Ezekiel 17
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich:
2 'Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel,
"Geh, Menschensohn! Verkünde einen Rätselspruch, ein Gleichnis von dem Hause Israel
3 and say: Thus saith the Lord GOD: A great eagle with great wings and long pinions, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the top of the cedar;
und sprich: 'So spricht der Herr, der Herr: Der große Adler mit den großen Flügeln und mit der langen Schwungfeder, mit starken Schwingen, die Schnelligkeit besaßen, kam auf den Libanon, ein dünnes Zedernreis zu holen.
4 He cropped off the topmost of the young twigs thereof, and carried it into a land of traffic; he set it in a city of merchants.
Von seinen jungen Zweigen brach er eine Spitze ab und brachte sie zu einem Krämerland und pflanzte sie in eine Kaufmannsstadt.
5 He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful soil; he placed it beside many waters, he set it as a slip.
Dann nahm er eines von des Landes Setzgewächsen und pflanzt' es in ein Ackerfeld. Er setzte es an reichlich Wasser, pflanzte es an einen Ort, wo Weiden wachsen.
6 And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose tendrils might turn toward him, and the roots thereof be under him; so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
Es wuchs heran und ward ein Rebstock von rankendem und niedrem Wuchs, daß seine Ranken, einwärts eingebogen, grad über seinen Wurzeln lagen. Doch wurde er zu einem Weinstock, der Zweige trieb und Laubwerk schob.
7 There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers; and, behold, this vine did bend its roots toward him, and shot forth its branches toward him, from the beds of its plantation, that he might water it.
Noch war ein andrer großer Adler da mit großen Flügeln, starker Schwinge. Zu diesem bog der Weinstock seine Wurzeln und streckte seine Ranken nach ihm aus, daß er ihn tränken möchte mehr, als es seine Pflanzungsstätte tat.
8 It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a stately vine.
Und doch war er in gutes Feld verpflanzt an viele Wasser, damit er Zweige triebe, Früchte brächte und so zu einem schmucken Weinstock würde.'
9 Say thou: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither, yea, wither in all its sprouting leaves? neither shall great power or much people be at hand when it is plucked up by the roots thereof.
Sprich: 'Also spricht der Herr, der Herr: Wird's einen guten Ausgang nehmen? Wird nicht der erste seiner Wurzeln ihn berauben und seine Frucht abreißen, daß alle Zweige seines Triebes dürre werden? Nicht braucht es eine große Kraft, nicht vieles Volk, um diesen seiner Wurzeln zu berauben.
10 Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? Shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? In the beds where it grew it shall wither.'
Da steht er zwar jetzt umgepflanzt. Wird's einen guten Ausgang nehmen? Wird er, falls ihn ein Ostwind trifft nicht ganz verdorren? Wird er auf seinem Pflanzort nicht verdorren?'" -
11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich:
12 'Say now to the rebellious house: Know ye not what these things mean? tell them: Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and brought them to him to Babylon;
"So sprich zum Haus der Widerspenstigkeit: 'Versteht ihr nicht, was dies bedeutet?' So sprich: 'Es kam der König Babels nach Jerusalem, ließ seinen König, seine Fürsten greifen und sie zu sich nach Babel bringen.
13 and he took of the seed royal, and made a covenant with him, and brought him under an oath, and the mighty of the land he took away;
Dann nahm er einen von dem königlichen Stamm und machte einen Bund mit ihm und nahm ihm einen Eidschwur ab. Die Mächtigsten des Landes nahm er mit,
14 that his might be a lowly kingdom, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.
um so das Reich zu schwächen, daß sich's nicht abermals erhöbe, vielmehr den Bund in Dienstbarkeit einhielte.
15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape?
Doch fiel er von ihm ab und sandte seine Boten nach Ägypten, daß es ihm Rosse und viel Kriegsvolk überlasse. Kann solches einen guten Ausgang nehmen? Kann der sich retten, der dies tut? Kann der entkommen, der ein Bündnis bricht?
16 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
So wahr ich lebe', ein Spruch des Herrn, des Herrn, 'am Ort des Königs, der ihn zum König eingesetzt, dem er den Eid der Treue nicht gehalten, dem er den Bund gebrochen, bei dem soll er zu Babel sterben!
17 Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company succour him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts, to cut off many souls;
Trotz großem Heer und starker Schar tut Pharao für ihn im Kriege nichts, wenn er auch Wälle schüttet, Türme baut, um viele Leben auszurotten.
18 seeing he hath despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.
Er hatte nicht des Eidschwurs acht; er wurde bundesbrüchig, obwohl er ihm die Hand gegeben. Er, der dies alles tat, wird nicht entkommen.'
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: As I live, surely Mine oath that he hath despised, and My covenant that he hath broken, I will even bring it upon his own head.
Darum spricht so der Herr, der Herr: 'So wahr ich lebe, den mir zugeschworenen Eid, den er mißachtet, und den bei mir geschlossenen Bund, den er gebrochen, den gebe ich ihm auf den Kopf zurück.
20 And I will spread My net upon him, and he shall be taken in My snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his treachery that he hath committed against Me.
Ich stelle gegen ihn mein Netz, daß er in meinem Garn sich fange. Dann bringe ich ihn hin nach Babel und halte dort an ihm Gericht, weil er an mir treulos gehandelt hat.
21 And all his mighty men in all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward every wind; and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
Und seine besten Truppen, all seine Kriegerscharen fallen durch das Schwert. Wer sonst noch übrigbleibt, der wird in alle Winde hin zerstreut, daß ihr erkennt: Ich selbst, der Herr, hab es gesagt.'
22 Thus saith the Lord GOD: Moreover I will take, even I, of the lofty top of the cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it upon a high mountain and eminent;
So spricht der Herr, der Herr: 'Dann nehme ich etwas vom Wipfel jener hohen Zeder und setz es ein und pflücke von den jungen Trieben eine zarte Spitze ab und pflanze sie auf einen hohen und erhabenen Berg.
23 in the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it; and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a stately cedar; and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing, in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
Auf Israels erhabnen Berg will ich sie pflanzen, auf daß sie Zweige treibe, Früchte trage und so zu einer schmucken Zeder werde, auf daß darunter Vögel aller Art und allerlei Geflügel im Schatten seiner Zweige wohnen.
24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish; I the LORD have spoken and have done it.'
Dann werden alle Bäume auf dem Feld erkennen, daß ich, der Herr, zu niedrigen Gesträuchen hohe Bäume und niedriges Gesträuch zu hohen Bäumen machen kann, daß ich den grünen Baum verdorren, den dürren Baum zum Grünen bringen kann. Ja, ich, der Herr, ich sage es und tue es.'"
