Philippians 3
1 Moreouer, my brethren, reioyce in the Lord. It grieueth mee not to write the same things to you, and for you it is a sure thing.
Au reste, mes frères, réjouissez-vous dans le Seigneur. Vous écrire les mêmes choses n’est pas pénible pour moi, mais c’est nécessaire pour vous.
2 Beware of dogges: beware of euil workers: beware of the concision.
Gardez-vous des chiens, gardez-vous des mauvais ouvriers, gardez-vous de la mutilation.
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirite, and reioyce in Christ Iesus, and haue no confidence in the flesh:
Car c’est nous qui sommes la circoncision, nous qui servons Dieu en esprit, qui nous glorifions dans le Christ Jésus, et ne mettons pas notre confiance dans la chair.
4 Though I might also haue confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, much more I,
Quoique j’aie moi aussi de quoi me confier dans la chair; si quelqu’un croit pouvoir se confier dans la chair, je le puis davantage, moi,
5 Circumcised the eight day, of the kinred of Israel, of the tribe of Beniamin, an Ebrewe of the Ebrewes, by the Lawe a Pharise.
Circoncis le huitième jour, moi de la race d’Israël, de la tribu de Benjamin, Hébreu de pères hébreux; quant à la loi, pharisien;
6 Concerning zeale, I persecuted ye Church: touching the righteousnesse which is in the Law, I was vnrebukeable.
Quant au zèle, persécutant l’Eglise de Dieu; quant à la justice de la loi, ayant vécu sans reproche.
7 But the thinges that were vantage vnto me, the same I counted losse for Christes sake.
Mais ce qui était un gain pour moi, je l’ai jugé perte à cause du Christ.
8 Yea, doubtlesse I thinke all thinges but losse for the excellent knowledge sake of Christ Iesus my Lord, for whome I haue counted all things losse, and doe iudge them to bee dongue, that I might winne Christ,
Bien plus, j’estime que tout est perte, auprès de l’éminente connaissance de Jésus-Christ Notre Seigneur, pour qui je me suis dépouillé de toutes choses, et je les regarde comme du fumier, afin de gagner le Christ,
9 And might bee founde in him, that is, not hauing mine owne righteousnesse, which is of the Lawe, but that which is through the faith of Christ, euen the righteousnesse which is of God through faith,
Et d’être trouvé en lui possédant non ma propre justice qui vient de la loi, mais celle qui vient de la foi dans le Christ Jésus, la justice qui vient de Dieu par la foi,
10 That I may know him, and the vertue of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his afflictions, and be made conformable vnto his death,
Pour le connaître ainsi que la vertu de sa résurrection, et la participation de ses souffrances; m’étant conformé à sa mort;
11 If by any meanes I might attaine vnto the resurrection of the dead:
Afin que je puisse parvenir de quelque manière à la résurrection d’entre les morts;
12 Not as though I had alreadie attained to it, either were alreadie perfect: but I follow, if that I may comprehend that for whose sake also I am comprehended of Christ Iesus.
Non que déjà j’aie atteint jusque-là, ou que déjà je sois parfait; mais je poursuis, pour atteindre de quelque manière le but auquel j’ai été destiné par le Seigneur Jésus.
13 Brethren, I count not my selfe, that I haue attained to it, but one thing I doe: I forget that which is behinde, and endeuour my selfe vnto that which is before,
Non, mes frères, je ne pense pas l’avoir atteint. Mais seulement, oubliant ce qui est en arrière, et m’avançant vers ce qui est devant,
14 And follow hard toward the marke, for the prise of the hie calling of God in Christ Iesus.
Je tends au terme, au prix de la vocation céleste de Dieu dans le Christ Jésus.
15 Let vs therefore as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if yee be otherwise minded, God shall reueile euen the same vnto you.
Ainsi, tant que nous sommes parfaits, ayons ce sentiment, et si vous en avez quelqu’autre, Dieu vous éclairera sur celui-là aussi.
16 Neuerthelesse, in that whereunto wee are come, let vs proceede by one rule, that wee may minde one thing.
Cependant, par rapport à ce que nous connaissons, ayons les mêmes sentiments, et persévérons dans la même règle.
17 Brethren, bee followers of mee, and looke on them, which walke so, as yee haue vs for an ensample.
Mes frères, soyez mes imitateurs, et observez ceux qui marchent selon le modèle que vous avez en nous.
18 For many walke, of whom I haue told you often, and nowe tell you weeping, that they are the enemies of the Crosse of Christ:
Car il y en a beaucoup dont je vous ai souvent parlé (et je vous en parle encore avec larmes), qui marchent en ennemis de la croix du Christ;
19 Whose ende is damnation, whose God is their bellie, and whose glorie is to their shame, which minde earthly things.
Dont la fin sera la perdition, dont le Dieu est le ventre, qui mettent leur gloire dans leur ignominie, et qui n’ont de goût que pour les choses de la terre.
20 But our conuersation is in heauen, from whence also we looke for the Sauiour, euen the Lord Iesus Christ,
Pour nous, notre vie est dans les cieux: c’est de là aussi que nous attendons le Sauveur, Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
21 Who shall change our vile bodie, that it may be fashioned like vnto his glorious body, according to the working, whereby hee is able euen to subdue all things vnto him selfe.
Qui réformera le corps de notre humilité en le conformant à son corps glorieux, par cette vertu efficace, par laquelle il peut s’assujettir toutes choses.
