Psalms 52
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid to giue instruction. When Doeg the Edomite came and shewed Saul, and saide to him, Dauid is come to the house of Abimelech. Why boastest thou thy selfe in thy wickednesse, O man of power? the louing kindenesse of God indureth dayly.
Een onderwijzing van David, voor den opperzangmeester. Als Doeg, de Edomiet, gekomen was, en Saul te kennen gegeven, en tot hem gezegd had: David is gekomen ten huize van Achimelech. Wat beroemt gij u in het kwaad, o gij geweldige? Gods goedertierenheid duurt toch den gansen dag.
2 Thy tongue imagineth mischiefe, and is like a sharpe rasor, that cutteth deceitfully.
Uw tong denkt enkel schade als een geslepen scheermes, werkende bedrog.
3 Thou doest loue euill more then good, and lies more then to speake the trueth. (Selah)
Gij hebt het kwade liever dan het goede, de leugen, dan gerechtigheid te spreken. (Sela)
4 Thou louest all wordes that may destroye, O deceitfull tongue!
Gij hebt lief alle woorden van verslinding, en een tong des bedrogs.
5 So shall God destroy thee for euer: he shall take thee and plucke thee out of thy tabernacle, and roote thee out of ye land of the liuing. (Selah)
God zal u ook afbreken in eeuwigheid; Hij zal u wegrapen en u uit de tent uitrukken; ja, Hij zal u uitwortelen uit het land der levenden. (Sela)
6 The righteous also shall see it, and feare, and shall laugh at him, saying,
En de rechtvaardigen zullen het zien, en vrezen; en zij zullen over hem lachen, zeggende:
7 Beholde the man that tooke not God for his strength, but trusted vnto the multitude of his riches, and put his strength in his malice.
Ziet den man, die God niet stelde tot Zijn Sterkte, maar vertrouwde op de veelheid zijns rijkdoms; hij was sterk geworden door zijn beschadigen.
8 But I shall bee like a greene oliue tree in the house of God: for I trusted in the mercie of God for euer and euer.
Maar ik zal zijn als een groene olijfboom in Gods huis; ik vertrouw op Gods goedertierenheid eeuwiglijk en altoos.
9 I will alway praise thee, for that thou hast done this, and I will hope in thy Name, because it is good before thy Saints.
Ik zal U loven in eeuwigheid, omdat Gij het gedaan hebt; en ik zal Uw Naam verwachten; want hij is goed voor Uw gunstgenoten.
