2 Samuel 19
1 And it was told Joab: 'Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.'
೧ಅರಸನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗಾಗಿ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ ಗೋಳಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಾನೆಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿತು.
2 And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people; for the people heard say that day: 'The king grieveth for his son.'
೨ಅರಸನು ಮಗನಿಗೊಸ್ಕರ ಪ್ರಲಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಾದುದರಿಂದ, ಅವರ ಜಯಘೋಷವು ಗೋಳಾಟವಾಯಿತು.
3 And the people got them by stealth that day into the city, as people that are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
೩ಜನರು ಆ ದಿನ ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋತು ಓಡಿ ಬಂದವರೋ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ನಾಚಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಕಳ್ಳತನದಿಂದ ಊರನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದರು.
4 And the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice: 'O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!'
೪ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು, “ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೇ, ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ!” ಎಂದು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಗೋಳಾಡಿದನು.
5 And Joab came into the house to the king, and said: 'Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, who this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;
೫ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ, ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರನ್ನೂ, ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯರನ್ನೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದಂಥ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಅಪಮಾನಪಡಿಸಿದಿ.
6 in that thou lovest them that hate thee, and hatest them that love thee. For thou hast declared this day, that princes and servants are nought unto thee; for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.
೬ನೀನು ಶತ್ರುಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವವನೂ, ಮಿತ್ರರನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವವನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೀ. ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನೂ ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುವವನಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಈಗ ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಈ ದಿನ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸತ್ತು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೊಬ್ಬನೆ ಉಳಿದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಬೇಕಷ್ಟೆ.
7 Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak to the heart of thy servants; for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry a man with thee this night; and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that hath befallen thee from thy youth until now.'
೭ಈಗ ಎದ್ದು ಹೋಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ದಯೆಯಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಸು. ಯೆಹೋವನಾಣೆ, ನೀನು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡದಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲವಾಗುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗುವರು. ಯೌವನ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಈ ವರೆಗೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಬಂದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೇಡುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನದಾಗಿರುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
8 Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying: 'Behold, the king doth sit in the gate'; and all the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.
೮ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಎದ್ದು ಬಂದು ಊರಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡನು. ಇಗೋ, ಅರಸನು ಬಂದು ಊರಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬ ಸುದ್ದಿಯು ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿದಾಗ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ನೆರೆದು ಬಂದರು.
9 And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying: 'The king delivered us out of the hand of our enemies, and he saved us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land from Absalom.
೯ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಕುಲಗಳ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರು ತಮ್ಮತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಜಗಳವಾಡಿ “ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕೈಗೂ, ಬೇರೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವೈರಿಗಳ ಕೈಗೂ ಸಿಕ್ಕದಂತೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕಾಪಾಡಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಬೇಕಾಯಿತು.
10 And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now, therefore, why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?'
೧೦ನಾವು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಿದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತನು. ಹೀಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಬಾರದೇಕೆ? ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವುದೇಕೆ?” ಎಂದು ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
11 And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying: 'Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying: Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? — For the speech of all Israel was come to the king, to bring him to his house. —
೧೧ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿತು. ಅವನು ಯಾಜಕರಾದ ಚಾದೋಕ್ ಮತ್ತು ಎಬ್ಯಾತಾರರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಲದ ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ, ‘ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಅರಮನೆಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ತಡಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದೇಕೆ?
12 Ye are my brethren, ye are my bone and my flesh; wherefore then should ye be the last to bring back the king?
೧೨ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ತಸಂಬಂಧಿಗಳಾದ ಸಹೋದರರಾಗಿರುತ್ತೀರಿ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ತಡಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿರಿ.
13 And say ye to Amasa: Art thou not my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.'
೧೩ಅಮಾಸನಿಗೆ, ‘ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ರಕ್ತಸಂಬಂಧಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೀ. ನಾನು ಯೋವಾಬನ ಬದಲಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೇ ನಿತ್ಯ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡದಿದ್ದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿ’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿಯೂ ತಿಳಿಸಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
14 And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent unto the king: 'Return thou, and all thy servants.'
೧೪ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಏಕಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಅರಸನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
15 So the king returned, and came to the Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to bring the king over the Jordan.
