Joel 3

1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring back the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

Parce que voilà qu’en ces jours-là et en ce temps-là, lorsque j’aurai ramené les captifs de Juda et de Jérusalem,

2 I will gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there for My people and for My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and divided My land.

J’assemblerai tous les peuples, et je les conduirai dans la vallée de Josaphat, et là, j’entrerai en jugement avec eux touchant mon peuple et mon héritage, Israël, qu’ils ont dispersés parmi les nations; et ma terre, ils l’ont partagée;

3 And they have cast lots for My people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, and have drunk.

Et sur mon peuple ils ont jeté le sort; et ils ont exposé le jeune enfant dans un lieu de prostitution, et la jeune fille, ils l’ont vendue pour du vin, afin de boire.

4 And also what are ye to Me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the regions of Philistia? will ye render retribution on My behalf? and if ye render retribution on My behalf, swiftly, speedily will I return your retribution upon your own head.

Mais qu’y a-t-il entre moi et vous, Tyr et Sidon, et toi, terre entière des Philistins? Est-ce que vous tirerez vengeance de moi? Mais si vous vous vengez de moi, je vous rendrai la pareille promptement, tout d’un coup, sur votre propre tête.

5 Forasmuch as ye have taken My silver and My gold, and have carried into your temples My goodly treasures;

Car vous avez enlevé mon argent et mon or, et toutes mes choses précieuses et très belles, vous les avez emportées dans vos temples.

6 the children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the sons of Jevanim, that ye might remove them far from their border;

Et les fils de Juda et les fils de Jérusalem, vous les avez vendus aux fils des Grecs, afin de les éloigner de leurs confins.

7 behold, I will stir them up out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your retribution upon your own head;

Et moi, je les retirerai du lieu dans lequel vous les avez vendus et je ferai retomber ce que vous leur avez fait sur votre tête.

8 and I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the men of Sheba, to a nation far off; for the LORD hath spoken.

Et je vendrai vos fils et vos filles par les mains des fils de Juda; ils les vendront aux Sabéens, à une nation éloignée; parce que c’est le Seigneur qui a parlé.

9 Proclaim ye this among the nations, prepare war; stir up the mighty men; let all the men of war draw near, let them come up.

Criez ceci parmi les nations: Consacrez une guerre, réveillez les braves; qu’ils s’approchent, qu’ils montent, tous les hommes de guerre.

10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning-hooks into spears; let the weak say: 'I am strong.'

Taillez vos charrues en glaives et vos boyaux en lances. Que le faible dise: Je suis fort, moi.

11 Haste ye, and come, all ye nations round about, and gather yourselves together; thither cause Thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD!

Faites une sortie, et venez, vous toutes, nations d’alentour, rassemblez-vous; c’est là que le Seigneur fera tomber tes braves.

12 Let the nations be stirred up, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat; for there will I sit to judge all the nations round about.

Que les nations se lèvent et montent dans la vallée de Josaphat, parce que c’est là que je serai assis, afin de juger toutes les nations d’alentour.

13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe; come, tread ye, for the winepress is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

Mettez les faucilles dans le blé, parce que la moisson est mûre; venez, et descendez, parce que le pressoir est plein, que les pressoirs regorgent; parce que leur malice s’est multipliée.

14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

Peuples, peuples, accourez dans la vallée du carnage; parce qu’est proche le jour du Seigneur, dans la vallée du carnage.

15 The sun and the moon are become black, and the stars withdraw their shining.

Le soleil et la lune se sont couverts de ténèbres, et les étoiles ont retiré leur splendeur.

16 And the LORD shall roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth shall shake; but the LORD will be a refuge unto His people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel.

Et le Seigneur rugira de Sion; et de Jérusalem il fera entendre sa voix; et le ciel et la terre seront ébranlés; et le Seigneur sera l’espérance de son peuple, et la force des fils d’Israël.

17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God, dwelling in Zion My holy mountain; then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

Et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu, habitant dans Sion, ma montagne sainte; et Jérusalem sera sainte, et les étrangers ne la traverseront plus.

18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the brooks of Judah shall flow with waters; and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que les montagnes distilleront la douceur, et que le lait coulera des collines, et que dans tous les ruisseaux de Juda se répandront les eaux, et qu’une fontaine sortira de la maison du Seigneur, et remplira le torrent des épines.

19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

L’Egypte sera désolée, l’Idumée un désert de perdition, parce qu’elles ont agi iniquement envers les fils de Juda, et qu’elles ont répandu un sang innocent sur leur terre.

20 But Judah shall be inhabited for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

Et la Judée sera éternellement habitée, et Jérusalem dans toutes les générations.

21 And I will hold as innocent their blood that I have not held as innocent; and the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

Et je purifierai leur sang que je n’avais pas encore purifié;
