Psalms 140

1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. Deliuer me, O Lord, from the euill man: preserue me from the cruel man:

Para o músico chefe. Um Salmo de David. Deliver me, Yahweh, de homens maus. Preservar-me de homens violentos:

2 Which imagine euill things in their heart, and make warre continually.

aqueles que inventam travessuras em seus corações. Eles se reúnem continuamente para a guerra.

3 They haue sharpened their tongues like a serpent: adders poyson is vnder their lips. (Selah)

Eles afiaram suas línguas como uma serpente. O veneno da víbora está sob seus lábios. (Selah)

4 Keepe mee, O Lord, from the handes of the wicked: preserue mee from the cruell man, which purposeth to cause my steppes to slide.

Yahweh, me afaste das mãos dos ímpios. Preserve-me dos homens violentos que determinaram tropeçar em meus pés.

5 The proude haue layde a snare for me, and spred a nette with cordes in my pathway, and set grennes for me. (Selah)

Os orgulhosos esconderam uma armadilha para mim, eles espalharam as cordas de uma rede pelo caminho. Eles montaram armadilhas para mim. (Selah)

6 Therefore I saide vnto the Lord, Thou art my God: heare, O Lord, the voyce of my prayers.

Eu disse a Javé: “Você é meu Deus”. Ouça o grito das minhas petições, Yahweh.

7 O Lord God the strength of my saluation, thou hast couered mine head in the day of battel.

Yahweh, o Senhor, a força da minha salvação, você cobriu minha cabeça no dia da batalha.

8 Let not the wicked haue his desire, O Lord: performe not his wicked thought, least they be proude. (Selah)

Yahweh, não conceda os desejos dos ímpios. Não deixe que seus planos maléficos tenham sucesso, ou eles se tornarão orgulhosos. (Selah)

9 As for the chiefe of them, that compasse me about, let the mischiefe of their owne lippes come vpon them.

Quanto à cabeça daqueles que me cercam, deixar que a maldade de seus próprios lábios os cubra.

10 Let coles fal vpon them: let him cast them into the fire, and into the deepe pits, that they rise not.

Let carvões queimados caem sobre eles. Que sejam atirados ao fogo, em fossos de lata, de onde eles nunca se levantam.

11 For the backbiter shall not be established vpon the earth: euill shall hunt the cruell man to destruction.

Um orador maligno não será estabelecido na terra. O mal vai caçar o homem violento para derrubá-lo.

12 I know that the Lord will auenge the afflicted, and iudge the poore.

Eu sei que Yahweh manterá a causa dos aflitos, e justiça para os necessitados.

13 Surely the righteous shall prayse thy Name, and the iust shall dwell in thy presence.

Certamente, os justos agradecerão seu nome. Os verticalizados habitarão em sua presença.