೧೫ಅರಸನು ಸ್ವದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹೊರಟು ಯೊರ್ದನಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಲದವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
16 And Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, who was of Bahurim, made haste and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.
೧೬ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ ಕುಲದ ಗೇರನ ಮಗನೂ ಬಹುರೀಮಿನವನೂ ಆದ ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಯು ಅವಸರದಿಂದ ಬಂದು ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಲದವರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
17 And there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him. And they rushed into the Jordan before the king.
೧೭ಅವನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾವಿರ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿದ್ದರು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಸೌಲನ ಮನೆಯ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಚೀಬನು ತನ್ನ ಹದಿನೈದು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ, ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸೇವಕರನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅರಸನ ಮುಂದೆಯೆ ಪೂರ್ಣಾಸಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ಹೊಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿಳಿದು
18 And the ferryboat passed to and fro to bring over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, when he would go over the Jordan.
೧೮ಅರಸನ ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರವೂ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ದಡದಿಂದ ದಡಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾ, ಬರುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅರಸನು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಬಂದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಗೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಯು ಸಾಷ್ಟಾಂಗ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ,
19 And he said unto the king: 'Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did iniquitously the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.
೧೯“ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಪರಾಧಿಯೆಂದೆಣಿಸದಿರಲಿ. ನನ್ನ ಅರಸನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಮೂರ್ಖತನದಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಲಕ್ಷಿಸದಿರಲಿ.
20 For thy servant doth know that I have sinned; therefore, behold, I am come this day the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.'
೨೦ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದೆನೆಂದು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದಲೆ ನಾನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯೋಸೇಫ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲಿಗನಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said: 'Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD'S anointed?'
೨೧ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬೀಷೈಯು, “ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಗೆ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆಯಾಗಬೇಕಲ್ಲವೇ” ಎಂದನು.
22 And David said: 'What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?'
೨೨ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾವೀದನು, “ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ, ನನಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗೊಡವೆಯೇ ಬೇಡ, ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಾಗಬೇಕು? ಈ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆಯಾಗುವುದು ಸರಿಯೋ? ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನೆಂಬುದು ಈಹೊತ್ತು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಗೊತ್ತಾಯಿತು” ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದನು.
23 And the king said unto Shimei: 'Thou shalt not die.' And the king swore unto him.
೨೩ಅನಂತರ ಅರಸನು ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಗೆ, “ನಿನಗೆ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆ ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
24 And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.
೨೪ತರುವಾಯ ಸೌಲನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನಾದ ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನು ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದನು. ಅರಸನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟಂದಿನಿಂದ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಇವನು ತನ್ನ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಮೀಸೆಯನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಒಗೆಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
25 And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him: 'Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?'
೨೫ಇವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಅರಸನ ದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅರಸನು, “ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನೇ, ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯಾಕೆ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
26 And he answered: 'My lord, O king, my servant deceived me; for thy servant said: I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go with the king; because thy servant is lame.
೨೬ಅವನು, “ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ಅರಸನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ವಂಚಿಸಿದನು. ಕುಂಟನಾದ ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ‘ಕತ್ತೆಗೆ ತಡಿಹಾಕು. ನಾನು ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಅರಸನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದೆನು.
27 And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God; do therefore what is good in thine eyes.
೨೭ಅವನು ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಡಿಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅರಸನು ದೇವದೂತನ ಹಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ತನಗೆ ಸರಿಕಂಡದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿ.
28 For all my father's house were deserving of death at the hand of my lord the king; yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet? or why should I cry any more unto the king?'
೨೮ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೂ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಭೋಜನಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಪಂಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳ್ಳಿರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಮೊರೆಯಿಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನೇನು ಯೋಗ್ಯನೋ?” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
29 And the king said unto him: 'Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I say: Thou and Ziba divide the land.'
೨೯ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಾತು ಯಾಕೆ? ನೀನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಚೀಬನೂ ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ಭಾಗಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂಬುದೇ ನನ್ನ ತೀರ್ಪು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
30 And Mephibosheth said unto the king: 'Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come in peace unto his own house.'
೩೦ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನು, “ಚೀಬನು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ತಾನೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡರೂ, ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ. ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತನಾಗಿ ಬಂದದ್ದೇ ಸಾಕು” ಎಂದನು.
