Romans 13

1 Let euery soule be subiect vnto the higher powers: for there is no power but of God: and the powers that be, are ordeined of God.

Fiecare suflet să se supună autorităților superioare, căci nu există autoritate decât de la Dumnezeu, iar cele ce există sunt rânduite de Dumnezeu.

2 Whosoeuer therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist, shall receiue to themselues condemnation.

De aceea, cel care se împotrivește autorității se împotrivește rânduielii lui Dumnezeu; iar cei care se împotrivesc vor primi pentru ei înșiși judecata.

3 For Magistrates are not to be feared for good workes, but for euill. Wilt thou then bee without feare of the power? doe well: so shalt thou haue praise of the same.

Căci conducătorii nu sunt o teroare pentru fapta bună, ci pentru cea rea. Doriți să nu vă temeți de autoritate? Fă ceea ce este bun, și vei avea parte de laudă din partea autorității,

4 For he is ye minister of God for thy wealth, but if thou do euill, feare: for he beareth not the sworde for nought: for he is the minister of God to take vengeance on him that doeth euill.

căci ea este un slujitor al lui Dumnezeu pentru tine, spre bine. Dar dacă faci ceea ce este rău, teme-te, căci nu degeaba poartă sabia, căci este un slujitor al lui Dumnezeu, răzbunător pentru mânia celui care face răul.

5 Wherefore ye must bee subiect, not because of wrath only, but also for conscience sake.

De aceea trebuie să vă supuneți, nu numai din cauza mâniei, ci și din cauza conștiinței.

6 For, for this cause ye pay also tribute: for they are Gods ministers, applying themselues for the same thing.

De aceea și voi plătiți impozite, pentru că sunt slujitori ai lui Dumnezeu, care fac în permanență tocmai acest lucru.

7 Giue to all men therefore their duetie: tribute, to whome yee owe tribute: custome, to whom custome: feare, to whome feare: honour, to whom ye owe honour.

De aceea, dați fiecăruia ceea ce îi este dator: dacă datorați impozite, plătiți impozitele; dacă aveți vameși, atunci vameși; dacă aveți respect, atunci respect; dacă aveți onoare, atunci onoare.

8 Owe nothing to any man, but to loue one another: for he that loueth another, hath fulfilled the Lawe.

Să nu datorați nimănui nimic, decât să vă iubiți unii pe alții; căci cine iubește pe aproapele său a împlinit Legea.

9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adulterie, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steale, Thou shalt not beare false witnes, Thou shalt not couet: and if there be any other commandement, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, euen in this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe.

Căci poruncile: “Să nu comiți adulter”, “Să nu ucizi”, “Să nu furi”, “Să nu poftești” și orice alte porunci ar mai fi, toate se rezumă la acest cuvânt, și anume: “Să iubești pe aproapele tău ca pe tine însuți”.

10 Loue doeth not euill to his neighbour: therefore is loue the fulfilling of the Lawe.

Dragostea nu face rău aproapelui. Prin urmare, iubirea este împlinirea legii.

11 And that, considering the season, that it is now time that we should arise from sleepe: for now is our saluation neerer, then when we beleeued it.

Fă aceasta, știind că a sosit deja vremea să te trezești din somn, căci mântuirea este mai aproape de noi decât atunci când am crezut.

12 The night is past, and the day is at hande, let vs therefore cast away the workes of darkenesse, and let vs put on the armour of light,

Noaptea este departe, și ziua este aproape. Să ne lepădăm deci de faptele întunericului și să ne îmbrăcăm cu armura luminii.

13 So that wee walke honestly, as in the day: not in gluttonie, and drunkennesse, neither in chambering and wantonnes, nor in strife and enuying.

Să umblăm cum se cuvine, ca în timpul zilei; nu în desfrâu și beție, nu în promiscuitate sexuală și acte de desfrânare, nu în certuri și gelozie.

14 But put yee on the Lord JESUS CHRIST, and take no thought for the flesh, to fulfill the lustes of it.

Ci îmbrăcați-vă în Domnul Isus Hristos și nu faceți niciun fel de provizii pentru carne, pentru poftele ei.
