Psalms 119
1 ALEPH. Blessed are those that are vpright in their way, and walke in the Lawe of the Lord.
Gelukkig, die onberispelijk zijn in hun wandel, En leven volgens Jahweh’s wet;
2 Blessed are they that keepe his testimonies, and seeke him with their whole heart.
Gelukkig, die op zijn vermaningen letten, Hem zoeken met geheel hun hart;
3 Surely they woorke none iniquitie, but walke in his waies.
Zij ook, die geen ongerechtigheid plegen, Maar blijven leven naar zijn woord.
4 Thou hast commanded to keepe thy precepts diligently.
Gij zelf hebt uw bevelen gegeven, Opdat men ze trouw zou volbrengen;
5 Oh that my waies were directed to keepe thy statutes!
Ach, mocht mijn gedrag zo onwankelbaar zijn, Dat ik uw inzettingen trouw onderhield.
6 Then should I not be confounded, when I haue respect vnto all thy commandements.
Dan zal ik nooit beschaamd komen staan, Als ik het oog richt op al uw geboden;
7 I will praise thee with an vpright heart, when I shall learne the iudgements of thy righteousnesse.
Maar in oprechtheid des harten zal ik U danken, Als ik uw rechtvaardige voorschriften leer.
8 I will keepe thy statutes: forsake mee not ouerlong.
Ik houd mij vast aan uw bestel: Verlaat mij dan niet voor altoos!
9 BETH. Wherewith shall a yong man redresse his waie? in taking heede thereto according to thy woorde.
Hoe kan een jongeman zijn reinheid bewaren? Door zich te houden aan uw woord!
10 With my whole heart haue I sought thee: let me not wander from thy commandements.
Ik heb U met heel mijn hart gezocht, Laat mij nooit uw geboden verlaten;
11 I haue hid thy promise in mine heart, that I might not sinne against thee.
Ik bewaar uw bestel in mijn hart, Om nooit te zondigen tegen U.
12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teache mee thy statutes.
Geprezen zijt Gij, o Jahweh, Leer mij uw inzettingen kennen;
13 With my lippes haue I declared all the iudgements of thy mouth.
Dan zal ik met mijn lippen verbreiden Al de voorschriften van uw mond.
14 I haue had as great delight in the way of thy testimonies, as in all riches.
Ik verheug mij over de weg, die uw vermaning mij wees, Meer dan over alle schatten;
15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and consider thy waies.
Uw bevelen wil ik overwegen, En op uw paden blijven letten;
16 I will delite in thy statutes, and I will not forget thy worde.
Ik wil mij aan uw wet verkwikken, En nimmermeer uw woord vergeten!
17 GIMEL. Be beneficiall vnto thy seruant, that I may liue and keepe thy woorde.
Laat uw dienstknecht leven, En ik zal uw woord onderhouden;
18 Open mine eies, that I may see the wonders of thy Lawe.
Neem de sluier van mijn ogen, Opdat ik de wonderen van uw wet aanschouwe.
19 I am a stranger vpon earth: hide not thy commandements from me.
Al ben ik maar een zwerver op aarde, Verberg mij uw bevelen niet;
20 Mine heart breaketh for the desire to thy iudgements alway.
Want mijn ziel wordt verteerd van verlangen Naar uw voorschriften, altijd door.
21 Thou hast destroied the proud: cursed are they that doe erre from thy commandements.
Gij bedreigt de hoogmoedigen, Vervloekt, die uw geboden verlaat;
22 Remoue from mee shame and contempt: for I haue kept thy testimonies.
Wend dan smaad en hoon van mij af, Want uw vermaningen neem ik ter harte.
23 Princes also did sit, and speake against me: but thy seruant did meditate in thy statutes.
Al spannen ook vorsten tegen mij samen, Uw dienstknecht peinst over uw inzettingen na;
24 Also thy testimonies are my delite, and my counsellers.
Ja, uw bestel is mij een lust, En mijn berader.
25 DALETH. My soule cleaueth to the dust: quicken me according to thy worde.
Reeds ligt mijn ziel aan het stof gekluisterd: Wek mij ten leven naar uw woord.
26 I haue declared my waies, and thou heardest me: teache me thy statutes.
Mijn leven heb ik U open gelegd: Gij hebt mij gehoord, Leer mij thans uw inzettingen kennen;
27 Make me to vnderstand ye way of thy precepts, and I will meditate in thy wondrous workes.
Onderricht mij, hoe ik naar uw bevelen moet leven, En ik zal uw wonderen vermelden.