31 And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim; and he passed on to Jordan with the king, to bring him on the way over the Jordan.
೩೧ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯನಾದ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈ ಎಂಬುವನು ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಸಾಗಕಳುಹಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ರೋಗೆಲೀಮಿನಿಂದ ಯೊರ್ದನಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದನು.
32 Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old; and he had provided the king with sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.
೩೨ಇವನು ಎಂಬತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದ ಮುದುಕನು. ಇವನು ಬಹು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತನಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನು ಮಹನಯಿಮಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅವನ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಇವನೇ ಒದಗಿಸಿಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
33 And the king said unto Barzillai: 'Come thou over with me, and I will sustain thee with me in Jerusalem.'
೩೩ಅರಸನು ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನದಿಯ ಆಚೆಗೆ ಬಾ, ನಾನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರವೇ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದನು.
34 And Barzillai said unto the king: 'How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?
೩೪ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯು, “ಇಷ್ಟು ವಯಸ್ಸು ಕಳೆದವನಾದ ನಾನು ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬರುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ
35 I am this day fourscore years old; can I discern between good and bad? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
೩೫ಈಗ ನಾನು ಎಂಬತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವನು. ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು, ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದು ಇವುಗಳ ಭೇದವು ನನಗಿನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯುವುದೋ? ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನನಗೆ ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳ ರುಚಿಯು ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುವುದೋ? ಗಾಯನ ಮಾಡುವ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಪುರುಷರ ಸ್ವರಗಳು ನನಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತವೋ? ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಹೊರೆಯಾಗಿರಬೇಕು?
36 Thy servant would but just go over the Jordan with the king; and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?
೩೬ಹೊಳೆದಾಟಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದೂರ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅರಸನಾದ ನೀನು ನನಗೇಕೆ ಇಂಥ ಉಪಕಾರ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು?
37 Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back, that I may die in mine own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.'
೩೭ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನನಗೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಲಿ. ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಿರುವ ಸ್ವಂತ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಸಾಯುವೆನು. ಇಗೋ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಕಿಮ್ಹಾಮನಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನು ಇವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟವಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಇವನಿಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದನು.
38 And the king answered: 'Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee; and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.'
೩೮ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅರಸನು, “ಕಿಮ್ಹಾಮನು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರಲಿ. ಅವನಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟದಂತೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸುವೆನು. ಇನ್ನು ಏನೇನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆನ್ನುತ್ತಿಯೋ ಅದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
39 And all the people went over the Jordan, and the king went over; and the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.
೩೯ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೂ ನದಿದಾಟಿದರು. ಅರಸನು ನದಿ ದಾಟಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯನ್ನು ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದನು. ಅನಂತರ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯು ತನ್ನ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.
40 So the king went over to Gilgal, and Chimham went over with him; and all the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.
೪೦ಅರಸನು ಕಿಮ್ಹಾಮನೊಡನೆ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿಗೆ ತೆರಳಿದನು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಧ ಜನರೂ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದರು.
41 And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king: 'Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and brought the king, and his household, over the Jordan, and all David's men with him?'
೪೧ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅರಸನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು, “ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸದೆ ತಾವೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅರಸನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವನೊಡನೆ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿ ದಾಟಿಸಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದದ್ದೇಕೆ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
42 And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel: 'Because the king is near of kin to us; wherefore then are ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king's cost? or hath any gift been given us?'
೪೨ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ, “ಅರಸನು ನಮಗೆ ಸಮೀಪದ ಬಂಧು. ನೀವು ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೋಪಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇಕೆ? ನಾವೇನು ಅರಸನ ಹಣದಿಂದ ಊಟಮಾಡಿದೆವೋ? ಅವನು ನಮಗೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಕೊಟ್ಟನೋ?” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
43 And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said: 'We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye; why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king?' And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
೪೩ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ಅರಸನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಪಾಲು ಉಂಟಲ್ಲಾ, ದಾವೀದನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲೂ ನಮಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹಕ್ಕು ಉಂಟು. ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಡೆಗಾಣಿಸಿದ್ದೇಕೆ? ನಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದವರು ನಾವಲ್ಲವೋ?” ಎಂದರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಕಠಿಣವಾಗಿದ್ದವು.
