Mark 6
1 And he departed thence, and came into his owne countrey, and his disciples followed him.
Étant parti de là, il s’en alla dans son pays, et ses disciples le suivirent.
2 And when the Sabbath was come, he began to teach in the Synagogue, and many that heard him, were astonied, and sayd, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdome is this that is giuen vnto him, that euen such great workes are done by his hands?
Or un jour de sabbat étant venu, il commença à enseigner dans la synagogue, et beaucoup, l’entendant, étaient dans l’admiration de sa doctrine, disant: D’où lui viennent toutes ces choses? quelle est cette sagesse qui lui a été donnée? et ces merveilles si surprenantes qui se font par ses mains?
3 Is not this that carpenter Maries sonne, the brother of Iames and Ioses, and of Iuda and Simon? and are not his sisters here with vs? And they were offended in him.
N’est-ce pas là ce charpentier, fils de Marie, frère de Jacques et de Joseph, de Jude et de Simon? et ses sœurs ne sont-elles pas ici parmi nous? Et ils se scandalisaient de lui.
4 Then Iesus sayd vnto them, A Prophet is not without honour, but in his owne countrey, and among his owne kindred, and in his own house.
Mais Jésus leur disait: Un prophète n’est sans honneur que dans sa patrie, dans sa maison et dans sa famille.
5 And he could there doe no great workes, saue that hee layd his hands vpon a fewe sicke folke, and healed them,
Et il ne put faire là aucun miracle, si ce n’est qu’il guérit quelques malades en leur imposant les mains.
6 And he marueiled at their vnbeliefe, and went about by ye townes on euery side, teaching.
Et il s’étonnait de leur incrédulité; il parcourait toutefois les villages d’alentour et il y enseignait.
7 And he called vnto him the twelue, and began to send them forth two and two, and gaue them power ouer vncleane spirits,
Or il appela les douze et commença à les envoyer deux à deux, et il leur donna puissance sur les esprits impurs.
8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their iourney, saue a staffe onely: neither scrip, neither bread, neither money in their girdles:
Et il leur commanda de ne rien prendre pour le chemin qu’un bâton: ni sac, ni pain, ni argent dans leur ceinture;
9 But that they should be shod with sandals, and that they should not put on two coates.
Mais de chausser leurs sandales et de ne point se munir de deux tuniques.
10 And he sayd vnto them, Wheresoeuer ye shall enter into an house, there abide till ye depart thence.
Et il leur dit: Quelque part que vous alliez, étant entrés dans une maison, demeurez-y jusqu’à ce que vous sortiez de ce lieu-là.
11 And whosoeuer shall not receiue you, nor heare you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust that is vnder your feete, for a witnes vnto them. Verely I say vnto you, It shalbe easier for Sodom, or Gomorrha at the day of iudgement, then for that citie.
Et quant à ceux qui ne vous recevront point et ne vous écouteront point, lorsque vous sortirez de là, secouez la poussière de vos pieds en témoignage contre eux.
12 And they went out, and preached, that men should amend their liues.
Etant donc partis, ils prêchaient qu’on fît pénitence;
13 And they cast out many deuils: and they anointed many that were sicke, with oyle, and healed them.
Chassaient beaucoup de démons, oignaient d’huile beaucoup de malades et les guérissaient.
14 Then King Herod heard of him (for his name was made manifest) and sayd, Iohn Baptist is risen againe from the dead, and therefore great workes are wrought by him.
Or le roi Hérode entendit parler de Jésus (car son nom s’était répandu), et il disait: Jean-Baptiste est ressuscité d’entre les morts, et c’est pour cela que des miracles s’opèrent par lui.
15 Other sayd, It is Elias, and some sayd, It is a Prophet, or as one of those Prophets.
Mais d’autres disaient: C’est Élie. Et d’autres: C’est un prophète, semblable à un des prophètes.
16 So when Herod heard it, he said, It is Iohn whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
Ce qu’ayant entendu, Hérode dit: Ce Jean que j’ai décapité est ressuscité d’entre les morts,
17 For Herod him selfe had sent forth, and had taken Iohn, and bound him in prison for Herodias sake, which was his brother Philippes wife, because he had maried her.
Car Hérode lui-même avait envoyé prendre Jean, et l’avait retenu, chargé de fers, en prison, à cause d’Hérodiade, qu’il avait épousée, quoique femme de Philippe, son frère.
18 For Iohn sayd vnto Herod, It is not lawfull for thee to haue thy brothers wife.
Parce que Jean disait à Hérode: Il ne t’est pas permis d’avoir la femme de ton frère.
