< Psalms 48 >

1 A song or Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praysed, in the Citie of our God, euen vpon his holy Mountaine.
A song a psalm of [the] sons of Korah. [is] great Yahweh and [is] to be praised exceedingly in [the] city of God our [the] mountain of holiness his.
2 Mount Zion, lying Northwarde, is faire in situation: it is the ioy of the whole earth, and the Citie of the great King.
[it is] beautiful of Height [the] joy of all the earth [the] mountain of Zion [the] remotest parts of Zaphon [the] town of [the] king great.
3 In the palaces thereof God is knowen for a refuge.
God [is] in fortresses its he has made himself known to a refuge.
4 For lo, the Kings were gathered, and went together.
For there! the kings they assembled they passed on together.
5 When they sawe it, they marueiled: they were astonied, and suddenly driuen backe.
They they saw thus they were astonished they were terrified they hurried away.
6 Feare came there vpon them, and sorowe, as vpon a woman in trauaile.
Trembling it seized them there anguish like [woman] giving birth.
7 As with an East winde thou breakest the shippes of Tarshish, so were they destroyed.
With a wind of [the] east you shatter ships of Tarshish.
8 As we haue heard, so haue we seene in the citie of the Lord of hostes, in the Citie of our God: God will stablish it for euer. (Selah)
Just as we have heard - so we have seen in [the] city of Yahweh of hosts in [the] city of God our God he will establish it until perpetuity (Selah)
9 We waite for thy louing kindnes, O God, in the middes of thy Temple.
We have reflected on O God covenant loyalty your in [the] midst of temple your.
10 O God, according vnto thy Name, so is thy prayse vnto the worlds end: thy right hand is full of righteousnes.
Like name your O God so praise your [is] over [the] ends of [the] earth righteousness it is full right [hand] your.
11 Let mount Zion reioyce, and the daughters of Iudah be glad, because of thy iudgements.
It will rejoice - [the] mountain of Zion they will be glad [the] daughters of Judah on account of judgments your.
12 Compasse about Zion, and goe round about it, and tell the towres thereof.
Go around Zion and go round it count towers its.
13 Marke well the wall thereof: beholde her towres, that ye may tell your posteritie.
Set heart your - to rampart its walk through fortresses its so that you may recount [it] to a generation later.
14 For this God is our God for euer and euer: he shall be our guide vnto the death.
For this - [is] God God our forever and ever he he will guide us on dying.
