Psalms 54

1 To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalme of David, to give instruction. When the Ziphims came and said unto Saul, Is not David hid among us? Save mee, O God, by thy Name, and by thy power iudge me.

Au chef des chantres. Avec instruments à cordes. Cantique de David. Lorsque les Ziphiens vinrent dire à Saül: David n’est-il pas caché parmi nous? O Dieu! Sauve-moi par ton nom, Et rends-moi justice par ta puissance!

2 O God, heare my prayer: hearken vnto the wordes of my mouth.

O Dieu! Écoute ma prière, Prête l’oreille aux paroles de ma bouche!

3 For strangers are risen vp against me, and tyrants seeke my soule: they haue not set God before them. (Selah)

Car des étrangers se sont levés contre moi, Des hommes violents en veulent à ma vie; Ils ne portent pas leurs pensées sur Dieu. (Pause)

4 Beholde, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that vpholde my soule.

Voici, Dieu est mon secours, Le Seigneur est le soutien de mon âme.

5 He shall rewarde euill vnto mine enemies: Oh cut them off in thy trueth!

Le mal retombera sur mes adversaires; Anéantis-les, dans ta fidélité!

6 Then I will sacrifice freely vnto thee: I wil praise thy Name, O Lord, because it is good.

Je t’offrirai de bon cœur des sacrifices; Je louerai ton nom, ô Éternel! car il est favorable,

7 For he hath deliuered me out of al trouble, and mine eye hath seene my desire vpon mine enemies.

Car il me délivre de toute détresse, Et mes yeux se réjouissent à la vue de mes ennemis.