28 My soule melteth for heauinesse: raise mee vp according vnto thy worde.
Mijn ziel kwijnt weg van ellende: Richt mij naar uw bestel weer op.
29 Take from mee the way of lying, and graunt me graciously thy Lawe.
Houd de weg der leugen ver van mij af, En schenk mij genadig uw wet;
30 I haue chosen the way of trueth, and thy iudgements haue I laied before me.
Ik heb de weg der waarheid gekozen, Uw voorschriften mij voor ogen gesteld.
31 I haue cleaued to thy testimonies, O Lord: confound me not.
Ik klamp mij aan uw vermaningen vast, Maak mij niet te schande, o Jahweh;
32 I will runne the way of thy commandements, when thou shalt enlarge mine heart.
De weg uwer geboden zal ik bewandelen, Als Gij mijn hart maar verblijdt.
33 HE. Teach mee, O Lord, the way of thy statutes, and I will keepe it vnto the ende.
Leer mij, Jahweh, naar uw inzettingen leven, Opdat ik ze ten einde toe onderhoud;
34 Giue mee vnderstanding, and I will keepe thy Law: yea, I wil keepe it with my whole heart.
Geef mij inzicht om uw wet te volbrengen, En met heel mijn hart te beleven;
35 Direct mee in the path of thy commandements: for therein is my delite.
Laat mij het pad uwer geboden betreden, Want dat is mijn vreugd.
36 Incline mine heart vnto thy testimonies, and not to couetousnesse.
Neig mijn hart naar uw vermaningen, En niet naar gewin;
37 Turne away mine eies from regarding vanitie, and quicken me in thy way.
Wend mijn ogen van de ijdelheid af, En laat mij leven naar uw woord.
38 Stablish thy promise to thy seruaunt, because he feareth thee.
Doe uw bestel aan uw dienstknecht gestand, Dat Gij beschikt hebt voor hen, die U vrezen;
39 Take away my rebuke that I feare: for thy iudgements are good.
Wentel de smaad, die ik ducht, van mij weg, Want uw voorschriften blijven voortreffelijk.
40 Beholde, I desire thy commandements: quicken me in thy righteousnesse,
Zie, ik hunker naar uw bevelen, Laat mij door uw gerechtigheid leven!
41 VAV. And let thy louing kindnesse come vnto me, O Lord, and thy saluation according to thy promise.
Moge uw genade mijn deel zijn, o Jahweh, En uw heil naar uw bestel;
42 So shall I make answere vnto my blasphemers: for I trust in thy woorde.
Dan zal ik mijn lasteraars te woord kunnen staan, Want ik vertrouw op uw woord;
43 And take not the woorde of trueth vtterly out of my mouth: for I waite for thy iudgements.
Neem het woord der waarheid niet geheel uit mijn mond, Want ik wacht uw voorschriften af.
44 So shall I alway keepe thy Lawe for euer and euer.
Uw wet wil ik steeds onderhouden, Voor eeuwig en immer;
45 And I will walke at libertie: for I seeke thy precepts.
Dan zal ik ongestoord kunnen leven, Omdat ik naar uw bevelen vraag.
46 I will speake also of thy testimonies before Kings, and will not be ashamed.
Zelfs koningen zal ik van uw vermaningen spreken, En mij er nooit over schamen;
47 And my delite shalbe in thy commandements, which I haue loued.
Ik zal mij aan uw geboden verkwikken, Die ik van harte bemin;
48 Mine handes also will I lift vp vnto thy commandements, which I haue loued, and I will meditate in thy statutes.
Tot U zal ik mijn handen verheffen, En uw inzettingen overwegen.
49 ZAIN. Remember the promise made to thy seruant, wherein thou hast caused me to trust.
Gedenk het woord, tot uw dienstknecht gesproken, En waarop Gij mijn hoop hebt gesteld;
50 It is my comfort in my trouble: for thy promise hath quickened me.
Dit is mijn troost in mijn ellende, Dat uw bestel mij het leven behoudt.
51 The proude haue had me exceedingly in derision: yet haue I not declined from thy Lawe.
Al bespotten de bozen mij nog zo vijandig, Toch wijk ik niet af van uw wet;
52 I remembred thy iudgements of olde, O Lord, and haue bene comforted.
Ik blijf uw aloude voorschriften indachtig, En voel mij er door getroost, o Jahweh;
53 Feare is come vpon mee for the wicked, that forsake thy Lawe.
Maar gramschap maakt zich van mij meester, Om de zondaars, die uw geboden verlaten.
