1 Samuel 7

1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.

Entonces los hombres de Quiriat-jearim fueron y subieron el Arca de Yavé a la región montañosa. La pusieron en casa de Abinadab y consagraron a Eleazar, su hijo, para que guardara el Arca de Yavé.

2 And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel yearned after the LORD.

Desde el día cuando el Arca quedó en Quiriat-jearim pasaron muchos días, 20 años, y toda la casa de Israel lamentaba tras Yavé.

3 And Samuel spoke unto all the house of Israel, saying: 'If ye do return unto the LORD with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts unto the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.'

Samuel habló a toda la casa de Israel: Si vuelven a Yavé con todo su corazón, quiten de en medio de ustedes los ʼelohim extraños y a Astarot, preparen su corazón para Yavé y sirvan solo a Él, Él los librará de la mano de los filisteos.

4 Then the children of Israel did put away the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only.

Los hijos de Israel quitaron los baales y a Astarot, y sirvieron solo a Yavé.

5 And Samuel said: 'Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you unto the LORD.'

Luego dijo Samuel: Reúnan a todo Israel en Mizpa, y yo oraré a Yavé por ustedes.

6 And they gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there: 'We have sinned against the LORD.' And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

Se reunieron en Mizpa. Sacaron agua y la derramaron delante de Yavé. Ayunaron aquel día allí y dijeron: ¡Pecamos contra Yavé! Y Samuel juzgó a los hijos de Israel en Mizpa.

7 And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.

Cuando los filisteos oyeron que los hijos de Israel se reunieron en Mizpa, los jefes de los filisteos subieron contra Israel. Al oír esto, los hijos de Israel tuvieron temor a los filisteos.

8 And the children of Israel said to Samuel: 'Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that He save us out of the hand of the Philistines.'

Los hijos de Israel dijeron a Samuel: No ceses de clamar a Yavé nuestro ʼElohim por nosotros para que nos salve de mano de los filisteos.

9 And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt-offering unto the LORD; and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD answered him.

Samuel tomó un corderito lechal y lo ofreció entero en holocausto a Yavé. Samuel clamó a Yavé por Israel, y Yavé lo escuchó.

10 And as Samuel was offering up the burnt-offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel; but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten down before Israel.

Aconteció que mientras Samuel ofrecía el holocausto, los filisteos llegaron para combatir a Israel. Pero Yavé tronó aquel día con grande estruendo sobre los filisteos y los desbarató. Fueron derrotados delante de Israel.

11 And the men of Israel went out of Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Beth-car.

Los hombres de Israel salieron de Mizpa, persiguieron a los filisteos y los mataron hasta más abajo de Bet-car.

12 Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called the name of it Eben-ezer, saying: 'Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.'

Luego Samuel tomó una piedra y la asentó entre Mizpa y Sen. La llamó Ebenezer y dijo: Hasta aquí nos ayudó Yavé.

13 So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more within the border of Israel; and the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

Así los filisteos fueron sometidos, y no volvieron a entrar dentro del límite de Israel. La mano de Yavé estuvo contra los filisteos todos los días de Samuel.

14 And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even unto Gath; and the border thereof did Israel deliver out of the hand of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

Las ciudades que los filisteos les tomaron fueron restituidas a los hijos de Israel, desde Ecrón hasta Gat. Israel libró su territorio de mano de los filisteos. También hubo paz entre Israel y los amorreos.

15 And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

Samuel juzgó a Israel todos los días de su vida.

16 And he went from year to year in circuit to Beth-el, and Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places.

Él acostumbraba ir cada año en un camino por Bet-ʼEl, Gilgal y Mizpa, y juzgaba a Israel en todos esos lugares.

17 And his return was to Ramah, for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and he built there an altar unto the LORD.

Después regresaba a Ramá, pues allí estaba su casa. Allí también juzgaba a Israel, y allí edificó un altar a Yavé.
