Judges 21
1 Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpah, saying: 'There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.'
௧இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் மிஸ்பாவிலே இருக்கும்போது: நம்மில் ஒருவனும் தன்னுடைய மகளைப் பென்யமீனர்களுக்கு திருமணம் செய்துகொடுப்பதில்லை என்று சத்தியம் செய்திருந்தார்கள்.
2 And the people came to Beth-el, and sat there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore.
௨ஆகவே, மக்கள் பெத்தேலுக்குப்போய், அங்கே தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக மாலைவரை உட்கார்ந்திருந்து, சத்தமிட்டு மிகவும் அழுது:
3 And they said: 'O LORD, the God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to-day one tribe lacking in Israel?'
௩இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவே, இன்று இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு கோத்திரம் குறைந்துபோகும்படி இஸ்ரவேலில் இந்தக் காரியம் சம்பவித்தது என்ன என்றார்கள்.
4 And it came to pass on the morrow that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings.
௪மறுநாளிலே, மக்கள் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டி, சர்வாங்கதகனபலிகளையும் சமாதானபலிகளையும் செலுத்தினார்கள்.
5 And the children of Israel said: 'Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up in the assembly unto the LORD?' For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up unto the LORD to Mizpah, saying: 'He shall surely be put to death.'
௫யெகோவாவுடைய சந்நிதியில் மிஸ்பாவுக்கு வராதவன் நிச்சயமாகக் கொலைசெய்யப்படவேண்டும் என்று அவர்கள் பெரிய ஆணையிட்டிருந்தபடியால், இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள்: யெகோவாவுடைய சந்நிதியில் சபைகூடினபோது, இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லாக் கோத்திரங்களிலுமிருந்து வராமல்போனவர்கள் யார் என்று விசாரித்தார்கள்.
6 And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said: 'There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day.
௬இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் தங்கள் சகோதரனாகிய பென்யமீனனை நினைத்து, வேதனையடைந்து: இன்று இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு கோத்திரம் அறுப்புண்டு போயிற்றே.
7 How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?'
௭மீதியாக இருப்பவர்களுக்கு மனைவிகள் கிடைக்க நாம் அவர்களுக்கு என்ன செய்யலாம்? நம்முடைய மகள்களில் ஒருத்தியையும் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பதில்லை என்று நாம் யெகோவா மேல் ஆணையிட்டுக் கொண்டோமே.
8 And they said: 'What one is there of the tribes of Israel that came not up unto the LORD to Mizpah?' And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabesh-gilead to the assembly.
௮இஸ்ரவேலின் கோத்திரங்களில் மிஸ்பாவிலே யெகோவாவுடைய சந்நிதியில் வராமல் போனவர் உண்டோ என்று விசாரித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள யாபேசின் மனிதர்களில் ஒருவரும் முகாமில் சபைகூடினபோது வரவில்லை.
9 For when the people were numbered, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead there.
௯மக்கள் கணக்கு பார்க்கப்பட்டபோது, கீலேயாத்திலிருக்கிற யாபேசின் குடியிருப்புகளில் அங்கே ஒருவரும் இருக்கவில்லை.
10 And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying: 'Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the little ones.
௧0உடனே சபையார் பெலவான்களில் பன்னிரண்டாயிரம்பேரை அங்கே அழைத்து: நீங்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள யாபேசிற்குப் போய், பெண்களையும் பிள்ளைகளையும்கூட கூர்மையான பட்டயத்தால் கொன்றுபோடுங்கள்.
11 And this is the thing that ye shall do: ye shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath lain by man.'
௧௧எல்லா ஆண்பிள்ளைகளையும், திருமணமான எல்லா பெண்பிள்ளைகளையும் கொன்றுபோடவேண்டும் என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளை கொடுத்து அனுப்பினார்கள்.
12 And they found among the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead four hundred young virgins, that had not known man by lying with him; and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.
௧௨இவர்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள யாபேசின் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களிடத்தில் திருமணமாகாத 400 கன்னிப்பெண்களைக் கண்டுபிடித்து, அவர்களைக் கானான்தேசமான சீலோவிலிருக்கிற முகாமிற்கு கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
13 And the whole congregation sent and spoke to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock of Rimmon, and proclaimed peace unto them.
௧௩அப்பொழுது ரிம்மோன் கன்மலையிலிருக்கிற பென்யமீன் மக்களோடு பேசவும், அவர்களுக்குச் சமாதானம் கூறவும், சபையார் எல்லோரும் செய்தி அனுப்பினார்கள்.
14 And Benjamin returned at that time; and they gave them the women whom they had saved alive of the women of Jabesh-gilead; and yet so they sufficed them not.