54 Thy statutes haue beene my songes in the house of my pilgrimage.
Uw inzettingen ruisen als zangen mij tegen In het huis van mijn ballingschap;
55 I haue remembred thy Name, O Lord, in the night, and haue kept thy Lawe.
Des nachts, o Jahweh, gedenk ik uw Naam, En volg uw vermaningen op;
56 This I had because I kept thy precepts.
Want dit is mijn plicht: Dat ik uw bevelen volbreng.
57 CHETH. O Lord, that art my portion, I haue determined to keepe thy wordes.
Gij zijt mijn erfdeel, o Jahweh: Ik heb beloofd, uw woord te volbrengen;
58 I made my supplication in thy presence with my whole heart: be mercifull vnto me according to thy promise.
Van ganser harte zoek ik uw aanschijn, Wees mij genadig naar uw bestel.
59 I haue considered my waies, and turned my feete into thy testimonies.
Ik overleg bij mijzelf, welke weg ik moet gaan, En naar uw vermaningen richt ik mijn schreden;
60 I made haste and delaied not to keepe thy commandements.
Ik haast mij, zonder ooit te talmen, Om uw geboden te onderhouden;
61 The bandes of the wicked haue robbed me: but I haue not forgotten thy Lawe.
En al houden mij de strikken der bozen gevangen, Nooit vergeet ik uw wet;
62 At midnight will I rise to giue thanks vnto thee, because of thy righteous iudgements.
Midden in de nacht sta ik op, Om U voor uw rechtvaardige voorschriften te danken.
63 I am companion of all them that feare thee, and keepe thy precepts.
Ik ben de vriend van al, die U vreest, En die uw bevelen volbrengt;
64 The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercie: teache me thy statutes.
De aarde is vol van uw goedheid, o Jahweh, Leer mij maar uw inzettingen kennen.
65 TETH. O Lord, thou hast delt graciously with thy seruant according vnto thy woorde.
Gij hebt uw dienstknecht wèl gedaan, O Jahweh, naar uw woord;
66 Teach me good iudgement and knowledge: for I haue beleeued thy commandements.
Schenk mij een helder oordeel en inzicht, Want ik heb vertrouwen in uw geboden.
67 Before I was afflicted, I went astray: but nowe I keepe thy woorde.
Eer ik vernederd werd, dwaalde ik af, Maar nu houd ik mij aan uw bestel;
68 Thou art good and gracious: teach me thy statutes.
Gij zijt goed en doet wèl: Leer mij dan uw inzettingen kennen.
69 The proud haue imagined a lie against me: but I wil keepe thy precepts with my whole heart.
Onbeschaamden belasteren mij, Want van ganser harte neem ik uw bevelen in acht;
70 Their heart is fatte as grease: but my delite is in thy Lawe.
Lomp als vet is hun hart, Maar ìk vind mijn vreugd in uw wet;
71 It is good for me that I haue beene afflicted, that I may learne thy statutes.
En het was mij goed, te worden vernederd, Om uw vermaningen te leren verstaan;
72 The Lawe of thy mouth is better vnto me, then thousands of golde and siluer.
Want de voorschriften van uw mond schat ik hoger, Dan duizenden in goud en zilver!
73 IOD. Thine hands haue made me and fashioned me: giue mee vnderstanding therefore, that I may learne thy commandements.
Uw handen hebben mij gemaakt en gevormd, Geef mij ook inzicht, om uw geboden te kennen;
74 So they that feare thee, seeing mee shall reioyce, because I haue trusted in thy worde.
Dan zien, die U vrezen, met vreugd op mij neer, Omdat ik vertrouw op uw woord.
75 I knowe, O Lord, that thy iudgements are right, and that thou hast afflicted me iustly.
Ik weet, dat uw oordeel rechtvaardig is, Jahweh, En dat Gij mij naar verdienste kastijdt;
76 I pray thee that thy mercie may comfort me according to thy promise vnto thy seruant.
Maar uw genade zij mij tot troost, Naar uw bestel voor uw knecht;
77 Let thy tender mercies come vnto me, that I may liue: for thy Lawe is my delite.
Uw ontferming dale op mij neer, en doe mij herleven, Want uw wet is mij een verkwikking.
