Nehemiah 1
1 The words of Nehemiah the sonne of Hachaliah. In ye moneth Chisleu, in the twentieth yeere, as I was in the palace of Shushan,
Dies sind die Geschichten Nehemias, des Sohns Hachaljas. Es geschah im Monden Chisleu des zwanzigsten Jahrs, daß ich war zu Susan auf dem Schloß,
2 Came Hanam, one of my brethren, he and the men of Iudah, and I asked them concerning the Iewes that were deliuered, which were of the residue of the captiuitie, and concerning Ierusalem.
da kam Hanani, einer meiner Brüder, mit etlichen Männern aus Juda. Und ich fragte sie, wie es den Juden ginge, die errettet und übrig waren von dem Gefängnis, und wie es zu Jerusalem ginge?
3 And they sayde vnto me, The residue that are left of the captiuitie there in the prouince, are in great affliction and in reproche, and the wall of Ierusalem is broken downe, and the gates thereof are burnt with fire.
Und sie sprachen zu mir: Die übrigen von dem Gefängnis sind daselbst im Lande in großem Unglück und Schmach; die Mauern Jerusalems sind zerbrochen und ihre Tore mit Feuer verbrannt.
4 And when I heard these wordes, I sate downe and wept, and mourned certeine dayes, and I fasted and prayed before the God of heauen,
Da ich aber solche Worte hörete, saß ich und weinete und trug Leid zween Tage; und fastete und betete vor dem Gott vom Himmel
5 And sayde, O Lord God of heauen, the great and terrible God, that keepeth couenant and mercy for them that loue him, and obserue his commandements,
und sprach: Ach, HERR, Gott vom Himmel, großer und schrecklicher Gott, der da hält den Bund und Barmherzigkeit denen, die ihn lieben und seine Gebote halten,
6 I pray thee, let thine eares be attet, and thine eies open, to heare the praier of thy seruat, which I pray before thee dayly, day and night for ye childre of Israel thy seruats, and confesse the sinnes of the children of Israel, which we haue sinned against thee, both I and my fathers house haue sinned:
laß doch deine Ohren aufmerken und deine Augen offen sein, daß du hörest das Gebet deines Knechts, das ich nun vor dir bete Tag und Nacht für die Kinder Israel, deine Knechte, und bekenne die Sünden der Kinder Israel, die wir an dir getan haben; und ich und meines Vaters Haus haben auch gesündiget.
7 We haue grieuously sinned against thee, and haue not kept the commandements, nor the statutes, nor the iudgements, which thou commandedst thy seruant Moses.
Wir sind verrückt worden, daß wir nicht gehalten haben die Gebote, Befehle und Rechte, die du geboten hast deinem Knechte Mose.
8 I beseeche thee, remember the worde that thou commandedst thy seruant Moses, saying, Ye wil transgresse, and I will scatter you abroade among the people.
Gedenke aber doch des Worts, das du deinem Knechte Mose gebotest und sprachest: Wenn ihr euch vergreifet, so will ich euch unter die Völker streuen.
9 But if ye turne vnto me, and keepe my commandements, and doe them, though your scattering were to the vttermost part of the heauen, yet will I gather you from thence, and will bring you vnto the place that I haue chosen to place my Name there.
Wo ihr euch aber bekehret zu mir und haltet meine Gebote und tut sie, und ob ihr verstoßen wäret bis an der Himmel Ende, so will ich euch doch von dannen versammeln und will euch bringen an den Ort, den ich erwählet habe, daß mein Name daselbst wohne.
10 Now these are thy seruants and thy people, whome thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy mightie hand.
Sie sind doch ja deine Knechte und dein Volk, die du erlöset hast durch deine große Kraft und mächtige Hand.
11 O Lord, I beseech thee, let thine eare now hearken to the prayer of thy seruant, and to the prayer of thy seruants, who desire to feare thy Name, and I pray thee, cause thy seruant to prosper this day, and giue him fauour in the presence of this man: for I was the Kings butler.
Ach, HERR, laß deine Ohren aufmerken auf das Gebet deines Knechts und auf das Gebet deiner Knechte, die da begehren, deinen Namen zu fürchten; und. laß deinem Knechte heute gelingen und gib ihm Barmherzigkeit vor diesem Manne! Denn ich war des Königs Schenke.
