2 Chronicles 7

1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

Lorsque Salomon eut achevé de prier, le feu descendit du ciel et consuma l'holocauste et les victimes, et la gloire de Yahweh remplit la maison.

2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD'S house.

Les prêtres ne pouvaient entrer dans la maison de Yahweh, car la gloire de Yahweh remplissait sa maison.

3 And all the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD was upon the house; and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and prostrated themselves, and gave thanks unto the LORD; 'for He is good, for His mercy endureth for ever.'

Tous les enfants d'Israël virent descendre le feu et la gloire de Yahweh sur la maison et, tombant le visage contre terre sur le pavé, ils se prosternèrent et louèrent Yahweh, en disant: " Car il est bon, car sa miséricorde dure à jamais! "

4 And the king and all the people offered sacrifice before the LORD.

Le roi et tout le peuple offrirent des sacrifices devant Yahweh.

5 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

Le roi Salomon immola, pour le sacrifice, vingt deux mille bœufs et cent vingt mille brebis. C'est ainsi que le roi et tout le peuple firent la dédicace de la maison de Dieu.

6 And the priests stood, according to their offices; the Levites also with instruments of music of the LORD, which David the king had made, to give thanks unto the LORD, for His mercy endureth for ever, with the praises of David by their hand; and the priests sounded trumpets over against them; and all Israel stood.

Les prêtres se tenaient à leurs postes, et les lévites aussi avec les instruments de musique de Yahweh que le roi David avait faits pour louer Yahweh, " car sa miséricorde dure à jamais! " lorsqu'il célébra Yahweh par leur ministère. Les prêtres sonnaient des trompettes vis-à-vis d'eux, et tout Israël était debout.

7 Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings; because the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt-offering, and the meal-offering, and the fat.

Salomon consacra le milieu du parvis qui est devant la maison de Yahweh; car il offrit là les holocaustes et les graisses des sacrifices pacifiques, parce que l'autel d'airain qu'il avait fait ne pouvait contenir l'holocauste, l'oblation et les graisses.

8 So Solomon held the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entrance of Hamath unto the Brook of Egypt.

Salomon célébra la fête en ce temps-là pendant sept jours, et tout Israël avec lui, très grande multitude venue depuis l'entrée d'Emath jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte.

9 And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly; for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

Le huitième jour, ils tinrent l'assemblée de clôture; car ils avaient fait la dédicace de l'autel pendant sept jours, et la fête pendant sept jours.

10 And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away unto their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that the LORD had shown unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel His people.

Et le vingt troisième jour du septième mois, Salomon renvoya dans ses tentes le peuple joyeux et le cœur content pour le bien que Yahweh avait fait à David, à Salomon et à Israël, son peuple.

11 Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king's house; and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

Salomon acheva la maison de Yahweh et la maison du roi, et il mena à bien tout ce qui lui était venu à l'esprit de faire dans la maison de Yahweh et dans la maison du roi.

12 And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him: 'I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to Myself for a house of sacrifice.

Et Yahweh lui apparut pendant la nuit et lui dit: " J'ai exaucé ta prière et j'ai choisi ce lieu comme la maison où l'on m'offrira des sacrifices.

13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people;

Quand je fermerai le ciel et qu'il n'y aura pas de pluie, quand j'ordonnerai aux sauterelles de dévorer le pays, ou quand j'enverrai la peste dans mon peuple,

14 if My people, upon whom My name is called, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

si mon peuple, sur lequel est invoqué mon nom, s'humilie, prie et cherche ma face, et s'il se détourne de ses mauvaises voies, je l'écouterai du ciel, je lui pardonnerai son péché et je guérirai son pays.

15 Now Mine eyes shall be open, and Mine ears attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place.

Maintenant, mes yeux seront ouverts et mes oreilles attentives à la prière faite en ce lieu.

16 For now have I chosen and hallowed this house, that My name may be there for ever; and Mine eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.

Maintenant je choisis et je sanctifie cette maison, pour que mon nom y réside à jamais, et là seront à jamais mes yeux et mon cœur.

17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before Me as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep My statutes and Mine ordinances;

Et toi, si tu marches devant moi comme a marché David, ton père, mettant en pratique tout ce que je t'ai prescrit, et si tu observes mes lois et mes ordonnances,

18 then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I covenanted with David thy father, saying: There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

j'affermirai le trône de ta royauté, selon l'alliance que j'ai conclue avec David, ton père, en disant: il ne te manquera jamais un descendant qui règne en Israël.

19 But if ye turn away, and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

Mais si vous vous détournez, si vous abandonnez mes lois et mes commandements que j'ai mis devant vous, et si vous allez servir d'autres dieux et vous prosterner devant eux,

20 then will I pluck them up by the roots out of My land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for My name, will I cast out of My sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

je les arracherai de mon pays que je leur ai donné; cette maison que j'ai consacrée à mon nom, je la rejetterai de devant ma face, et j'en ferai un sujet de sarcasme et de raillerie parmi tous les peuples.

21 And this house, which is so high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall say: Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?

Cette maison qui était si haut placée sera un sujet de stupeur pour quiconque passera près d'elle, et il dira: Pourquoi Yahweh a-t-il ainsi traité ce pays et cette maison?

22 And they shall answer: Because they forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them; therefore hath He brought all this evil upon them.'

Et l'on répondra: Parce qu'ils ont abandonné Yahweh, le Dieu de leurs pères, qui les a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, et que, s'attachant à d'autres dieux, ils se sont prosternés devant eux et les ont servis; voilà pourquoi il a fait venir sur eux tous ces maux. "