78 Let the proude be ashamed: for they haue dealt wickedly and falsely with me: but I meditate in thy precepts.
Schande voor de trotsen, die onverdiend mij verdrukken, Daar ik uw bevelen bedenk;
79 Let such as feare thee turne vnto me, and they that knowe thy testimonies.
Maar mijn vrienden mogen zijn, die U vrezen, En die uw vermaningen kennen;
80 Let mine heart bee vpright in thy statutes, that I be not ashamed.
Door uw inzettingen worde mijn hart zonder smet, Zodat ik niet beschaamd hoef te staan.
81 CAPH. My soule fainteth for thy saluation: yet I waite for thy worde.
Mijn ziel smacht naar uw heil, Ik vertrouw op uw woord;
82 Mine eyes faile for thy promise, saying, when wilt thou comfort me?
Mijn ogen hunkeren naar uw bestel, En vragen: Wanneer brengt Gij mij troost?
83 For I am like a bottell in the smoke: yet doe I not forget thy statutes.
Al ben ik als een leren zak in de rook, Toch vergeet ik uw inzettingen niet.
84 Howe many are the dayes of thy seruant? When wilt thou execute iudgement on them that persecute me?
Ach, hoelang zal uw dienstknecht nog leven, En wanneer voltrekt Gij aan mijn vervolgers uw oordeel?
85 The proude haue digged pittes for mee, which is not after thy Lawe.
Onbeschaamden hebben mij kuilen gegraven, Want ze leven niet naar uw wet.
86 All thy commandements are true: they persecute me falsely: helpe me.
Al uw geboden zijn waarachtig, Maar men vervolgt mij met leugens: Ach kom mij te hulp;
87 They had almost consumed me vpon the earth: but I forsooke not thy precepts.
Men had mij haast van de aarde verdelgd, Toch had ik mij niet aan uw bevelen onttrokken;
88 Quicken me according to thy louing kindnes: so shall I keepe the testimony of thy mouth.
Behoud mij in het leven naar uw genade, En de vermaningen van uw mond volg ik op!
89 LAMED. O Lord, thy worde endureth for euer in heauen.
Uw woord blijft eeuwig, o Jahweh, Het staat vast als de hemel;
90 Thy trueth is from generation to generation: thou hast layed the foundation of the earth, and it abideth.
Uw bestel houdt stand van geslacht tot geslacht, Staat vast als de aarde, die Gij hebt gegrond;
91 They continue euen to this day by thine ordinances: for all are thy seruants.
En naar uw voorschriften blijven ze ook nu nog bestaan, Want het heelal is uw dienstknecht!
92 Except thy Lawe had bene my delite, I should now haue perished in mine affliction.
Wanneer uw wet mij niet had verkwikt, Dan was ik in mijn ellende te gronde gegaan;
93 I wil neuer forget thy precepts: for by them thou hast quickened me.
Nimmer zal ik dan uw bevelen vergeten, Want juist daardoor doet Gij mij leven.
94 I am thine, saue me: for I haue sought thy precepts.
Ik ben de uwe: Ach, kom mij te hulp, Want ijverig spoor ik uw voorschriften na;
95 The wicked haue waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.
De bozen loeren, om mij te verdelgen, Maar ik blijf uw vermaningen achten.
96 I haue seene an ende of all perfection: but thy commandement is exceeding large.
Aan alles zie ik een eind, al is het nog zo volmaakt, Maar uw gebod is onbegrensd!
97 MEM. Oh howe loue I thy Lawe! it is my meditation continually.
Hoe lief toch heb ik uw wet, Ik overweeg ze de hele dag door!
98 By thy commandements thou hast made mee wiser then mine enemies: for they are euer with mee.
Uw gebod maakt mij wijzer dan mijn vijanden zijn, Want het vergezelt mij voor eeuwig;
99 I haue had more vnderstading then all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my (meditation)
Ik heb meer verstand dan al mijn meesters, Want ik denk over uw vermaningen na;
100 I vnderstoode more then the ancient, because I kept thy precepts.
En ik heb helderder inzicht dan de oudsten, Want ik neem uw bevelen in acht.
101 I haue refrained my feete from euery euil way, that I might keepe thy word.
Van alle slechte paden houd ik mijn voeten, Om uw woord te volbrengen;
102 I haue not declined from thy iudgements: for thou didest teach me.
En van uw voorschriften wijk ik niet af, Want Gij hebt ze mij zelf onderwezen.
