Nehemiah 8
1 And all the people assembled themselues together, in the streete that was before the watergate, and they spake vnto Ezra the Scribe, that hee would bring the booke of ye Law of Moses, which the Lord had commanded to Israel.
Und als der siebte Monat herankam und die Kinder Israel in ihren Städten waren, da versammelte sich das ganze Volk wie ein Mann auf dem Platze, der vor dem Wassertore liegt. Und sie sprachen zu Esra, dem Schriftgelehrten, daß er das Buch des Gesetzes Moses bringen sollte, welches Jehova Israel geboten hatte.
2 And Ezra the Priest brought the Lawe before the Congregation both of men and women, and of all that coulde heare and vnderstand it, in the first day of the seuenth moneth,
Und am ersten Tage des siebten Monats brachte Esra, der Priester, das Gesetz vor die Versammlung, sowohl der Männer als der Weiber, und vor alle, die Verständnis hatten, um zuzuhören.
3 And he read therein in the streete that was before the watergate (from the morning vntill the midday) before men and women, and them that vnderstoode it, and the eares of all the people hearkened vnto the booke of the Lawe.
Und er las darin vor dem Platze, der vor dem Wassertore liegt, vom lichten Morgen bis zum Mittag, in Gegenwart der Männer und der Weiber und derer, die Verständnis hatten; und die Ohren des ganzen Volkes waren auf das Buch des Gesetzes gerichtet.
4 And Ezra the Scribe stoode vpon a pulpit of wood which he had made for the preaching, and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Ananiah, and Vriiah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hande, and on his left hand Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
Und Esra, der Schriftgelehrte, stand auf einem Gerüst von Holz, welches man zu diesem Zwecke gemacht hatte. Und neben ihm standen Mattithja und Schema und Anaja und Urija [And. l.: Anaja, Asarja und Urija] und Hilkija und Maaseja, zu seiner Rechten; und zu seiner Linken Pedaja und Mischael und Malkija und Haschum und Haschbaddana, Sekarja, Meschullam.
5 And Ezra opened the booke before all the people: for hee was aboue all the people: and when he opened it, all the people stoode vp.
Und Esra öffnete das Buch vor den Augen des ganzen Volkes, denn er ragte über dem ganzen Volke empor; und als er es öffnete, stand das ganze Volk auf.
6 And Ezra praysed the Lord the great God, and all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting vp their handes: and they bowed themselues, and worshipped the Lord with their faces toward the grounde.
Und Esra pries Jehova, den großen Gott, und das ganze Volk antwortete: Amen, Amen! indem sie ihre Hände emporhoben und sich verneigten und vor Jehova niederwarfen, mit dem Antlitz zur Erde.
7 Also Ieshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Iamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Iozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Leuites caused the people to vnderstand the lawe, and the people stood in their place.
Und Jeschua und Bani und Scherebja, Jamin, Akkub, Schabbethai, Hodija, Maaseja, Kelita, Asarja, Josabad, Hanan, Pelaja und die Leviten [And. l.: Pelaja, die Leviten] belehrten das Volk über das Gesetz; und das Volk stand auf seiner Stelle.
8 And they read in the booke of the Lawe of God distinctly, and gaue the sense, and caused them to vnderstand the reading.
Und sie lasen in dem Buche, in dem Gesetz Gottes, deutlich, und gaben den Sinn an, so daß man das Gelesene verstand. [And. üb.: und machten das Gelesene verständlich]
9 Then Nehemiah (which is Tirshatha) and Ezra the Priest and scribe, and the Leuites that instructed the people, saide vnto all the people, This day is holie vnto ye Lord your God: mourne not, neither weepe: for all the people wept, whe they heard the words of the Lawe.
Und Nehemia, das ist der Tirsatha, und Esra, der Priester, der Schriftgelehrte, und die Leviten, welche das Volk belehrten, sprachen zu dem ganzen Volke: Dieser Tag ist Jehova, eurem Gott, heilig; seid nicht traurig und weinet nicht! [Denn das ganze Volk weinte, als es die Worte des Gesetzes hörte.]
