Psalms 79
1 A Psalme committed to Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance: thine holy Temple haue they defiled, and made Ierusalem heapes of stones.
Salmo de Asafe: Ó Deus, as nações invadiram a tua herança; contaminaram ao teu santo Templo; tornaram Jerusalém em amontoados de ruínas.
2 The dead bodies of thy seruats haue they giuen to be meat vnto foules of ye heauen: and the flesh of thy Saintes vnto the beastes of the earth.
Deram os cadáveres dos teus servos por comida para as aves dos céus; a carne dos teus consagrados aos animais da terra.
3 Their blood haue they shead like waters rounde about Ierusalem, and there was none to burie them.
Derramaram o sangue deles como água ao redor de Jerusalém, e não havia quem os enterrasse.
4 Wee are a reproche to our neighbours, euen a scorne and derision vnto them that are round about vs.
Somos humilhados pelos nossos vizinhos; zombados e escarnecidos pelos que estão ao nosso redor.
5 Lord, howe long wilt thou be angrie, for euer? shall thy gelousie burne like fire?
Até quando, SENHOR? Ficarás tu irado para sempre? Teus ciúmes arderão como o fogo?
6 Powre out thy wrath vpon the heathen that haue not knowen thee, and vpon the kingdomes that haue not called vpon thy Name.
Derrama o teu furor sobre as nações que não te conhecem, sobre os reinos que não clamam pelo teu nome;
7 For they haue deuoured Iaakob and made his dwelling place desolate.
porque devoraram Jacó, e arruinaram suas habitações.
8 Remember not against vs the former iniquities, but make haste and let thy tender mercies preuent vs: for we are in great miserie.
Não nos castigue pelas perversidades do passado; apressa-te, que as tuas misericórdias venham até nós, porque estamos muito fracos.
9 Helpe vs, O God of our saluation, for the glorie of thy Name, and deliuer vs, and be mercifull vnto our sinnes for thy Names sake.
Socorre-nos, ó Deus da nossa salvação, para glorificar o teu nome; livra-nos, e perdoa os nossos pecados por causa do teu nome.
10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be knowen among the heathen in our sight by the vengeance of the blood of thy seruants that is shed.
Qual é a finalidade de que as nações digam: Onde está o Deus deles? Que a vingança do sangue derramado dos teus servos seja conhecida entre as nações, diante dos nossos olhos.
11 Let the sighing of the prisoners come before thee: according to thy mightie arme preserue the children of death,
Chegue diante de ti o gemido dos prisioneiros; conforme o teu grande poder, salva a vida dos sentenciados à morte.
12 And render to our neighbours seuen folde into their bosome their reproche, wherewith they haue reproched thee, O Lord.
E retribui a nossos vizinhos em seus corpos sete vezes tanto dos insultos que te insultaram, ó Senhor.
13 So wee thy people, and sheepe of thy pasture shall praise thee for euer: and from generation to generation we will set foorth thy praise.
Assim nós, o teu povo, e as ovelhas de teu pasto, te louvaremos para sempre; de geração em geração cantaremos louvores a ti.
