< Luke 20 >

1 AND it came to pass, on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple, and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and scribes with the elders came upon him,
Nito naah, anih loe tempul thungah kaminawk to patuk, tamthanglok hoih taphong naah, kalen koek qaima, ca tarik kaminawk loe kacoehtanawk hoi nawnto anih khaeah angzoh o,
2 and spake to him, saying, Tell us by what authority thou doest these things or who is he that giveth thee this authority?
Anih khaeah naa ih sakthaihaih akaa hoiah maw hae hmuennawk hae na sak, to tih ai boeh loe hae sakthaihaih akaa hae mi mah maw ang paek? Na thui ah, tiah a naa o.
3 Then he answering said to them, I also will ask you one question; and resolve me:
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Lok maeto kang dueng o toeng han; na pathim oh:
4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?
Johan ih tuinuemhaih loe van bang hoi ih maw, to tih ai boeh loe kaminawk khae hoi ih? tiah a naa.
5 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we reply, From heaven; he will say, Wherefore then did ye not believe him?
To naah angmacae hoi angmacae to lok angdueng o, Van bang hoi ih, tiah a thuih o nahaeloe, tikhoe anih to na tang o ai loe? tiah na naa tih;
6 But if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.
toe kaminawk khae hoi ih ni, tiah a thuih o nahaeloe, kaminawk boih mah Johan loe tahmaa maeto ah poek o pongah, thlung hoi na va o tih, tiah a thuih o.
7 And they answered, We know not from whence.
To pongah nihcae mah, naa bang hoi ih maw, tito ka panoek o ai, tiah a naa o.
8 And Jesus said to them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Kai doeh mi ih akaa hoiah maw hae hmuennawk hae ka sak, tito kang thui o toeng mak ai, tiah a naa.
9 Then he began to speak to the people this parable: A certain man planted a vineyard, and delivered it to husbandmen, and went abroad for a long while.
To pacoengah anih mah kaminawk khaeah hae patahhaih lok hae thuih pae; Kami maeto loe misur takha maeto tawnh, takha to toksah kami khaeah tlaisak pacoengah, prae kangthla ah kholong a caeh.
10 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that they might give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat, and sent him away empty.
Misurthaih pakhrik tue phak naah loe, misurthaih pakhrik hanah takha toep kaminawk khaeah a tamna maeto patoeh: toe takha thung toksah kaminawk mah anih to boh o moe, bangkrai ah patoeh o ving.
11 And he again sent another servant: and him also they beat, and treating him with indignity, sent him away empty.
To pongah anih mah kalah tamna to patoeh let: anih doeh boh o moe, pacaekthlaek o, azat thok ah bangkrai ah amlaem o sak.
12 And he sent yet a third: and him they also wounded, and cast out.
Anih mah thumto haih tamna to patoeh let: anih to doeh nganbawh kana paek o moe, tasa bangah vah o ving.
13 Then said the master of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: probably when they see him, they will shew him respect.
To naah takha tawnkung loe, Kawbangmaw ka sak han? Palung ih ka capa to ka patoeh halat han boeh: nihcae mah anih to hnuk o naah saiqat o khoe doeh om tih, tiah a poek.
14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be our own.
Toe takha thungah toksah kaminawk mah qawktoep kami ah kaom anih to hnuk o naah, angzo oh, anih to hum si loe, qawk to aimacae hanah la o si, tiah maeto hoi maeto a thuih o.
15 So casting him out of the vineyard, they slew him. What then will the master of the vineyard do with these men?
To pongah anih to takha tasa bangah vah o moe, anih to a hum o. To tih nahaeloe takha tawnkung mah nihcae to kawbangmaw sah tih? tiah a naa.
16 He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said God forbid.
Nihcae mah, Takha tawnkung to angzo tih, toksah kaminawk to hum ueloe, takha to kalah kaminawk khaeah paek tih, tiah a naa o. Kaminawk mah lok to thaih o naah, to tiah om hmah nasoe, tiah thuih o.
17 Then he looked on them, and said, What is this then which is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
Anih mah nihcae to khet moe, Imsah kaminawk mah pahnawt o ih thlung loe, im takii ih kacak koek thlung ah oh boeh, tiah tarik ih lok loe tih thuih koehaih ih maw?
18 Every one who falleth upon this stone shall be broken to pieces; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
Mi kawbaktih doeh to thlung nuiah amtimh kami loe angkhaek tih; thlung mah taeh ih kaminawk doeh adip pueng tih, tiah a naa.
19 And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him at that time; and were afraid of the people: for they knew that he had spoken this parable against them.
Hae patahhaih lok loe nihcae thuih koehhaih ih ni, tito nihcae mah panoek o pongah, kalen koek qaima hoi ca tarik kaminawk loe anih naeh thaihaih loklam to pakrong o, toe to ah kaom kaminawk to zit o.
20 And watching him, they sent men they had suborned, who pretended that they were righteous persons, in order to lay hold of some word of his, that they might deliver him to the power and authority of the governor.
Anih mah thuih pazae ih lok to naeh moe, anih to prae ukkung khaeah paek hanah, anih to patoem o pongah, kami kahoih baktiah angsah tamquta hoi minawk khen kaminawk to anih khaeah patoeh o.
21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou speakest and teachest rightly, and respectest no man’s person, but teachest the way of God in truth:
Anih patoem kaminawk mah anih khaeah, Patukkung, nang loe kamsoem lok ni na thuih, kamsoem hmuen to na patuk, kami mikhmai doeh na khen ai, Sithaw ih loklam ni loktangta ah na patuk, tito ka panoek o:
22 Is it lawful for us to pay tribute to Caesar, or not?
Caesar khaeah tamut paek hae amsoem maw, amsoem ai? tiah a dueng o.
