Psalms 60
1 To him that excelleth upon Shushan Eduth, or Michtam. A Psalme of David to teach. When he fought against Aram Naharaim, and against Aram Zobah, when Joab returned and slew twelve thousand Edomites in the salt valley. O God, thou hast cast vs out, thou hast scattered vs, thou hast bene angry, turne againe vnto vs.
Auf den Siegesspender, für den öffentlichen Gottesdienst, ein Weihelied, von David, zum Lehren, als er mit den Syrern von Mesopotamien und den Syrern von Soba kämpfte, und als Joab zurückkehrte und die Edomiter im Salztal schlug, 12.000 Mann. Gott! Du verwirfst uns; ach, Du schlägst uns; Du läßt in Deinem Zorn zurück uns weichen.
2 Thou hast made the land to tremble, and hast made it to gape: heale the breaches thereof, for it is shaken.
Das Land erschütterst Du und schlägst ihm Wunden. Heil ihm die Wunden! Sieh, es wankt.
3 Thou hast shewed thy people heauy things: thou hast made vs to drinke the wine of giddines.
Du bist so hart mit Deinem Volke, tränkst uns mit Taumelwein
4 But now thou hast giuen a banner to them that feare thee, that it may be displayed because of thy trueth. (Selah)
und machst, daß, die Dich fürchten, im Kampfe irre fliehen müssen. (Sela)
5 That thy beloued may be deliuered, helpe with thy right hand and heare me.
Daß Deine Lieblinge gerettet werden, dazu verhilf mit Deiner Rechten! Höre uns!
6 God hath spoken in his holines: therefore I will reioyce: I shall deuide Shechem, and measure the valley of Succoth.
Gott hat in seinem Heiligtum gesprochen: "Ich soll im Siegesjubel Sichem jetzt verteilen, das Sukkot-Tal vermessen.
7 Gilead shalbe mine, and Manasseh shalbe mine: Ephraim also shalbe the strength of mine head: Iudah is my lawgiuer.
Mein würde Gilead, Manasse mein, und meine Hauptwehr Ephraim und Juda mein Regentenstab.
8 Moab shalbe my wash pot: ouer Edom will I cast out my shoe: Palestina shew thy selfe ioyfull for me.
Ich zwänge Moab, mir das Waschbecken, und Edom, mir die Schuhe herzurichten, und über Philistäa triumphierte ich.
9 Who will leade me into the strong citie? who will bring me vnto Edom?
Wer bringt mich aber jetzt zur festen Stadt? Wer führt mich jetzt nach Edom hin? -
10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadest cast vs off, and didest not go forth, O God, with our armies?
Bist Du's nicht, Gott, der uns verstößt, der nicht mit unsern Scharen auszieht, Gott?
11 Giue vs helpe against trouble: for vaine is the helpe of man.
Verschaffe Rettung uns aus dieser Not! Denn Menschenhilfe trügt.
12 Through God we shall doe valiantly: for he shall tread downe our enemies.
Mit Gott verrichten wir dann Heldentaten; nur er kann unsere Feinde niederwerfen.
