Proverbs 15
1 A soft answer turneth away wrath; but a grievous word stirreth up anger.
੧ਨਰਮ ਉੱਤਰ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਠੰਡਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕਠੋਰ ਬਚਨ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੂੰ ਭੜਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright; but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
੨ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਬਸ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਨਿੱਕਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.
੩ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਭਲੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੱਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
4 A soothing tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a wound to the spirit.
੪ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਪੁੱਠੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
5 A fool despiseth his father's correction; but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
੫ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਤੁੱਛ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ।
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure; but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
੬ਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; but the heart of the foolish is not stedfast.
੭ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਲੋਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਫੈਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD; but the prayer of the upright is His delight.
੮ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਤੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD; but He loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
੯ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
10 There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; and he that hateth reproof shall die.
੧੦ਜਿਹੜਾ ਰਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਝਿੜਕ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਰੇਗਾ।
11 The nether-world and Destruction are before the LORD; how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
੧੧ਪਤਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਨਾਸ਼ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਭਲਾ, ਆਦਮ ਵੰਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਨਾ ਹੋਣਗੇ? (Sheol h7585)
12 A scorner loveth not to be reproved; he will not go unto the wise.
੧੨ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਤੇ ਨਾ ਉਹ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
੧੩ਮਨ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੁਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਸੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
14 The heart of him that hath discernment seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
੧੪ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਲੋਕ ਮੂਰਖਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੇਟ ਭਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
15 All the days of the poor are evil; but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
੧੫ਦੁੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਬੁਰੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਚੰਗੇ ਮਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਾਵਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and turmoil therewith.
੧੬ਉਹ ਥੋੜਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭੈਅ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਹੋਵੇ।
17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
੧੭ਸਾਗ ਪਤ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੈ, ਪਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਬਲ਼ਦ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੈਰ ਹੈ, ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
18 A wrathful man stirreth up discord; but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
੧੮ਕ੍ਰੋਧੀ ਛੇੜਖਾਨੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੀਮਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਝਗੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਟਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
19 The way of the sluggard is as though hedged by thorns; but the path of the upright is even.
੧੯ਆਲਸੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਕੰਡਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਬਾੜ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਰਾਜ ਮਾਰਗ ਹੈ।
20 A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
੨੦ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਚ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
21 Folly is joy to him that lacketh understanding; but a man of discernment walketh straightforwards.
੨੧ਨਿਰਬੁੱਧ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਚਾਲ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
22 For want of counsel purposes are frustrated; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
੨੨ਜੇ ਸਲਾਹ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਕਸਦ ਰੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜੇ ਸਲਾਹ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਾਇਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
23 A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; and a word in due season, how good is it!
੨੩ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਚਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਰ ਕਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕਿਹਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
24 The path of life goeth upward for the wise, that he may depart from the nether-world beneath. (Sheol h7585)
੨੪ਸਿਆਣੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਉਤਾਹਾਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਹੇਠੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਰਹੇ। (Sheol h7585)
25 The LORD will pluck up the house of the proud; but He will establish the border of the widow.
੨੫ਹੰਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਢਾਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਦੇ ਬੰਨਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
26 The thoughts of wickedness are an abomination to the LORD; but words of pleasantness are pure.
੨੬ਬੁਰਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਬਚਨ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹਨ।
27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
੨੭ਨਫ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਲੋਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਟੱਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੱਢੀ ਤੋਂ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
੨੮ਧਰਮੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸੋਚ ਕੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਬੁਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
29 The LORD is far from the wicked; but He heareth the prayer of the righteous.
੨੯ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; and a good report maketh the bones fat.
੩੦ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
31 The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
੩੧ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਵੱਸੇਗਾ।
32 He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; but he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.
੩੨ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਅਣਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਤੁੱਛ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਵੱਲ ਕੰਨ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour goeth humility.
੩੩ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਣ ਨਾਲ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਨਮਰਤਾ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