23 Then he, aware of their crafty design, said unto them, Why tempt ye me?
Toe nihcae mah alinghaih to anih mah panoek pongah nihcae khaeah, Tikhoe nang tanoek o loe?
24 Shew me a denarius. Whose image and inscription hath it? And they answering said, Caesar’s.
Phoisa maeto na patuek o noek ah. Mi ih krang hoi ahmin maw tarik o? tiah a naa. Nihcae mah, Caesar ih, tiah pathim pae o.
25 Then said he to them, Pay therefore to Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and to God the things which are God’s.
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Caesar ih hmuennawk to Caesar khaeah paek oh loe, Sithaw ih hmuennawk to Sithaw khaeah paek oh, tiah a naa.
26 And they were unable to lay hold of a single expression of his before the people: and marvelling at his answer, they were silenced.
Anih mah kaminawk hma ah thuih pazae ih lok to nihcae mah naeh o thai ai: nihcae mah dueng ih lok to anih mah pathim pae thaih pongah, dawnrai o moe, anghngai o duem.
27 Then certain of the Sadducees, who contend that there is no resurrection, asked him,
Angthawk lethaih tang ai thoemto Sadusinawk anih khaeah angzoh o moe, anih khaeah,
28 saying, Master, Moses wrote for us, If a man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die childless, that his brother should take the wife, and raise up seed for his brother.
Patukkung, Mosi mah kaicae khaeah, Kami maeto loe zu lak, toe caa sah ai ah dueh ving nahaeloe, amnawk mah anih ih zu to la ueloe, amya hanah caa sah pae tih, tiah tarik ih oh.
29 Now there were seven brothers: and the first taking a wife, died childless.
Nawkamya sarihto kaom kami oh o: kacoeh koek loe zu lak, toe caa sah ai ah duek ving.
30 And the second taking the wife, he also died childless.
Hnetto haih amnawk mah nongpata to zu ah lak, toe caa sah ai ah duek taak ving.
31 Then the third took her; and also all the seven in like manner: and left no children, and died.
Thumto haih amnawk mah nongpata to lak; to tiah nawkamya sarihto mah zu o haih, toe caa sah ai ah duek o taak boih.
32 And last of all died also the woman.
Hnukkhuem ah loe to nongpata doeh duek toeng.
33 In the resurrection therefore whose wife of them shall she be? for the seven had her to wife.
To tih nahaeloe angthawk lethaih niah to nongpata loe mi ih zu ah maw om tih? Nawkamya sarihto mah to nongpata to zu ah lak o boih, tiah a dueng o.
34 And Jesus in reply said to them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: (aiōn g165)
Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Vaihi dung ih kaminawk loe zu lak o moe, imthong to krak o: (aiōn g165)
35 but they who are counted worthy to attain to that world, and the resurrection of the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: (aiōn g165)
toe to adung ah kathum han koiah poek ih kaminawk duekhaih thung hoiah angthawk o let naah loe, zu lakhaih hoi imthong krakhaih to om mak ai boeh: (aiōn g165)
36 neither can they die any more: for they are like the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
nihcae loe dueh o thai mak ai boeh: van kaminawk baktiah ni oh o boeh; angthawk lethaih caa ah oh o pongah, Sithaw caa ah ni oh o boeh.
37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses intimated at the bush, when he called the Lord, “the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”
Toe Mosi mah Angraeng loe Abraham ih Sithaw, Isak ih Sithaw, Jakob ih Sithaw ah oh, tiah kawk naah, hmai kangqong thing kabuk thung hoiah, kadueh kaminawk angthawk o boeh, tito a hnuksak.
38 Now God is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live with him.
Anih loe kadueh kaminawk ih Sithaw na ai ni, kahing kaminawk ih Sithaw ah ni oh: kaminawk loe anih ah hing o boih, tiah a naa.
39 Then some of the scribes addressing him said, Master, admirably hast thou spoken!
To naah thoemto ca tarik kaminawk mah, Patukkung, na thuih ih lok loe hoih, tiah a naa o.
40 And after that they durst not put another question to him.
To pacoengah loe nihcae mah anih khaeah lokdueng o ai boeh.
41 Then he spake to them: How say they that the Messiah is the son of David?
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Kawbangmaw nihcae mah, Kri loe David ih capa ni, tiah thuih o?
42 Yet David himself, in the book of Psalms, saith, “The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit down at my right hand,
David mah loe Saam Cabu thungah, Angraeng mah, ka Angraeng khaeah,
43 until I put thine enemies for a footstool of thy feet.”
na misanawk na khok koenghaih ah ka sah ai karoek to, ka bantang bangah anghnu ah, tiah thuih.
44 David then calleth him Lord, and how then is he his son?
David mah anih to Angraeng, tiah kawk, to tih nahaeloe kawbangmaw Anih loe David ih Capa ah om thai tih? tiah a naa.
45 And whilst all the people were hearkening, he said to his disciples,
Kami boih mah a lok tahngaih o nathuem ah, Jesu mah a hnukbang kaminawk khaeah,
46 Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk about in trailing robes, and love salutations in the public places, and the principal seats in the synagogues, and the most honourable couch at suppers;
ca tarik kaminawk khae hoi acoe oh, nihcae loe kahni sawk to angkhuk o moe, amkaeh han koeh o, hmuenmae zawhhaih ahmuen ah saiqat paekhaih to a koeh o, Sineko ah kasang koek anghnuthaih hoi buhcaakhaih ahmuen to a koeh o;
47 who devour the houses of widows, and for a pretext make long prayers: these shall receive a more abundant punishment.
lamhmainawk ih im to muk pae o moe, minawk mikhnuk ah kasawk parai ah lawkthuih o: to baktih kaminawk loe kalen kue lokcaekhaih to hnu o tih.