10 He saide also vnto the, Go, and eate of the fat, and drinke the sweete, and send part vnto them, for whome none is prepared: for this day is holie vnto our Lord: be ye not sorie therefore: for the ioy of the Lord is your strength.
Und er sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hin, esset Fettes und trinket Süßes, und sendet Teile [d. h. Portionen, Gerichte] denen, für welche nichts zubereitet ist; denn der Tag ist unserem Herrn heilig; und betrübet euch nicht, denn die Freude an Jehova ist eure Stärke. [Eig. Feste, Schutzwehr]
11 And the Leuites made silence throughout all the people, saying, Holde your peace: for the day is holy, be not sad therefore.
Und die Leviten beschwichtigten das ganze Volk, indem sie sprachen: Seid stille, denn der Tag ist heilig; und betrübet euch nicht!
12 Then all the people went to eate and to drinke, and to send away part, and to make great ioy, because they had vnderstand the wordes that they had taught them.
Und das ganze Volk ging hin, um zu essen und zu trinken und Teile zu senden und ein großes Freudenfest [Eig. eine große Freude] zu begehen. Denn sie hatten die Worte verstanden, die man ihnen kundgetan hatte.
13 And on the second day the chiefe fathers of all the people, the Priests and the Leuites were gathered vnto Ezra the scribe, that he also might instruct them in the wordes of the Lawe.
Und am zweiten Tage versammelten sich die Häupter der Väter [d. h. die Stamm- oder Familienhäupter] des ganzen Volkes, die Priester und die Leviten, zu Esra, dem Schriftgelehrten, und zwar um aufzumerken auf die Worte des Gesetzes.
14 And they found written in the Law, (that the Lord had commanded by Moses) that the children of Israel should dwel in boothes in the feast of the seuenth moneth,
Und sie fanden im Gesetz geschrieben, daß Jehova durch Mose geboten hatte, daß die Kinder Israel am Feste im siebten Monat in Laubhütten [Eig. Hütten] wohnen sollten,
15 And that they shoulde cause it to bee declared and proclaimed in all their cities, and in Ierusalem, saying, Go forth vnto the mount, and bring oliue branches, and pine branches, and branches of myrtus, and palme branches, and branches of thicke trees, to make boothes, as it is written.
und daß sie verkündigen und einen Ruf ergehen lassen sollten durch alle ihre Städte und durch Jerusalem, und sagen: Gehet hinaus auf das Gebirge und holet Zweige vom Olivenbaum und Zweige vom wilden Ölbaum und Myrtenzweige und Palmzweige und Zweige von dichtbelaubten Bäumen, um Hütten zu machen, wie geschrieben steht!
16 So the people went foorth and brought them, and made them boothes, euerie one vpon the roofe of his house, and in their courtes, and in the courtes of the house of God, and in the streete by the watergate, and in the streete of the gate of Ephraim.
Und das Volk ging hinaus und holte herbei; und sie machten sich Hütten, ein jeder auf seinem Dache und in ihren Höfen, und in den Höfen des Hauses Gottes, und auf dem Platze am Wassertore, und auf dem Platze am Tore Ephraim.
17 And all the Congregation of them that were come againe out of the captiuitie made boothes, and sate vnder the boothes: for since the time of Ieshua the sonne of Nun vnto this day, had not the children of Israel done so, and there was very great ioy.
Und die ganze Versammlung, die aus der Gefangenschaft zurückgekehrt war, machte Hütten und wohnte in den Hütten. Denn die Kinder Israel hatten nicht also getan seit den Tagen Josuas, [Hebr. Jeschua] des Sohnes Nuns, bis auf jenen Tag. Und es war eine sehr große Freude.
18 And he read in the booke of the Lawe of God euery day, from the first day vnto the last day. and they kept the feast seuen dayes, and on the eight day a solemne assemblie, according vnto the maner.
Und man las in dem Buche des Gesetzes Gottes Tag für Tag, vom ersten Tage bis zum letzten Tage. Und sie feierten das Fest sieben Tage lang; und am achten Tage war eine Festversammlung nach der Vorschrift.
