Isaiah 31
1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many, and in horsemen, because they are exceeding mighty; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
Malheur à ceux qui descendent en Egypte chercher du secours, qui s'appuient sur les chevaux, mettent leur confiance dans les chars, parce qu'ils sont nombreux, et dans les cavaliers, parce qu'ils sont forts, mais ne regardent pas vers le Saint d'Israël, et ne recherchent pas Yahweh.
2 Yet He also is wise, and bringeth evil, and doth not call back His words; but will arise against the house of the evil-doers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.
Cependant il est sage, il fait venir le malheur, il ne révoque pas ses paroles; il s'élèvera contre la maison des méchants, et contre le secours de ceux qui commettent l'iniquité.
3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God, and their horses flesh, and not spirit; so when the LORD shall stretch out His hand, both he that helpeth shall stumble, and he that is helped shall fall, and they all shall perish together.
L'Egyptien est un homme, et non un Dieu; ses chevaux sont chair, et non esprit; Yahweh étendra sa main, celui qui secourt trébuchera, et le secouru tombera, et ils périront tous ensemble.
4 For thus saith the LORD unto me: Like as the lion, or the young lion, growling over his prey, though a multitude of shepherds be called forth against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them; so will the LORD of hosts come down to fight upon mount Zion, and upon the hill thereof.
Car ainsi m'a parlé Yahweh: comme le lion rugit, ainsi que le jeune lion, sur sa proie, alors que se rassemble contre lui la multitude des bergers, sans se laisser effrayer par leurs cris, ni troubler par leur nombre: ainsi Yahweh des armées descendra pour combattre, sur la montagne de Sion et sur sa colline.
5 As birds hovering, so will the LORD of hosts protect Jerusalem; He will deliver it as He protecteth it, He will rescue it as He passeth over.
Comme des oiseaux déployant leurs ailes sur leur couvée, ainsi Yahweh des armées couvrira Jérusalem; il couvrira, il sauvera, il passera, il délivrera.
6 Turn ye unto Him against whom ye have deeply rebelled, O children of Israel.
Revenez donc à celui dont vous vous êtes tant éloignés, enfants d'Israël.
7 For in that day they shall cast away every man his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.
Car en ce jour-là chacun rejettera ses idoles d'argent et ses idoles d'or, que vous avez fabriquées de vos mains pour pécher.
8 Then shall Asshur fall with the sword, not of man, and the sword, not of men, shall devour him; and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become tributary.
Et Assur tombera par une épée qui n'est pas de l'homme; une épée qui n'est pas d'un mortel le dévorera; il fuiera devant l'épée, et ses jeunes gens seront assujettis au tribut.
9 And his rock shall pass away by reason of terror, and his princes shall be dismayed at the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, and His furnace in Jerusalem.
Son rocher fuira d'épouvante, et ses princes tremblants déserteront l'étendard. — oracle de Yahweh, qui a son feu dans Sion, et sa fournaise dans Jérusalem.
