Job 11
1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
Entonces Sofar naamatita tomó la palabra y dijo:
2 Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be accounted right?
“¿Acaso no hay que contestar al que vomita palabras? ¿el hombre verboso ha de tener razón?
3 Thy boastings have made men hold their peace, and thou hast mocked, with none to make thee ashamed;
¿Tu palabrería hará callar a los hombres? y cuanto te burlas, ¿no habrá quien te confunda?
4 And thou hast said: 'My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in Thine eyes.'
Tú has dicho: “Mi doctrina es pura, y limpio estoy ante tus ojos.”
5 But oh that God would speak, and open His lips against thee;
¡Ojalá que hablase Dios y abriera sus labios contra ti,
6 And that He would tell thee the secrets of wisdom, that sound wisdom is manifold! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
para descubrirte los arcanos de la sabiduría! —pues son muy diversos sus designios— entonces verías que Dios castiga solamente una parte de tu culpa.
7 Canst thou find out the deep things of God? Canst thou attain unto the purpose of the Almighty?
¿Pretendes acaso penetrar en las profundidades de Dios, hasta la perfección del Omnipotente?
8 It is high as heaven; what canst thou do? Deeper than the nether-world; what canst thou know? (Sheol h7585)
Es más alta que el cielo, ¿qué podrás hacer? más honda que el scheol, ¿cómo podrás conocerlo? (Sheol h7585)
9 The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
más extensa que la tierra, y más ancha que el mar.
10 If He pass by, and shut up, or gather in, then who can hinder Him?
Si Él acomete, cerrando el paso, y llama a juicio, ¿quién podrá disuadírselo?
11 For He knoweth base men; and when He seeth iniquity, will He not then consider it?
Porque Él conoce a los perversos, y ve la iniquidad, aunque parece disimularla.
12 But an empty man will get understanding, when a wild ass's colt is born a man.
¿Puede acaso el necio pasar por inteligente, el pollino del asno montés por hombre?
13 If thou set thy heart aright, and stretch out thy hands toward Him —
Si tú dispones tu corazón, y levantas hacia Él tus manos,
14 If iniquity be in thy hand, put it far away, and let not unrighteousness dwell in thy tents —
si alejas la iniquidad que hay en tus manos, y no permites a la maldad que habite bajo tu tienda,
15 Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear;
entonces alzarás tu rostro sin mácula, te sentirás seguro, y nada temerás;
16 For thou shalt forget thy misery; thou shalt remember it as waters that are passed away;
te olvidarás de los dolores, y si de ellos te acuerdas es como de aguas que pasaron.
17 And thy life shall be clearer than the noonday; though there be darkness, it shall be as the morning.
Entonces tu vida surgirá más resplandeciente que el mediodía, las tinieblas te serán como la mañana,
18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt look about thee, and shalt take thy rest in safety.
tendrás seguridad por tener esperanza, echarás una mirada en torno, y dormirás tranquilo;
19 Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
te acostarás, y no habrá quien te espante, y muchos acariciarán tu rostro.
20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall have no way to flee, and their hope shall be the drooping of the soul.
Pero los ojos de los impíos desfallecerán; para ellos no habrá escape alguno; su esperanza será exhalar el alma.”
