Zephaniah 1
1 The word of the Lord, which came vnto Zephaniah ye sonne of Cushi, the sonne of Gedaliah, the sonne of Amariah, the sonne of Hizkiah, in the dayes of Iosiah, the sonne of Amon King of Iudah.
Das Wort Jahwes, welches an Zephanja, den Sohn Chusis, des Sohnes Gedaljas, des Sohnes Amarjas, des Sohnes Hiskias, zur Zeit Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs von Juda erging.
2 I will surely destroy all things from off the land, saith the Lord.
Zusammenraffen, fortschaffen will ich alles vom Erdboden hinweg! - ist der Spruch Jahwes.
3 I will destroy man and beast: I wil destroy the foules of the heauen, and the fishes of the sea, and ruines shalbe to the wicked, and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord.
Fortschaffen will ich Menschen und Vieh, fortschaffen die Vögel unter dem Himmel und die Fische im Meer, die Ärgernisse samt den Gottlosen, und ich will die Menschen vom Erdboden vertilgen! - ist der Spruch Jahwes.
4 I will also stretch out mine hand vpon Iudah, and vpon all the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and I wil cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with ye Priestes,
Da werde ich meine Hand wider Juda und wider alle Bewohner Jerusalems ausrecken und von dieser Stätte den Namen Baals, den Namen der Götzenpriester zugleich mit den Priestern hinwegtilgen,
5 And them that worship the hoste of heauen vpon the house tops, and them that worship and sweare by the Lord, and sweare by Malcham,
Samt denen, die sich auf den Dächern vor dem Heere des Himmels niederwerfen, und denen, die sich niederwerfen vor Jahwe und zugleich beim Milkom schwören,
6 And them that are turned backe from the Lord, and those that haue not sought the Lord, nor inquired for him.
samt denen, die sich von Jahwe abgekehrt haben und die Jahwe nicht suchen, noch nach ihm fragen!
7 Be stil at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, and hath sanctified his ghests.
Still vor dem Herrn Jahwe! Denn nahe ist der Tag Jahwes; ja zugerüstet hat Jahwe ein Opfer, er hat schon die von ihm Geladenen geweiht.
8 And it shalbe in the day of the Lords sacrifice, that I will visite the princes and the Kings children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparell.
Am Tage des Opfers Jahwes aber, da werde ich die Oberen heimsuchen samt den königlichen Prinzen und allen denen, die sich in ausländische Gewänder kleiden.
9 In the same day also will I visite all those that dance vpon the threshold so proudly, which fill their masters houses by crueltie and deceite.
Jenes Tags suche ich alle die heim, die über die Schwelle hüpfen, die das Haus ihres Herrn mit dem Ertrag aus Gewaltthat und Trug anfüllen.
10 And in that day, saith the Lord, there shall be a noise, and cry from the fishgate, and an howling from the second gate, and a great destruction from the hilles.
An jenem Tage - ist der Spruch Jahwes - wird Wehgeschrei vom Fischthor her erschallen und Wehgeheul vom zweiten Stadtteil her und gewaltiges Zetergeschrei von den Hügeln her.
11 Howle ye inhabitants of the lowe place: for the companie of the marchants is destroyed: all they that beare siluer, are cut off.
Heulet, die ihr im “Mörser” wohnt, denn vernichtet ist die gesamte Kaufmannschaft, vertilgt sind alle, die Geld wägen.
12 And at that time will I searche Ierusalem with lightes, and visite the men that are frosen in their dregges, and say in their heartes, The Lord will neither doe good nor doe euill.
Zur selbigen Zeit aber werde ich Jerusalem mit Leuchten durchforschen und die Leute heimsuchen, die da steif geworden sind auf ihren Hefen, die in ihrem Sinne sprechen: “Jahwe vermag weder Glück zu geben noch zu schaden!”
13 Therefore their goods shall be spoyled, and their houses waste: they shall also build houses, but not inhabite them, and they shall plant vineyards, but not drinke the wine thereof.
Da werden dann ihre Güter der Plünderung und ihre Häuser der Verödung anheimfallen; und bauen sie Häuser, so sollen sie nicht darin wohnen, und pflanzen sie Weingärten, so sollen sie doch keinen Wein davon trinken!
14 The great day of the Lord is neere: it is neere, and hasteth greatly, euen the voyce of the day of the Lord: the strong man shall cry there bitterly.
Nahe ist der große Tag Jahwes; er ist nahe und kommt gar eilend heran. Horch! der Tag Jahwes! Bitterlich schreit da der Held.
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and heauinesse, a day of destruction and desolation, a day of obscuritie and darkenesse, a day of cloudes and blackenesse,
Ein Tag des Grimms ist jener Tag, ein Tag der Angst und Drangsal, ein Tag der Wüste und Verwüstung, ein Tag der Finsternis und Dunkelheit, ein Tag des Gewölks und Wolkendunkels,
16 A day of the trumpet and alarme against the strong cities, and against the hie towres.
ein Tag der Trompete und des Lärmblasens - wider die befestigten Städte und wieder die hohen Zinnen!
17 And I will bring distresse vpon men, that they shall walke like blind men, because they haue sinned against the Lord, and their blood shall be powred out as dust, and their flesh as the dongue.
Da werde ich die Menschen ängstigen, daß sie wie Blinde umhergehen, weil sie wider Jahwe gesündigt haben, und ihr Blut soll wie Staub hingeschüttet werden und ihr Gedärme dem Kote gleich.
18 Neither their siluer nor their golde shalbe able to deliuer them in ye day of the Lords wrath, but the whole lande shalbe deuoured by the fire of his ielousie: for hee shall make euen a speedie riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
Weder ihr Silber noch ihr Gold wird sie am Tage des Grimms Jahwes zu retten vermögen; vielmehr soll vom Feuer seines Eifers die ganze Erde verzehrt werden. Denn den Garaus, ja jähen Untergang bereitet er den Bewohnern der Erde insgesamt.