19 Therefore Herodias layd waite against him, and would haue killed him, but she could not:
Or Hérodiade lui tendait des pièges, et voulait le faire périr; mais elle ne le pouvait pas.
20 For Herod feared Iohn, knowing that hee was a iust man, and an holy, and reuerenced him, and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
Hérode, en effet, craignait Jean, sachant que c’était un homme juste et saint; il le protégeait, faisait beaucoup de choses d’après ses avis, et l’écoutait volontiers.
21 But the time being conuenient, when Herod on his birth day made a banket to his princes and captaines, and chiefe estates of Galile:
Mais un jour opportun arriva, le jour de la naissance d’Hérode, où il fit un festin aux grands de sa cour, et aux tribuns, et aux principaux de la Galilée.
22 And the daughter of the same Herodias came in, and daunced, and pleased Herod, and them that sate at table together, the King sayd vnto the mayde, Aske of me what thou wilt, and I will giue it thee.
Or la fille d’Hérodiade même étant entrée, et ayant dansé et plu à Hérode, et à ceux qui étaient à table avec lui, le roi dit à la jeune fille: Demandez ce que vous voudrez, et je vous le donnerai.
23 And he sware vnto her, Whatsoeuer thou shalt aske of me, I will giue it thee, euen vnto the halfe of my kingdome.
Et il lui jura, disant: Tout ce que vous demanderez je vous le donnerai, fût-ce la moitié de mon royaume.
24 So she went forth, and said to her mother, What shall I aske? And she said, Iohn Baptists head.
Lorsqu’elle fut sortie, elle dit à sa mère: Que demanderai-je? Et sa mère répondit: La tête de Jean-Baptiste.
25 Then she came in straightway with haste vnto the King, and asked, saying, I would that thou shouldest giue me euen now in a charger the head of Iohn Baptist.
Aussitôt s’étant rendue en grande hâte près du roi, elle fit sa demande, disant: Je veux que vous me donniez à l’instant, dans un bassin, la tête de Jean-Baptiste.
26 Then the King was very sory: yet for his othes sake, and for their sakes which sate at table with him, he would not refuse her.
Le roi fut contristé; cependant, à cause de son serment, et à cause de ceux qui étaient à table avec lui, il ne voulut pas la contrarier.
27 And immediatly the King sent the hangman, and gaue charge that his head shoulde be brought in. So he went and beheaded him in the prison,
Aussi ayant envoyé un de ses gardes, il lui ordonna d’apporter la tête de Jean dans un bassin. Et le garde le décapita dans la prison;
28 And brought his head in a charger, and gaue it to the maide, and the maide gaue it to her mother.
Et apportant sa tête dans un bassin, il la donna à la jeune fille, et la jeune fille la donna à sa mère.
29 And when his disciples heard it, they came and tooke vp his body, and put it in a tombe.
Ce qu’ayant appris, ses disciples vinrent, prirent son corps, et le déposèrent dans un tombeau.
30 And the Apostles gathered themselues together to Iesus, and tolde him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
Or les apôtres s’étant rassemblés auprès de Jésus, lui rendirent compte de tout ce qu’ils avaient fait et enseigné.
31 And he sayd vnto them, Come ye apart into the wildernes, and rest a while: for there were many commers and goers, that they had not leasure to eate.
Et il leur dit: Venez à l’écart en un lieu désert, et vous vous reposerez un peu. Car ceux qui allaient et venaient étaient si nombreux, qu’ils n’avaient pas même le temps de manger.
32 So they went by ship out of the way into a desart place.
Ainsi, montant dans la barque, ils se retirèrent à l’écart, dans un lieu désert.
33 But the people sawe them when they departed, and many knewe him, and ran a foote thither out of all cities, and came thither before them, and assembled vnto him.
Mais beaucoup de gens les ayant vus partir et ayant connu leur dessein, y accoururent à pied de toutes les villes, et y arrivèrent avant eux.
34 Then Iesus went out, and sawe a great multitude, and had compassion on them, because they were like sheepe which had no shepheard: and he began to teach them many things.
Ainsi, en débarquant, Jésus vit une grande multitude, et il en eut compassion, parce qu’ils étaient comme des brebis qui n’ont point de pasteurs, et il commença à leur enseigner beaucoup de choses.
35 And when the day was nowe farre spent, his disciples came vnto him, saying, This is a desart place, and nowe the day is farre passed.
Et comme déjà l’heure était fort avancée, ses disciples s’approchèrent, disant: Ce lieu est désert et il est déjà tard;
36 Let them depart, that they may goe into the countrey and townes about, and buy them bread: for they haue nothing to eate.