103 Howe sweete are thy promises vnto my mouth! yea, more then hony vnto my mouth.
Hoe zoet voor mijn gehemelte is uw bestel, Meer dan honing voor mijn mond;
104 By thy precepts I haue gotten vnderstanding: therefore I hate all the wayes of falshoode.
Door uw inzettingen ben ik verstandig geworden, En haat dus ieder leugenpad.
105 NUN. Thy worde is a lanterne vnto my feete, and a light vnto my path.
Uw woord is een lamp voor mijn voeten, En een licht op mijn pad;
106 I haue sworne and will performe it, that I will keepe thy righteous iudgements.
Ik heb gezworen, en zal het gestand doen, Uw rechtvaardige voorschriften te onderhouden.
107 I am very sore afflicted: O Lord, quicken me according to thy word.
Ach, Jahweh, ik ga zo diep gebukt, Wek mij ten leven naar uw bestel;
108 O Lord, I beseeche thee accept the free offerings of my mouth, and teach mee thy iudgements.
Wil de offeranden van mijn mond aanvaarden, o Jahweh, En onderricht mij in uw geboden.
109 My soule is continually in mine hande: yet doe I not forget thy Lawe.
Al zweeft mijn leven in voortdurend gevaar, Toch vergeet ik nimmer uw wet;
110 The wicked haue layed a snare for mee: but I swarued not from thy precepts.
En al leggen de bozen mij strikken, Van al uw bevelen wijk ik niet af.
111 Thy testimonies haue I taken as an heritage for euer: for they are the ioy of mine heart.
Uw vermaningen blijven mijn erfdeel voor eeuwig, Want ze zijn de vreugd van mijn hart;
112 I haue applied mine heart to fulfill thy statutes alway, euen vnto the ende.
En ik heb er mijn hart op gezet, Naar uw inzettingen te leven voor eeuwig en immer!
113 SAMECH. I hate vaine inuentions: but thy Lawe doe I loue.
Ik haat halfslachtige wezens, Maar uw wet heb ik lief;
114 Thou art my refuge and shield, and I trust in thy worde.
Gij zijt mijn schuts en mijn schild, Ik vertrouw op uw woord;
115 Away from mee, yee wicked: for I will keepe the commandements of my God.
Weg van mij, zondaars, Laat mij de geboden van mijn God onderhouden!
116 Stablish me according to thy promise, that I may liue, and disappoint me not of mine hope.
Sterk mij naar uw bestel, opdat ik blijf leven, En laat mijn hoop niet worden beschaamd;
117 Stay thou mee, and I shall be safe, and I will delite continually in thy statutes.
Stut mij, opdat ik worde gered, En mij altijd aan uw bevelen verkwikke.
118 Thou hast troden downe all them that depart from thy statutes: for their deceit is vaine.
Wie uw inzettingen verlaten, zijn U een gruwel, Want ze bedenken enkel leugens;
119 Thou hast taken away all ye wicked of the earth like drosse: therefore I loue thy testimonies.
En als afval veracht Gij alle bozen op aarde, Daarom heb ik uw vermaningen lief.
120 My flesh trembleth for feare of thee, and I am afraide of thy iudgements.
Mijn lichaam beeft voor U van schrik, En ik ben bevreesd voor uw oordeel!
121 AIN. I haue executed iudgement and iustice: leaue me not to mine oppressours.
Een rechtvaardig oordeel hebt Gij geveld, Lever mij niet over aan mijn verdrukkers;
122 Answere for thy seruant in that, which is good, and let not the proude oppresse me.
Uw woord blijve borg voor uw dienaar, Laat geen onbeschaamde mij kwellen.
123 Mine eyes haue failed in waiting for thy saluation, and for thy iust promise.
Mijn ogen smachten naar uw heil, En naar uw rechtvaardig bestel;
124 Deale with thy seruant according to thy mercie, and teache me thy statutes.
Handel met uw dienstknecht naar uw genade, En leer mij uw inzettingen kennen;
125 I am thy seruant: graunt mee therefore vnderstanding, that I may knowe thy testimonies.
Ik ben uw dienstknecht: ach, geef mij verstand, Opdat ik uw vermaningen moge begrijpen.
