Psalms 83
1 A song, or Psalme committed to Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: bee not still, and cease not, O God.
Cantique. Psaume d’Assaph. O Dieu, n’arrête plus ton action, ne garde pas le silence, ne reste pas en repos, ô Tout-Puissant!
2 For lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee, haue lifted vp the head.
Car voilà tes ennemis qui s’agitent en tumulte, et tes adversaires qui lèvent la tête.
3 They haue taken craftie counsell against thy people, and haue consulted against thy secret ones.
Contre ton peuple ils ourdissent des complots; ils se concertent contre ceux que tu protèges.
4 They haue said, Come and let vs cut them off from being a nation: and let the name of Israel be no more in remembrance.
Ils disent: "Allons, rayons-les du nombre des nations; que le nom d’Israël ne soit plus mentionné!"
5 For they haue consulted together in heart, and haue made a league against thee:
Car, d’un commun accord, ils prennent des résolutions, contre toi ils font un pacte:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Agarims:
les tentes d’Edom et les Ismaélites, Moabites et Hagrites,
7 Gebal and Ammon, and Amalech, the Philistims with the inhabitants of Tyrus:
Ghebal, Ammon et Amalec, les Philistins ainsi que les habitants de Tyr;
8 Asshur also is ioyned with them: they haue bene an arme to the children of Lot. (Selah)
Achour aussi se joint à eux; ils prêtent main-forte aux fils de Loth. (Sélah)
9 Doe thou to them as vnto the Midianites: as to Sisera and as to Iabin at the riuer of Kishon.
Traite-les comme tu as traité Madian, Sisara et Jabin près du torrent de Kison,
10 They perished at En-dor, and were dung for the earth.
qui furent anéantis à Endor, couchés sur le sol comme du fumier.
11 Make them, euen their princes like Oreb and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes like Zebah and like Zalmuna.
Rends leur noble pareille à Oreb et à Zeêb, et tous leurs princes, pareils à Zébah et Çalmouna,
12 Which haue said, Let vs take for our possession the habitations of God.
car ils ont dit: "Emparons-nous des demeures de Dieu."
13 O my God, make them like vnto a wheele, and as the stubble before the winde.
Mon Dieu, fais d’eux comme un tourbillon de poussière, comme du chaume emporté par le vent.
14 As the fire burneth the forest, and as the flame setteth the mountaines on fire:
De même que le feu dévore les forêts, que la flamme embrase les montagnes,
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraide with thy storme.
ainsi pourchasse-les par ta tempête, jette-les dans une fuite éperdue par ton ouragan.
16 Fill their faces with shame, that they may seeke thy Name, O Lord.
Couvre leur visage d’opprobre, pour qu’ils recherchent ton nom, ô Eternel.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for euer: yea, let them be put to shame and perish,
Qu’ils soient confondus, terrifiés à jamais, saisis de honte et perdus.
18 That they may knowe that thou, which art called Iehouah, art alone, euen the most High ouer all the earth.
Qu’ils reconnaissent ainsi que toi seul as nom Eternel, que tu es le Maître suprême de toute la terre.
