Jeremiah 35

1 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:

Parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie par le Seigneur, dans les jours de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, disant:

2 'Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.'

Vas à la maison des Réchabites, et parle-leur; et tu les introduiras dans la maison du Seigneur, dans une des salles des trésors; et tu leur donneras à boire du vin.

3 Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;

Et je pris Jézonias, fils de Jérémie, fils d’Habsanias, et ses frères, et tous ses fils, et toute la maison des Réchabites;

4 and I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door;

Et je les introduisis dans la maison du Seigneur, dans la chambre du trésor des fils d’Hanan, fils de Jégédélias, homme de Dieu, laquelle chambre était près de la chambre du trésor des princes, au-dessus du trésor de Maasias, fils de Sellum, qui était garde du vestibule.

5 and I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites goblets full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them: 'Drink ye wine.'

Et je mis devant les enfants de la maison des Réchabites des tasses pleines de vin et des coupes; et je leur dis: Buvez du vin.

6 But they said: 'We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying: Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons, for ever;

Et ils répondirent: Nous ne boirons pas de vin, parce que Jonadab, notre père, fils de Réchab, nous a ordonné, disant: Vous ne boirez jamais de vin, ni vous, ni vos enfants;

7 neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any; but all your days ye shall dwell in tents, that ye may live many days in the land wherein ye sojourn.

Et vous ne bâtirez pas de maison, et vous ne sèmerez point de grains, et vous ne planterez pas de vignes, et vous n’en aurez point à vous, mais vous habiterez sous des tabernacles tous vos jours, afin que vous viviez de longs jours sur la terre dans laquelle vous êtes étrangers.

8 And we have hearkened to the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;

Nous avons donc obéi à la voix de Jonadab, notre père, fils de Réchab, dans toutes les choses qu’il nous a ordonnées, en sorte que nous n’avons pas bu de vin durant tous nos jours, ni nous, ni nos femmes, ni nos fils, ni nos filles.

9 nor to build houses for us to dwell in, neither to have vineyard, or field, or seed;

Et que nous n’avons pas bâti de maisons pour y habiter; et nous n’avons eu ni vigne, ni champ, ni grain.

10 but we have dwelt in tents, and have hearkened, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

Mais nous avons habité dans des tabernacles, et nous avons obéi à toutes les choses que nous a ordonnées Jonadab notre père.

11 But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up against the land, that we said: Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Arameans; so we dwell at Jerusalem.'

Mais lorsque Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, est monté dans notre terre, nous avons dit: Venez, et entrons dans Jérusalem, à cause de l’armée des Chaldéens et à cause de l’armée de Syrie; et nous sommes demeurés dans Jérusalem.

12 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying:

Et la parole du Seigneur a été adressée à Jérémie, disant:

13 'Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Go, and say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to My words? saith the LORD.

Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées, Dieu d’Israël: Va, et dis aux hommes de Juda et aux habitants de Jérusalem: Est-ce que vous ne recevrez jamais la correction, afin d’obéir à mes paroles, dit le Seigneur?

14 The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed, and unto this day they drink none, for they hearken to their father's commandment; but I have spoken unto you, speaking betimes and often, and ye have not hearkened unto Me.

Elles ont prévalu, les paroles de Jonadab, fils de Réchab, par lesquelles il ordonna à ses enfants de ne point boire de vin, et ils n’en ont pas bu jusqu’à ce jour, parce qu’ils ont obéi au précepte de leur père; mais moi je vous ai parlé, me levant dès le matin, et parlant, et vous ne m’avez pas obéi.

15 I have sent also unto you all My servants the prophets, sending them betimes and often, saying: Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers; but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto Me.

Et j’ai envoyé vers vous mes serviteurs, les prophètes, me levant au point du jour, envoyant, et disant: Détournez-vous chacun de vos voies très mauvaises, et rendez bonnes vos œuvres; ne suivez pas des dieux étrangers, et ne les adorez pas; et vous habiterez dans la terre que je vous ai donnée à vous et à vos pères; et vous n’avez pas incliné votre oreille, et vous ne m’avez pas écouté.

16 Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people hath not hearkened unto Me;

Ainsi les enfants de Jonadab, fils de Réchab, ont gardé fermement l’ordre que leur père leur avait donné; mais ce peuple ne m’a pas obéi.

17 therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them; because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard, and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.'

C’est pourquoi voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées, Dieu d’Israël: Voilà que moi j’amènerai sur Juda et sur tous les habitants de Jérusalem toute l’affliction que j’ai prononcée contre eux; parce que je leur ai parlé, et ils n’ont pas écouté; je les ai appelés, et ils ne m’ont pas répondu.

18 And unto the house of the Rechabites Jeremiah said: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Because ye have hearkened to the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he commanded you;

Or Jérémie dit à la maison des Réchabites: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées. Dieu d’Israël: Parce que vous avez obéi au précepte de Jonadab votre père, que vous avez gardé tous ses commandements, et que vous avez fait toutes les choses qu’il vous a ordonnées;

19 therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: There shall not be cut off unto Jonadab the son of Rechab a man to stand before Me for ever.'

À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées. Dieu d’Israël: Il ne manquera pas dans la race de Jonadab, fils de Réchab, d’homme se tenant tous les jours en ma présence.