126 It is time for thee Lord to worke: for they haue destroyed thy Lawe.
Het is tijd om te handelen, Jahweh: Men verkracht uw wet;
127 Therefore loue I thy commandements aboue golde, yea, aboue most fine golde.
Daarom heb ik uw geboden lief, Boven goud en edel metaal;
128 Therefore I esteeme all thy precepts most iust, and hate all false wayes.
Daarom richt ik mij naar al uw bevelen, En haat ik ieder leugenpad.
129 PE. Thy testimonies are wonderfull: therefore doeth my soule keepe them.
Uw vermaningen zijn wondervol, Mijn ziel neemt ze daarom in acht;
130 The entrance into thy wordes sheweth light, and giueth vnderstanding to the simple.
De openbaring van uw woord straalt licht van zich uit, En geeft wijsheid aan de eenvoudigen;
131 I opened my mouth and panted, because I loued thy commandements.
En smachtend open ik mijn mond, Want ik hunker naar uw geboden.
132 Looke vpon mee and bee mercifull vnto me, as thou vsest to doe vnto those that loue thy Name.
Keer U tot mij, en wees mij genadig, Naar uw beschikking voor hen, die uw Naam beminnen;
133 Direct my steppes in thy worde, and let none iniquitie haue dominion ouer me.
Richt mijn schreden naar uw bestel, En laat geen onheil mij treffen.
134 Deliuer mee from the oppression of men, and I will keepe thy precepts.
Bevrijd mij van de verdrukking der mensen, Opdat ik trouw uw bevelen volbrenge;
135 Shew the light of thy countenance vpon thy seruant, and teache me thy statutes.
Laat uw aangezicht stralen over uw dienstknecht, En leer mij uw inzettingen kennen.
136 Mine eyes gush out with riuers of water, because they keepe not thy Lawe.
Stromen van tranen ontwellen mijn ogen, Omdat men uw wet niet beleeft.
137 TSADDI. Righteous art thou, O Lord, and iust are thy iudgements.
Rechtvaardig zijt Gij, o Jahweh, En ook uw voorschriften zijn volgens recht;
138 Thou hast commanded iustice by thy testimonies and trueth especially.
In gerechtigheid hebt Gij uw vermaningen gegeven, En in volledige trouw.
139 My zeale hath euen consumed mee, because mine enemies haue forgotten thy wordes.
Ik word door ergernis verteerd, Omdat mijn vijanden uw woord vergeten;
140 Thy word is prooued most pure, and thy seruant loueth it.
Maar uw bestel is beproefd als in vuur, En uw dienstknecht heeft het lief;
141 I am small and despised: yet do I not forget thy precepts.
En al ben ik maar klein en gering, Nooit wil ik uw bevelen vergeten.
142 Thy righteousnesse is an euerlasting righteousnes, and thy Lawe is trueth.
Ongerept blijft uw gerechtigheid voor eeuwig en immer, En waarachtig uw wet;
143 Trouble and anguish are come vpon me: yet are thy commandements my delite.
Al treffen mij nood en ellende, Uw geboden zijn mijn verkwikking.
144 The righteousnes of thy testimonies is euerlasting: graunt me vnderstanding, and I shall liue.
Uw inzettingen zijn rechtvaardig voor eeuwig; Onderricht mij er in, opdat ik blijf leven!
145 KOPH. I haue cried with my whole heart: heare me, O Lord, and I will keepe thy statutes.
Ik roep met heel mijn hart: Jahweh verhoor mij! Uw inzettingen wil ik trouw onderhouden;
146 I called vpon thee: saue mee, and I will keepe thy testimonies.
Ik roep U aan: ach, kom mij te hulp, Om uw vermaningen te beleven.
147 I preuented the morning light, and cried: for I waited on thy word.
Ik ben met mijn smeken de dageraad vóór, Want ik smacht naar uw woord;
148 Mine eyes preuent the night watches to meditate in thy word.
En mijn ogen voorkomen de nachtwake, Om op te zien naar uw bestel.
149 Heare my voyce according to thy louing kindenesse: O Lord, quicken me according to thy iudgement.
Hoor in uw goedheid mijn smeken, o Jahweh, En wek mij naar uw beschikking ten leven;
150 They drawe neere, that follow after malice, and are farre from thy Lawe.
Mijn listige vervolgers zijn al nabij, Maar ze houden zich ver van uw wet;
151 Thou art neere, O Lord: for all thy commandements are true.
Maar Gij ook, Jahweh, zijt nabij, En waarachtig zijn al uw geboden;
152 I haue knowen long since by thy testimonies, that thou hast established them for euer.
Van oudsher ken ik uw bevelen, Want Gij hebt ze gegeven voor eeuwig!
