Zechariah 1

1 In the eight moneth of the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo, the Prophet, saying,

Am achten Neumonde, im zweiten Jahre des Darius, erging das Wort des Herrn an den Propheten Zacharias, des Barachias Sohn und Iddos Enkel, also lautend:

2 The Lord hath bene sore displeased with your fathers.

"Gar schwer hat über eure Väter sich der Herr erzürnt.

3 Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne ye vnto me, saith the Lord of hostes, and I will turne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes.

Zu ihnen sprich: So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: 'Zu mir kehrt euch', ein Spruch des Herrn der Heerscharen, 'dann kehr' auch ich mich zu euch.' So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen.

4 Be ye not as your fathers, vnto whome the former prophets haue cried, saying, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne you nowe from your euill wayes, and from your wicked workes: but they would not heare, nor hearken vnto me, saith the Lord.

'Seid nicht wie eure Väter, denen einst die früheren Propheten zugerufen: "So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Bekehret euch von euren schlimmen Wegen, euren bösen Taten!" Sie aber hörten nicht und hatten keine Acht auf mich.' Ein Spruch des Herrn.

5 your fathers, where are they? and doe the Prophets liue for euer?

'Wo sind nun eure Väter? Wo die Propheten? Leben diese ewig?

6 But did not my wordes and my statutes, which I commanded by my seruants ye Prophets, take holde of your fathers? and they returned, and sayd, As the Lord of hostes hath determined to doe vnto vs, according to our owne wayes, and according to our workes, so hath hee dealt with vs.

Doch meine Worte und Beschlüsse, die ich einst meinen Dienern, den Propheten, aufgetragen, haben sie nicht eure Väter in der Tat getroffen? Ja, kämen sie zurück, sie sprächen: "So, wie der Herr der Heerscharen nach unserm Wandel, unsere Taten uns zu tun beschlossen hatte, so hat er wirklich auch an uns getan."'"

7 Vpon the foure and twentieth day of the eleuenth moneth, which is the moneth Shebat, in the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo the Prophet, saying,

Am vierundzwanzigsten des elften Monats, das ist im Monat Schebat, im zweiten Jahre des Darius, erging das Wort des Herrn an Zacharias, Barachias' Sohn und Iddos Enkel, den Propheten:

8 I saw by night, and behold a man riding vpon a red horse, and hee stood among the mirre trees, that were in a bottome, and behinde him were there red horses speckeled and white.

Mir wurde ein Gesicht in letzter Nacht zuteil: Auf einem roten Rosse saß ein Mann. Er hielt mit einem Heer von Tausenden Berittener, und hinter ihm gab's dunkle, rote, weiße Reiter.

9 Then sayd I, O my Lord, what are these? And the Angel that talked with me, sayde vnto me, I wil shew thee what these be.

"Mein Herr", sprach ich, "was sollen diese?" Und mir erwiderte der Engel, der mit mir zu reden pflegte: "Ich will dir zeigen, was sie sollen."

10 And the man that stood among the mirre trees, answered, and sayd, These are they whome the Lord hath sent to go through the world.

Und dann begann der Mann, der mit dem Heer der Tausende dastand, zu sprechen: "Dies sind die Leute, die der Herr gesandt, die Erde zu durchstreifen."

11 And they answered the Angel of the Lord, that stood among the mirre trees, and sayd, We haue gone thorowe the world: and beholde, all the world sitteth still, and is at rest.

Da meldeten sie sich bei dem Herrenengel, der mit dem Heer der Tausende dastand, und sprachen: "Durchzogen haben wir die Erde; die ganze Erde liegt in Ruh und Frieden."

12 Then the Angel of the Lord answered and sayd, O Lord of hostes, howe long wilt thou be vnmercifull to Ierusalem, and to the cities of Iudah, with whom thou hast bene displeased now these threescore and ten yeeres?

Da hob des Herren Engel an und sprach: "Du Herr der Heerscharen! Wie lang willst Du denn Dich nicht Jerusalems erbarmen, nicht der Städte Judas, denen du schon siebzig Jahre zürnst?"

13 And the Lord answered the Angel that talked with me, with good wordes and comfortable wordes.

Da gab der Herr dem Engel, der Mir liebe Worte zugesprochen, Worte voller Trost zu hören.

14 So the Angel that communed with me, said vnto me, Crie thou, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I am ielous ouer Ierusalem and Zion with a great zeale,

Dann sprach zu mir der Engel, der mit mir redete: "So predige und sprich! So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: 'Für Jerusalem und Sion glühe ich vor übergroßem Liebeseifer.

15 And am greatly angrie against the carelesse heathen: for I was angrie but a litle, and they helped forward the affliction.

Dagegen zürne ich den satten Heidenvölkern sehr, denn während ich ein wenig nur gezürnt, da halfen sie das Übel noch vergrößern.'

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord, I wil returne vnto Ierusalem with tender mercie: mine house shall be builded in it, saith the Lord of hostes, and a line shall be stretched vpon Ierusalem.

Deshalb spricht so der Herr: 'Ich wende mich Jerusalem in Gnade wieder zu; errichtet wird darin mein Haus', ein Spruch des Herrn der Heerscharen, 'und angelegt die Meßschnur an Jerusalem.'

17 Cry yet, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, My cities shall yet be broken with plentie: the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet chuse Ierusalem.

Noch einmal predige: So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: 'Von Segen sollen meine Städte überfließen!' Der Herr wird Sion wieder trösten, Jerusalem sich wiederum erwählen."

18 Then lift I vp mine eyes and sawe, and beholde, foure hornes.

Ich schlug aufs neue meine Augen auf und schaute; da zeigten sich der Hörner vier.

19 And I said vnto the Angel that talked with me, What be these? And hee answered me, These are the hornes which haue scattered Iudah, Israel, and Ierusalem.

Da fragte ich den Engel, der mit mir redete: "Was sollen diese?" Er sprach zu mir: "Dies sind die Hörner, die Israel und Juda und Jerusalem zu Boden stießen."

20 And the Lord shewed me foure carpenters.

Alsdann ließ mich der Herr vier Schmiede sehen.

21 Then said I, What come these to doe? And he answered, and said, These are the hornes, which haue scattered Iudah, so that a man durst not lift vp his head: but these are come to fray them, and to cast out the hornes of the Gentiles, which lift vp their horne ouer the land of Iudah, to scatter it.

Ich sprach: "Was wollen diese tun?" Er sprach zu mir: "Dies sind die Hörner, die zu Boden Juda stießen, daß keiner mehr sein Haupt erheben mochte; da kommen jene, diese zu entfernen, der Heidenvölker Hörner hinzuwerfen, die gegen Judaland das Horn erhoben, es auf den Boden hinzustoßen."
