Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart are man's, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
Del hombre es preparar el corazón, mas la respuesta de la lengua viene de Yahvé.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
Todos los caminos parecen limpios a los ojos del hombre, pero es Dios quien pesa los espíritus.
3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Encomienda a Yahvé tus planes, y tendrán éxito tus proyectos.
4 The LORD hath made every things for His own purpose, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Todo lo ha creado Yahvé para su fin, aun al impío para el día aciago.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; my hand upon it! he shall not be unpunished.
Todo altivo de corazón es abominación para Yahvé, será castigado indefectiblemente.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is expiated; and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
Con misericordia y fidelidad se expía la culpa, y con el temor de Dios (el hombre) se aparta del mal.
7 When a man's ways please the LORD, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Cuando los caminos de un hombre son agradables a Yahvé, Este reconcilia con él a sus enemigos.
8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice.
Mejor poco con justicia, que grandes ganancias con injusticia.
9 A man's heart deviseth his way; but the LORD directeth his steps.
El corazón del hombre proyecta sus caminos, pero Yahvé dirige sus pasos.
10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; his mouth trespasseth not in judgment.
Los labios del rey pronuncian oráculos; no peca su boca cuando dicta sentencia.
11 A just balance and scales are the LORD'S; all the weights of the bag are His work.
Balanza y platillos justos son de Dios, y obra suya son todas las pesas de la bolsa.
12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; for the throne is established by righteousness.
Aborrecen los reyes a los malhechores, pues la justicia es el apoyo del trono.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
Placen a los reyes los labios justos, y les agradan los que hablan con rectitud.
14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death; but a wise man will pacify it.
La ira del rey anuncio es de muerte; pero el varón sabio la aplaca.
15 In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
El semblante alegre del rey significa vida, y su favor es como nube de lluvia primaveral.
16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.
Adquirir sabiduría vale más que el oro, y mejor que la plata es poseer la inteligencia.
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
La senda de los justos es huir del mal; guarda su alma el que guarda sus pasos.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
La soberbia precede a la caída, y la altivez de espíritu a la ruina.
19 Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the humble, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Mejor ser humilde con los humildes, que repartir despojos con los soberbios.
20 He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good; and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
El que está atento a la palabra, saca provecho, y el que confía en Yahvé es dichoso.
21 The wise in heart is called a man of discernment; and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
El sabio de corazón es llamado prudente; y la dulzura en el hablar aumenta los frutos de la enseñanza.
22 Understanding is a fountain of life unto him that hath it; but folly is the chastisement of fools.
Fuente de vida es la sabiduría para quien la posee pero el castigo del necio es su necedad.
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
El corazón del sabio es maestro de su boca, en sus labios crece la doctrina.
24 Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Panal de miel son las palabras amables; delicia del alma y medicina de los huesos.
25 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Camino hay que al hombre le parece recto, pero en su remate está la muerte.
26 The hunger of the labouring man laboureth for him; for his mouth compelleth him.
El que se afana, para sí se afana; a esto le estimula su boca.
27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil, and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
El hombre perverso se cava la desventura; sobre sus labios hay como llamas de fuego.
28 A froward man soweth strife; and a whisperer separateth familiar friends.
El hombre depravado provoca contiendas, y el chismoso siembra discordia entre los amigos.
29 A man of violence enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into a way that is not good.
El inicuo halaga a su prójimo y así lo lleva por malos caminos.
30 He that shutteth his eyes, it is to devise froward things; he that biteth his lips bringeth evil to pass.
Cuando uno guiña los ojos maquina maldades, y cuando se muerde los labios, las lleva a cabo.
31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, it is found in the way of righteousness.
Corona de gloria es la canicie, se la halla en el camino de la justicia.
32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
El hombre sosegado es superior al valiente, y el que es señor de sí vale más que el conquistador de una ciudad.
33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
En el regazo se echan las suertes, pero de Yahvé depende toda decisión.
