1 Samuel 21

1 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest; and Ahimelech came to meet David trembling, and said unto him: 'Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?'

൧ദാവീദ് നോബ് എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് പുരോഹിതനായ അഹീമേലെക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു; അഹീമേലെക്ക് ദാവീദിനെ വിറയലോടെ എതിരേറ്റ് അവനോട്: “ആരും കൂടെ ഇല്ലാതെ നീ തനിച്ചുവന്നത് എന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

2 And David said unto Ahimelech the priest: 'The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me: Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee; and the young men have I appointed to such and such a place.

൨ദാവീദ് പുരോഹിതനായ അഹീമേലെക്കിനോട്: “രാജാവ് എന്നെ ഒരു കാര്യം ഏല്പിച്ചു. ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അയച്ചതും നിന്നോട് കല്പിച്ചതുമായ കാര്യം ഒന്നും ആരും അറിയരുത് എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാർ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സ്ഥലത്ത് വരണമെന്ന് ഞാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

3 Now therefore what is under thy hand? five loaves of bread? give them in my hand, or whatsoever there is present.'

൩അതുകൊണ്ട് നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ എന്തെങ്കിലും ഉണ്ടോ? ഒരു അഞ്ചപ്പം അല്ലെങ്കിൽ തല്ക്കാലം കയ്യിൽ ഉള്ളതെന്തെങ്കിലും എനിക്ക് തരണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 And the priest answered David, and said: 'There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.'

൪അതിന് പുരോഹിതൻ ദാവീദിനോട്: “വിശുദ്ധമായ അപ്പം അല്ലാതെ സാധാരണ അപ്പം എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇല്ല; ബാല്യക്കാർ സ്ത്രീസംസർഗ്ഗം ഇല്ലാത്തവരാണ് എങ്കിൽ തരാമെന്ന്” ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him: 'Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days; when I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was but a common journey; how much more then to-day, when there shall be holy bread in their vessels?'

൫ദാവീദ് പുരോഹിതനോട്: മൂന്ന് ദിവസമായി സ്ത്രീകൾ ഞങ്ങളോട് അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇത് ഒരു സാധാരണ യാത്ര എങ്കിലും ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ ബാല്യക്കാരുടെ യാത്രക്കോപ്പുകൾ ശുദ്ധമായിരുന്നു; ഇന്നോ അവരുടെ കോപ്പുകൾ എത്ര അധികം ശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6 So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away. —

൬അങ്ങനെ പുരോഹിതൻ അവന് വിശുദ്ധമായ അപ്പം കൊടുത്തു; അപ്പം മാറ്റുന്ന ദിവസം ചൂടുള്ള അപ്പം വെക്കേണ്ടതിന് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന് നീക്കിയ കാഴ്ചയപ്പം അല്ലാതെ അവിടെ വേറെ അപ്പം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul. —

൭എന്നാൽ അന്ന് ശൌലിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരിൽ ദോവേഗ് എന്ന് പേരുള്ള ഒരു ഏദോമ്യനെ അവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ അടച്ചിട്ടിരുന്നു; അവൻ ശൌലിന്റെ ഇടയന്മാർക്ക് പ്രമാണി ആയിരുന്നു.

8 And David said unto Ahimelech: 'And is there peradventure here under thy hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.'

൮ദാവീദ് അഹീമേലെക്കിനോട്: “ഇവിടെ നിന്റെ കൈവശം കുന്തമോ വാളോ ഉണ്ടോ? രാജാവിന്റെ കാര്യം വളരെ വേഗം നിർവ്വഹിക്കാനുള്ളതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ എന്റെ വാളും ആയുധങ്ങളും കൊണ്ടുപോന്നില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9 And the priest said: 'The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the vale of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod; if thou wilt take that, take it; for there is no other save that here.' And David said: 'There is none like that; give it me.'

൯അപ്പോൾ പുരോഹിതൻ: “ഏലാ താഴ്വരയിൽവെച്ച് നീ കൊന്ന ഫെലിസ്ത്യനായ ഗൊല്യാത്തിന്റെ വാൾ ഏഫോദിന്റെ പുറകിൽ ഒരു ശീലയിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അത് വേണമെങ്കിൽ എടുത്തുകൊള്ളുക; അതല്ലാതെ വേറെ ഒന്നുമില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “അതിന് തുല്യം മറ്റൊന്നുമില്ല; അത് എനിക്ക് തരണം” എന്നു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞു.

10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.

൧൦പിന്നെ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുത്ത് നിന്ന് ഓടിവന്ന ദാവീദ് അന്നുതന്നെ ഗത്ത്‌ രാജാവായ ആഖീശിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഓടിച്ചെന്നു.

11 And the servants of Achish said unto him: 'Is not this David the king of the land? Did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying: Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?'

൧൧എന്നാൽ ആഖീശിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അവനോട്: “ഇവൻ ദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവായ ദാവീദ് അല്ലയോ? ശൌല്‍ ആയിരത്തെ കൊന്നു ദാവീദോ പതിനായിരത്തെ എന്ന് അവർ നൃത്തങ്ങളിൽ ഗാനപ്രതിഗാനം ചെയ്തത് ഇവനെക്കുറിച്ചല്ലയോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.

൧൨ദാവീദ് ഈ വാക്കുകളെ മനസ്സിലാക്കിയപ്പോൾ ഗത്ത് രാജാവായ ആഖീശിനെ ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

13 And he changed his demeanour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.

൧൩അവരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ തന്റെ ഭാവം മാറ്റി, ബുദ്ധിഭ്രമം നടിച്ച്, വാതിലിന്റെ കതകുകളിൽ വരച്ച്, താടിയിൽ തുപ്പൽ ഒലിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

14 Then said Achish unto his servants: 'Lo, when ye see a man that is mad, wherefore do ye bring him to me?

൧൪ആഖീശ് തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോട്: “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ഭ്രാന്തൻ ആണെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നില്ലയോ? അവനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നത് എന്തിന്?

15 Do I lack madmen, that ye have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?'

൧൫എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഭ്രാന്തുകളിക്കുവാൻ ഇവനെ കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന് എനിക്ക് ഇവിടെ ഭ്രാന്തന്മാർ കുറവാണോ? എന്റെ അരമനയിൽ ആണോ ഇവൻ വരേണ്ടത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
