thy vigour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
Che talora tu non dia il tuo onore agli stranieri, E gli anni tuoi al crudele;
10 Lest strangers be filled with thy strength, and thy labours be in the house of an alien;
Che talora i forestieri non si sazino delle tue facoltà; E che le tue fatiche [non vadano] nella casa dello strano;
11 And thou moan, when thine end cometh, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
[E che tu non] gema alla fine, Quando la tua carne ed il tuo corpo saranno consumati;
12 And say: 'How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
E non dica: Come ebbi io in odio l'ammaestramento? E come rigettò il mio cuore la correzione?
13 Neither have I hearkened to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
E [come] non ascoltai la voce di quelli che mi ammaestravano, E non inchinai il mio orecchio a quelli che m'insegnavano?
14 I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.'
Quasi che sono stato in ogni male, In mezzo della raunanza e della congregazione.
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
Bevi delle acque della tua cisterna, E de' ruscelli di mezzo della tua fonte.
16 Let thy springs be dispersed abroad, and courses of water in the streets.
Spandansi le tue fonti fuori, Ed i ruscelli delle [tue] acque per le piazze.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
Sieno [quelle acque] a te solo, E a niuno strano teco.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
Sia la tua fonte benedetta; E rallegrati della moglie della tua giovanezza.
19 A lovely hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; with her love be thou ravished always.
[Siati ella] una cerva amorosa, ed una cavriuola graziosa; Inebbrinti le sue mammelle in ogni tempo; Sii del continuo invaghito del suo amore.
20 Why then wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of an alien?
E perchè, figliuol mio, t'invaghiresti della straniera, Ed abbracceresti il seno della forestiera?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He maketh even all his paths.
Conciossiachè le vie dell'uomo [sieno] davanti agli occhi del Signore, E ch'egli consideri tutti i suoi sentieri.
22 His own iniquities shall ensnare the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
Le iniquità dell'empio lo prenderanno, Ed egli sarà ritenuto con le funi del suo peccato.
23 He shall die for lack of instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall reel.
Egli morrà per mancamento di correzione; E andrà errando per la molta sua pazzia.
