Exodus 8

1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses: 'Go in unto Pharaoh, and say unto him: Thus saith the LORD: Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはパロのところに行って言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられます、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。

2 And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs.

しかし、去らせることを拒むならば、見よ、わたしは、かえるをもって、あなたの領土を、ことごとく撃つであろう。

3 And the river shall swarm with frogs, which shall go up and come into thy house, and into thy bed-chamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneading-troughs.

ナイル川にかえるが群がり、のぼって、あなたの家、あなたの寝室にはいり、寝台にのぼり、あなたの家来と民の家にはいり、またあなたのかまどや、こね鉢にはいり、

4 And the frogs shall come up both upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.'

あなたと、あなたの民と、すべての家来のからだに、はい上がるであろう」と』」。

5 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Say unto Aaron: Stretch forth thy hand with thy rod over the rivers, over the canals, and over the pools, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.'

主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『つえを持って、手を川の上、流れの上、、池の上にさし伸べ、かえるをエジプトの地にのぼらせなさい』と」。

6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

アロンが手をエジプトの水の上にさし伸べたので、かえるはのぼってエジプトの地をおおった。

7 And the magicians did in like manner with their secret arts, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

魔術師らも秘術をもって同じように行い、かえるをエジプトの地にのぼらせた。

8 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said: 'Entreat the LORD, that He take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice unto the LORD.'

パロはモーセとアロンを召して言った、「かえるをわたしと、わたしの民から取り去るように主に願ってください。そのときわたしはこの民を去らせて、主に犠牲をささげさせるでしょう」。

9 And Moses said unto Pharaoh: 'Have thou this glory over me; against what time shall I entreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, that the frogs be destroyed from thee and thy houses, and remain in the river only?'

モーセはパロに言った、「あなたと、あなたの家来と、あなたの民のために、わたしがいつ願って、このかえるを、あなたとあなたの家から断って、ナイル川だけにとどまらせるべきか、きめてください」。

10 And he said: 'Against to-morrow.' And he said: 'Be it according to thy word; that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God.

パロは言った、「明日」。モーセは言った、「仰せのとおりになって、わたしたちの神、主に並ぶもののないことを、あなたが知られますように。

11 And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; they shall remain in the river only.'

そして、かえるはあなたと、あなたの家と、あなたの家来と、あなたの民を離れてナイル川にだけとどまるでしょう」。

12 And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh; and Moses cried unto the LORD concerning the frogs, which He had brought upon Pharaoh.

こうしてモーセとアロンはパロを離れて出た。モーセは主がパロにつかわされたかえるの事について、主に呼び求めたので、

13 And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the fields.

主はモーセのことばのようにされ、かえるは家から、庭から、また畑から死に絶えた。

14 And they gathered them together in heaps; and the land stank.

これをひと山ひと山に積んだので、地は臭くなった。

15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken.

ところがパロは息つくひまのできたのを見て、主が言われたように、その心をかたくなにして彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。

16 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Say unto Aaron: Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the earth, that it may become gnats throughout all the land of Egypt.'

主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『あなたのつえをさし伸べて地のちりを打ち、それをエジプトの全国にわたって、ぶよとならせなさい』と」。

17 And they did so; and Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and there were gnats upon man, and upon beast; all the dust of the earth became gnats throughout all the land of Egypt.

彼らはそのように行った。すなわちアロンはそのつえをとって手をさし伸べ、地のちりを打ったので、ぶよは人と家畜についた。すなわち、地のちりはみなエジプトの全国にわたって、ぶよとなった。

18 And the magicians did so with their secret arts to bring forth gnats, but they could not; and there were gnats upon man, and upon beast.

魔術師らも秘術をもって同じように行い、ぶよを出そうとしたが、彼らにはできなかった。ぶよが人と家畜についたので、

19 Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh: 'This is the finger of God'; and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken.

魔術師らはパロに言った、「これは神の指です」。しかし主の言われたように、パロの心はかたくなになって、彼らのいうことを聞かなかった。

20 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him: Thus saith the LORD: Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

主はモーセに言われた、「あなたは朝早く起きてパロの前に立ちなさい。ちょうど彼は水のところに出ているから彼に言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられる、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。

21 Else, if thou wilt not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses; and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.

あなたがわたしの民を去らせないならば、わたしは、あなたとあなたの家来と、あなたの民とあなたの家とに、あぶの群れをつかわすであろう。エジプトびとの家々は、あぶの群れで満ち、彼らの踏む地もまた、そうなるであろう。

22 And I will set apart in that day the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end that thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.

その日わたしは、わたしの民の住むゴセンの地を区別して、そこにあぶの群れを入れないであろう。国の中でわたしが主であることをあなたが知るためである。

23 And I will put a division between My people and thy people — by to-morrow shall this sign be.'

わたしはわたしの民とあなたの民の間に区別をおく。このしるしは、あす起るであろう」と』」。

24 And the LORD did so; and there came grievous swarms of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses; and in all the land of Egypt the land was ruined by reason of the swarms of flies.

主はそのようにされたので、おびただしいあぶが、パロの家と、その家来の家と、エジプトの全国にはいってきて、地はあぶの群れのために害をうけた。

25 And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said: 'Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land.'

そこで、パロはモーセとアロンを召して言った、「あなたがたは行ってこの国の内で、あなたがたの神に犠牲をささげなさい」。

26 And Moses said: 'It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God; lo, if we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, will they not stone us?

モーセは言った、「そうすることはできません。わたしたちはエジプトびとの忌むものを犠牲として、わたしたちの神、主にささげるからです。もし、エジプトびとの目の前で、彼らの忌むものを犠牲にささげるならば、彼らはわたしたちを石で打たないでしょうか。

27 We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as He shall command us.'

わたしたちは三日の道のりほど、荒野にはいって、わたしたちの神、主に犠牲をささげ、主がわたしたちに命じられるようにしなければなりません」。

28 And Pharaoh said: 'I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away; entreat for me.'

パロは言った、「わたしはあなたがたを去らせ、荒野で、あなたがたの神、主に犠牲をささげさせよう。ただあまり遠くへ行ってはならない。わたしのために祈願しなさい」。

29 And Moses said: 'Behold, I go out from thee, and I will entreat the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow; only let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.'

モーセは言った、「わたしはあなたのもとから出て行って主に祈願しましょう。あすあぶの群れがパロと、その家来と、その民から離れるでしょう。ただパロはまた欺いて、民が主に犠牲をささげに行くのをとめないようにしてください」。

30 And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and entreated the LORD.

こうしてモーセはパロのもとを出て、主に祈願したので、

31 And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and He removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; there remained not one.

主はモーセの言葉のようにされた。すなわち、あぶの群れをパロと、その家来と、その民から取り去られたので、一つも残らなかった。

32 And Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and he did not let the people go.

しかしパロはこんどもまた、その心をかたくなにして民を去らせなかった。
