Nehemiah 1
1 The words of Nehemiah the sonne of Hachaliah. In ye moneth Chisleu, in the twentieth yeere, as I was in the palace of Shushan,
As palavras de Nehemias, filho de Hacalias. E sucedeu no mês de chisleu, no ano vigésimo, estando eu em Susan, a fortaleza,
2 Came Hanam, one of my brethren, he and the men of Iudah, and I asked them concerning the Iewes that were deliuered, which were of the residue of the captiuitie, and concerning Ierusalem.
Que veio Hanani, um de meus irmãos, ele e alguns de Judá; e perguntei-lhes pelos judeus que escaparam, e que restaram do cativeiro, e acerca de Jerusalém.
3 And they sayde vnto me, The residue that are left of the captiuitie there in the prouince, are in great affliction and in reproche, and the wall of Ierusalem is broken downe, and the gates thereof are burnt with fire.
E disseram-me: Os restantes, que restaram do cativeiro, lá na província estão em grande miséria e desprezo: e o muro de Jerusalém fendido, e as suas portas queimadas a fogo.
4 And when I heard these wordes, I sate downe and wept, and mourned certeine dayes, and I fasted and prayed before the God of heauen,
E sucedeu que, ouvindo eu estas palavras, assentei-me e chorei, e lamentei por alguns dias: e estive jejuando e orando perante o Deus dos céus.
5 And sayde, O Lord God of heauen, the great and terrible God, that keepeth couenant and mercy for them that loue him, and obserue his commandements,
E disse: Ah Senhor, Deus dos céus, Deus grande e terrível! que guarda o concerto e a benignidade para com aqueles que o amam e guardam os seus mandamentos;
6 I pray thee, let thine eares be attet, and thine eies open, to heare the praier of thy seruat, which I pray before thee dayly, day and night for ye childre of Israel thy seruats, and confesse the sinnes of the children of Israel, which we haue sinned against thee, both I and my fathers house haue sinned:
Estejam pois atentos os teus ouvidos, e os teus olhos abertos, para ouvires a oração do teu servo, que eu hoje oro perante ti, de dia e de noite, pelos filhos de Israel, teus servos: e faço confissão pelos pecados dos filhos de Israel, que pecamos contra ti; também eu e a casa de meu pai pecamos.
7 We haue grieuously sinned against thee, and haue not kept the commandements, nor the statutes, nor the iudgements, which thou commandedst thy seruant Moses.
De todo nos corrompemos contra ti, e não guardamos os mandamentos, nem os estatutos, nem os juízos, que ordenaste a Moisés teu servo.
8 I beseeche thee, remember the worde that thou commandedst thy seruant Moses, saying, Ye wil transgresse, and I will scatter you abroade among the people.
Lembra-te pois da palavra que ordenaste a Moisés, teu servo, dizendo: Vós transgredireis, e eu vos espalharei entre os povos.
9 But if ye turne vnto me, and keepe my commandements, and doe them, though your scattering were to the vttermost part of the heauen, yet will I gather you from thence, and will bring you vnto the place that I haue chosen to place my Name there.
E vós vos convertereis a mim, e guardareis os meus mandamentos, e os fareis: então, ainda que os vossos rejeitados estiverem no cabo do céu, de lá os ajuntarei e os trarei ao lugar que tenho escolhido para ali fazer habitar o meu nome.
10 Now these are thy seruants and thy people, whome thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy mightie hand.
Ainda são teus servos e o teu povo que resgataste com a tua grande força e com a tua forte mão.
11 O Lord, I beseech thee, let thine eare now hearken to the prayer of thy seruant, and to the prayer of thy seruants, who desire to feare thy Name, and I pray thee, cause thy seruant to prosper this day, and giue him fauour in the presence of this man: for I was the Kings butler.
Ah, Senhor, estejam pois atentos os teus ouvidos à oração do teu servo, e à oração dos teus servos que desejam temer o teu nome; e faze prosperar hoje o teu servo, e dá-lhe graça perante este homem. Então era eu copeiro do rei.