Renvoyez-les afin qu’ils aillent dans les villages et les bourgs voisins acheter de quoi manger.
37 But he answered, and said vnto them, Giue yee them to eate. And they said vnto him, Shall we goe, and buy two hundreth peny worth of bread, and giue them to eate?
Mais leur répondant, il dit: Donnez-leur vous mêmes à manger. Et ils lui repartirent: Irons-nous donc acheter pour deux cents deniers de pain afin de leur donner à manger?
38 Then he sayde vnto them, Howe many loaues haue ye? goe and looke. And when they knewe it, they sayd, Fiue, and two fishes.
Alors il leur demanda: Combien avez vous de pains? Allez et voyez. Et lorsqu’ils eurent regardé, ils dirent: Cinq pains et deux poissons.
39 So he commanded them to make them all sit downe by companies vpon the greene grasse.
Il leur commanda donc de les faire tous asseoir par groupes sur l’herbe verte.
40 Then they sate downe by rowes, by hundreds, and by fifties.
Et ils s’assirent par groupes de cent et de cinquante.
41 And he tooke the fiue loaues, and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen, and gaue thanks, and brake the loaues, and gaue them to his disciples to set before them, and the two fishes he deuided among them all.
Alors il prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons, et, levant les yeux au ciel, il les bénit; puis il rompit les pains, et les donna à ses disciples pour les mettre devant la multitude, et il partagea les deux poissons entre tous.
42 So they did all eate, and were satisfied.
Ils en mangèrent, et ils furent rassasiés.
43 And they tooke vp twelue baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
Et ses disciples emportèrent les restes, douze paniers pleins de morceaux et une partie des poissons.
44 And they that had eaten, were about fiue thousand men.
Or ceux qui mangèrent étaient au nombre de cinq mille hommes.
45 And straightway he caused his disciples to goe into the ship, and to goe before vnto the other side vnto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
Et aussitôt il fit monter ses disciples dans la barque, pour le précéder de l’autre côté de la mer, à Bethsaïde, pendant que lui-même renverrait le peuple.
46 Then assoone as he had sent them away, he departed into a mountaine to pray.
Et après qu’il l’eut renvoyé, il s’en alla sur la montagne pour prier.
47 And when euen was come, the ship was in the mids of the sea, and he alone on the land.
Lorsqu’il fut soir, la barque se trouvait au milieu de la mer, et Jésus seul à terre.
48 And he saw them troubled in rowing, (for the winde was contrary vnto them) and about the fourth watch of the night, hee came vnto them, walking vpon the sea, and would haue passed by them.
Et voyant ses disciples qui se fatiguaient à ramer (car le vent leur était contraire), vers la quatrième veille de la nuit, il vint à eux, marchant sur la mer; et il voulait les devancer.
49 And when they saw him walking vpon the sea, they supposed it had bene a spirit, and cried out.
Mais eux, dès qu’ils l’aperçurent marchant sur la mer, crurent que c’était un fantôme, et jetèrent un grand cri.
50 For they all saw him, and were sore afrayd: but anon he talked with them, and said vnto them, Be ye of good comfort: it is I, be not afrayd.
Car tous le virent, et ils furent épouvantés. Mais aussitôt il leur parla, et leur dit: Rassurez-vous, c’est moi; ne craignez point.
51 Then he went vp vnto them into the ship, and the winde ceased, and they were much more amased in them selues, and marueiled.
Et il monta avec eux dans la barque, et le vent cessa, et leur stupeur en devint plus grande:
52 For they had not considered the matter of the loaues, because their hearts were hardened.
Car il n’avaient pas compris ce qui s’était fait à l’égard des pains, parce que leur cœur était aveuglé.
53 And they came ouer, and went into the land of Gennesaret, and arriued.
Et, après avoir traversé la mer, ils vinrent vers la terre de Génézareth et y abordèrent.
54 So when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knewe him,
Et dès qu’ils furent sortis de la barque, les gens du pays reconnurent Jésus.
55 And ran about throughout all that region round about, and began to cary hither and thither in couches all that were sicke, where they heard that he was.
Et parcourant toute la contrée, ils commencèrent à lui apporter de tous côtés, dans leurs grabats, les malades, là où ils entendaient dire qu’il était.
56 And whithersoeuer he entred into townes, or cities, or villages, they laide their sicke in the streetes, and prayed him that they might touch at the least the edge of his garment. And as many as touched him, were made whole.
Et partout où il entrait, dans les bourgs, dans les villages ou dans les villes, on mettait les malades sur les places publiques, et on le suppliait de les laisser seulement toucher la frange de son vêtement; et tous ceux qui le touchaient étaient guéris.