153 RESH. Beholde mine affliction, and deliuer mee: for I haue not forgotten thy Lawe.
Aanschouw mijn ellende, en kom mij te hulp, Want nooit vergeet ik uw wet;
154 Pleade my cause, and deliuer me: quicken me according vnto thy word.
Wees mijn verdediger en mijn beschermer, En doe mij leven naar uw bestel.
155 Saluation is farre from the wicked, because they seeke not thy statutes.
Het heil blijft ver van de bozen verwijderd, Want ze zoeken uw inzettingen niet;
156 Great are thy tender mercies, O Lord: quicken me according to thy iudgements.
Maar uw barmhartigheid, Jahweh, is groot, Wek mij ten leven naar uw woord.
157 My persecutours and mine oppressours are many: yet doe I not swarue from thy testimonies.
Al zijn mijn vervolgers en vijanden talrijk, Van uw vermaningen wijk ik niet af;
158 I saw the transgressours and was grieued, because they kept not thy worde.
Het walgt mij, als ik trouwelozen aanschouw, Die uw geboden niet willen volbrengen.
159 Consider, O Lord, how I loue thy preceptes: quicken mee according to thy louing kindenesse.
Zie, hoe ik uw bevelen liefheb, o Jahweh, Laat mij dan leven naar uw genade;
160 The beginning of thy worde is trueth, and all the iudgements of thy righteousnesse endure for euer.
Uw woord is een en al waarheid, En eeuwig houden al uw rechtvaardige voorschriften stand.
161 SCHIN. Princes haue persecuted mee without cause, but mine heart stood in awe of thy wordes.
Vorsten vervolgen mij zonder enige grond, Maar mijn hart is enkel beducht voor uw woord.
162 I reioyce at thy worde, as one that findeth a great spoyle.
Ik verheug mij over uw bestel, Als iemand, die rijke buit heeft gemaakt;
163 I hate falshoode and abhorre it, but thy Lawe doe I loue.
Leugen en haat verfoei ik, Maar uw inzettingen heb ik lief.
164 Seuen times a day doe I praise thee, because of thy righteous iudgements.
Zeven maal daags zing ik uw lof, Om uw rechtvaardige voorschriften;
165 They that loue thy Law, shall haue great prosperitie, and they shall haue none hurt.
Die uw wet beminnen, genieten een heerlijke vrede, En struikelen nooit.
166 Lord, I haue trusted in thy saluation, and haue done thy commandements.
Jahweh, ik smacht naar uw heil, En onderhoud uw geboden;
167 My soule hath kept thy testimonies: for I loue them exceedingly.
Ik volg uw vermaningen op, En bemin ze van harte;
168 I haue kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my wayes are before thee.
Ik volbreng uw bevelen, Ja, heel mijn leven ligt voor U bloot!
169 TAV. Let my complaint come before thee, O Lord, and giue me vnderstanding, according vnto thy worde.
Jahweh, mijn smeken dringe tot U door, Geef mij inzicht naar uw woord;
170 Let my supplication come before thee, and deliuer me according to thy promise.
Moge mijn gebed voor uw aangezicht komen, Breng mij redding naar uw bestel.
171 My lippes shall speake praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
Dan zal een lofzang mijn lippen ontstromen, Omdat Gij uw inzettingen mij hebt geleerd;
172 My tongue shall intreate of thy word: for all thy commandements are righteous.
En mijn tong zal uw waarachtigheid loven, Want al uw vermaningen zijn gerecht.
173 Let thine hand helpe me: for I haue chosen thy precepts.
Uw hand zij bereid, mij te helpen, Want uw bevelen heb ik verkoren;
174 I haue longed for thy saluation, O Lord, and thy Lawe is my delite.
Jahweh, ik smacht naar uw heil, En uw wet is mij een verkwikking.
175 Let my soule liue, and it shall praise thee, and thy iudgements shall helpe me.
Mijn ziel moge leven, om U te loven, En uw voorschriften mogen mij helpen;
176 I haue gone astraye like a lost sheepe: seeke thy seruant, for I doe not forget thy commandements.
Als een verloren schaap dool ik rond: zoek uw dienaar weer op, Want nimmer heb ik uw geboden vergeten!
