Psalms 79

1 A Psalme committed to Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance: thine holy Temple haue they defiled, and made Ierusalem heapes of stones.

Ein Lied, von Asaph. - Gott! Heiden dringen in Dein Eigentum, entweihen Deinen heiligen Tempel. Jerusalem verwandeln sie in Trümmer.

2 The dead bodies of thy seruats haue they giuen to be meat vnto foules of ye heauen: and the flesh of thy Saintes vnto the beastes of the earth.

Sie geben Deiner Knechte Leichen hin zum Fraß den Vögeln unterm Himmel und Deiner Frommen Fleisch den wilden Tieren.

3 Their blood haue they shead like waters rounde about Ierusalem, and there was none to burie them.

Ihr Blut vergießen sie wie Wasser her um Jerusalem; man läßt sie unbegraben.

4 Wee are a reproche to our neighbours, euen a scorne and derision vnto them that are round about vs.

Zum Hohne sind wir unsern Nachbarn, zum Spott und Schimpf für unsere Umgebung.

5 Lord, howe long wilt thou be angrie, for euer? shall thy gelousie burne like fire?

Wie lange zürnst Du, Herr, ohn Unterlaß und brennt dem Feuer gleich Dein Eifer?

6 Powre out thy wrath vpon the heathen that haue not knowen thee, and vpon the kingdomes that haue not called vpon thy Name.

Gieß Deinen Grimm auf diese Heiden aus, die Dich nicht kennen, und auf die Reiche, die nicht rufen Deinen Namen!

7 For they haue deuoured Iaakob and made his dwelling place desolate.

Denn sie verschlingen Jakob und machen wüste seine Wohnungen.

8 Remember not against vs the former iniquities, but make haste and let thy tender mercies preuent vs: for we are in great miserie.

Der Ahnen Sündenschulden rechne uns nicht an! Schnell komme Dein Erbarmen uns entgegen! Denn wir sind ganz erschöpft.

9 Helpe vs, O God of our saluation, for the glorie of thy Name, and deliuer vs, and be mercifull vnto our sinnes for thy Names sake.

Gott unseres Heils, komm uns zu Hilfe, um Deines Namens Ehre! Befreie uns! Vergib uns unsere Sünden Deines Namens wegen!

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be knowen among the heathen in our sight by the vengeance of the blood of thy seruants that is shed.

Was sollten doch die Heiden sagen: "Wo bleibt denn ihr Gott?" Er zeige sich vor unsern Augen an den Heiden! Das sei die Rache jetzt für Deiner Knechte ausgegossen Blut!

11 Let the sighing of the prisoners come before thee: according to thy mightie arme preserue the children of death,

Das Stöhnen der Gefangenen laß zu Dir dringen! Durch Deinen starken Arm befrei des Todes Kinder!

12 And render to our neighbours seuen folde into their bosome their reproche, wherewith they haue reproched thee, O Lord.

Gib unsern Nachbarn siebenfach die Schmach zurück, mit der sie, Herr, Dich lästern!

13 So wee thy people, and sheepe of thy pasture shall praise thee for euer: and from generation to generation we will set foorth thy praise.

Dann wollen wir, Dein Volk, die Schäflein Deiner Weide, Dir ewig dankbar sein und künden für und für Dein Lob.
