Matthew 11
1 And it came to passe that when Iesus had made an ende of commaunding his twelue disciples, hee departed thence to teache and to preach in their cities.
E, aconteceu que, acabando Jesus de dar seus preceitos aos seus doze discípulos, partiu dali a ensinar e a pregar nas cidades deles.
2 And when Iohn heard in the prison the woorkes of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and sayde vnto him,
E João, ouvindo, no cárcere, falar dos feitos de Cristo, enviou dois dos seus discípulos,
3 Art thou he that shoulde come, or shall we looke for another?
Dizendo-lhe: És tu aquele que havia de vir, ou esperamos outro?
4 And Iesus answering, said vnto them, Goe, and shewe Iohn, what things ye heare, and see.
E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhes: Ide, e anunciai a João as coisas que ouvis e vêdes:
5 The blinde receiue sight, and the halt doe walke: the lepers are clensed, and the deafe heare, the dead are raised vp, and the poore receiue the Gospel.
Os cegos veem, e os coxos andam; os leprosos são purificados, e os surdos ouvem; os mortos são resuscitados, e o evangelho é anunciado aos pobres.
6 And blessed is he that shall not be offeded in me.
E bem-aventurado é aquele que se não escandalizar em mim.
7 And as they departed, Iesus beganne to speake vnto the multitude, of Iohn, What went ye out into the wildernes to see? A reede shaken with the winde?
E, partindo eles, começou Jesus a dizer às turbas, a respeito de João: Que fostes ver no deserto? uma cana agitada pelo vento?
8 But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that weare soft clothing, are in Kings houses.
Ou que fostes vêr? um homem ricamente vestido? Os que trajam ricamente estão nas casas dos reis.
9 But what went ye out to see? A Prophet? Yea, I say vnto you, and more then a Prophet.
Ou então que fostes vêr? um profeta? sim, vos digo eu, e muito mais do que profeta:
10 For this is he of whom it is written, Beholde, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
Porque é este de quem está escrito: Eis que adiante da tua face envio o meu anjo, que preparará adiante de ti o teu caminho.
11 Verely I say vnto you, among them which are begotten of women, arose there not a greater then Iohn Baptist: notwithstanding, he that is the least in the kingdome of heauen, is greater then he.
Em verdade vos digo que, entre os que de mulheres tem nascido, não apareceu alguém maior do que João Batista; mas aquele que é o menor no reino dos céus é maior do que ele
12 And from the time of Iohn Baptist hitherto, the kingdome of heauen suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
E, desde os dias de João Batista até agora, se faz violência ao reino dos céus, e os violentos se apoderam dele.
13 For all the Prophetes and the Lawe prophecied vnto Iohn.
Porque todos os profetas e a lei profetizaram até João.
14 And if ye will receiue it, this is that Elias, which was to come.
E, se quereis dar crédito, é este o Elias que havia de vir.
15 He that hath eares to heare, let him heare.
Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir ouça.
16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like vnto litle children which sit in the markets, and call vnto their fellowes,
Mas, a quem assemelharei esta geração? É semelhante aos meninos que se assentam nas praças, e clamam aos seus companheiros,
17 And say, We haue piped vnto you, and ye haue not daunced, we haue mourned vnto you, and ye haue not lamented.
E dizem: tocamos-vos flauta, e não dançastes: cantamos-vos lamentações, e não chorastes.
18 For Iohn came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a deuill.
Pois veio João, não comendo nem bebendo, e dizem: Tem demônio.
19 The sonne of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Beholde a glutton and a drinker of wine, a friend vnto Publicanes and sinners: but wisedome is iustified of her children.
Veio o Filho do homem, comendo e bebendo, e dizem: Eis ai um homem comilão e beberrão, amigo de publicanos e pecadores. Mas a sabedoria é justificada por seus filhos.
20 Then began he to vpbraide the cities, wherein most of his great workes were done, because they repented not.
Então começou ele a lançar em rosto às cidades onde se operou a maior parte dos seus prodígios o não se haverem arrependido, dizendo:
21 Woe be to thee, Chorazin: Woe be to thee, Bethsaida: for if ye great workes, which were done in you, had bene done in Tyrus and Sidon, they had repented long agone in sackecloth and ashes.
Ai de ti, Corazin! ai de ti, Betsaida! porque, se em Tiro e em Sidon fossem feitos os prodígios que em vós se fizeram, há muito que se teriam arrependido, com saco e com cinza.
22 But I say to you, It shalbe easier for Tyrus and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you.
Porém eu vos digo que haverá menos rigor para Tiro e Sidon, no dia do juízo, do que para vós.
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art lifted vp vnto heauen, shalt be brought downe to hell: for if the great workes, which haue bin done in thee, had bene done among them of Sodom, they had remained to this day. (Hadēs g86)
E tu, Cafarnaum, que te ergues até aos céus, serás abatida até aos infernos; porque, se entre os de Sodoma fossem feitos os prodígios que em ti se fizeram, teriam permanecido até hoje (Hadēs g86)
24 But I say vnto you, that it shall be easier for them of the land of Sodom in the day of iudgement, then for thee.
Porém eu vos digo que haverá menos rigor para os de Sodoma, no dia do juízo, do que para ti.
25 At that time Iesus answered, and saide, I giue thee thankes, O Father, Lord of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and men of vnderstanding, and hast opened them vnto babes.
Naquele tempo, respondendo Jesus, disse: Graças te dou, ó Pai, Senhor do céu e da terra, que ocultaste estas coisas aos sábios e inteligentes, e as revelaste aos meninos.
26 It is so, O Father, because thy good pleasure was such.
Sim, ó Pai, porque assim te aprouve.
27 All things are giuen vnto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Sonne, but ye Father: neither knoweth any man ye Father, but the Sonne, and he to whom ye Sonne will reueile him.
Todas as coisas me foram entregues por meu Pai: e ninguém conhece o Filho, senão o Pai; e ninguém conhece o Pai, senão o Filho, e aquele a quem o Filho o quizer revelar.
28 Come vnto me, all ye that are wearie and laden, and I will ease you.
Vinde a mim, todos os que estais cançados e oprimidos, e eu vos aliviarei.
29 Take my yoke on you, and learne of me that I am meeke and lowly in heart: and ye shall finde rest vnto your soules.
Tomai sobre vós o meu jugo, e aprendei de mim, que sou manso e humilde de coração; e encontrareis descanço para as vossas almas.
30 For my yoke is easie, and my burden light.
Porque o meu jugo é suave e o meu fardo é leve.