௧௪எனவே, அக்காலத்தில் பென்யமீனர்கள் திரும்ப வந்தார்கள்; கீலேயாத்திலிருக்கிற யாபேசின் பெண்களில் உயிரோடு வைத்த பெண்களை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்; அப்படிச் செய்தும் அவர்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் பெண்கள் போதாமலிருந்தது.
15 And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.
௧௫இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களிலே யெகோவா ஒரு பிரிவை உண்டாக்கினார் என்று மக்கள் பென்யமீனர்களுக்காக மனவேதனை அடைந்தார்கள்.
16 Then the elders of the congregation said: 'How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?'
௧௬பென்யமீன் கோத்திர பெண்கள் இறந்தபடியினாலே, மீதியான மற்றவர்களுக்கும் மனைவிகள் கிடைக்கும்படி என்ன செய்யலாம் என்று சபையின் மூப்பர்கள் கேட்டு,
17 And they said: 'They that are escaped must be as an inheritance for Benjamin, that a tribe be not blotted out from Israel.
௧௭இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு கோத்திரம் அழிந்துபோகாதபடி, தப்பினவர்களுடைய சுதந்தரம் பென்யமீனுக்கு இருக்கவேண்டுமே,
18 Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters.' For the children of Israel had sworn, saying: 'Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.'
௧௮நாமோ நம்முடைய மகள்களில் அவர்களுக்கு பெண் கொடுக்கக்கூடாது; பென்யமீனர்களுக்குப் பெண் கொடுக்கிறவன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவன் என்று, இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் ஆணையிட்டார்களே என்றார்கள்.
19 And they said: 'Behold, there is the feast of the LORD from year to year in Shiloh, which is on the north of Beth-el, on the east side of the highway that goeth up from Beth-el to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.'
௧௯பின்னும், இதோ, பெத்தேலுக்கு வடக்கில் பெத்தேலிலிருந்து சீகேமுக்குப் போகிற பாதைக்குக் கிழக்காகவும் லிபோனாவுக்குத் தெற்காகவும் இருக்கிற சீலோவிலே ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பண்டிகை கொண்டாடப்படுகிறதே என்று சொல்லி,
20 And they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying: 'Go and lie in wait in the vineyards;
௨0அவர்கள் பென்யமீன் மனிதர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் போய், திராட்சைத் தோட்டங்களிலே மறைந்திருந்து,
21 and see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in the dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.
௨௧சீலோவின் பெண்பிள்ளைகள் கீதவாத்தியத்தோடு நடனம் செய்கிறவர்களாகப் புறப்பட்டு வருகிறதை நீங்கள் பார்க்கும்போது, திராட்சைத் தோட்டங்களிலிருந்து விரைந்து, உங்களில் அவரவர் சீலோவின் பெண்பிள்ளைகளில் ஒவ்வொரு பெண்ணைப் பிடித்துப் பென்யமீன் தேசத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோங்கள்.
22 And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come to strive with us, that we will say unto them: Grant them graciously unto us; because we took not for each man of them his wife in battle; neither did ye give them unto them, that ye should now be guilty.'
௨௨அவர்களுடைய தகப்பன்மார்களாகிலும், சகோதரர்களாகிலும் எங்களிடத்தில் முறையிட வரும்போது, நாங்கள் அவர்களை நோக்கி: எங்களுக்காக அவர்களுக்குத் தயவு செய்யுங்கள்; நாங்கள் யுத்தம் செய்து, அவனவனுக்கு மனைவியைப் பிடித்துக்கொடுக்கவில்லை; உங்கள்மேல் குற்றமுண்டாக, இப்போது நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு உங்கள் மகள்களைக் கொடுக்கவும் இல்லை என்போம் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.
23 And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they carried off; and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and built the cities, and dwelt in them.
௨௩பென்யமீன் மக்கள் அப்படியே செய்து, நடனம்செய்கிறவர்களிலே தங்கள் எண்ணிக்கைக்குச் சரியான பெண்களை மனைவிகளாகப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, தங்கள் சுதந்தரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், பட்டணங்களைப் புதுப்பித்துக் கட்டி, அவைகளில் குடியிருந்தார்கள்.
24 And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.
௨௪இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களும் அக்காலத்திலே அவ்விடம் விட்டு அவரவர் தங்கள் கோத்திரத்திற்கும் தங்கள் குடும்பத்திற்கும் போய், அவரவர் தங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தில் சேர்ந்தார்கள்.
25 In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
௨௫அந்த நாட்களிலே இஸ்ரவேலில் ராஜா இல்லை; அவனவன் தன்னுடைய பார்வைக்குச் சரியானபடி செய்து வந்தான்.
