Mark 4
1 And hee began againe to teache by the sea side, and there gathered vnto him a great multitude, so that hee entred into a shippe, and sate in the sea, and all the people was by the sea side on the land.
Pea toe kamata akonaki ia ʻi he matātahi: pea kuo kātoa kiate ia ʻae fuʻu kakai, ko ia ne heka ai ia ki he vaka, ʻo nofo ʻi tahi: pea naʻe ʻi ʻuta ʻo ofi ki tahi ʻae kakai kotoa pē.
2 And he taught them many things in parables, and said vnto them in his doctrine,
Pea ne akonaki ʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻae meʻa kehekehe ʻi he fakatātā, ʻo ne pehē kiate kinautolu ʻi heʻene akonaki,
3 Hearken: Beholde, there went out a sower to sowe.
“Fanongo; Vakai, naʻe ʻalu atu ʻae tangata tūtuuʻi ke tūtuuʻi:
4 And it came to passe as he sowed, that some fell by the way side, and the foules of the heauen came, and deuoured it vp.
Pea ʻi heʻene tūtuuʻi, naʻe mokulu ʻa e [tenga ]niʻihi ʻi he veʻe hala, pea haʻu ʻae fanga manupuna ʻoe ʻatā, ʻo kai ʻo ʻosi ia.
5 And some fell on stonie grounde, where it had not much earth, and by and by sprang vp, because it had not depth of earth.
Pea mokulu ʻae niʻihi ki he potu makamaka, naʻe siʻi ai ʻae kelekele; pea tupu leva ia, koeʻuhi naʻe ʻikai matolu ʻae kelekele:
6 But assoone as ye Sunne was vp, it was burnt vp, and because it had not roote, it withered away.
Ka ʻi he ʻalu hake ʻae laʻā, naʻe vela ai ia; pea koeʻuhi naʻe ʻikai hano aka, ne mate ia.
7 And some fell among the thornes, and the thornes grewe vp, and choked it, so that it gaue no fruite.
Pea mokulu ʻae niʻihi ki he ʻakau talatala, pea tupu hake ʻae ʻakau talatala, ʻo fakakāsia ia, pea ʻikai ai hano fua.
8 Some againe fell in good grounde, and did yeelde fruite that sprong vp, and grewe, and it brought foorth, some thirtie folde, some sixtie folde, and some an hundreth folde.
Pea mokulu ʻae niʻihi ki he kelekele lelei, pea tupu hake ʻae fua ʻo lahi; ʻo taki tolungofulu ʻae niʻihi, pea taki onongofulu ʻae niʻihi, pea taki teau ʻae niʻihi.”
9 Then he said vnto them, He that hath eares to heare, let him heare.
Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “Ko ia ʻoku telinga ongo, ke ongoʻi ia.”
10 And whe he was alone, they that were about him with the twelue, asked him of ye parable.
Pea kuo tokotaha pe ia, pea ko kinautolu naʻe ʻiate ia mo e toko hongofulu ma toko ua, naʻa nau fehuʻi kiate ia ki he fakatātā.
11 And he saide vnto them, To you it is giuen to knowe the mysterie of the kingdome of God: but vnto them that are without, all thinges bee done in parables,
Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “Kuo tuku kiate kimoutolu ke mou ʻilo ʻae meʻa lilo ʻoe puleʻanga ʻoe ʻOtua: ka ʻoku fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa[ni ]kotoa pē ʻi he fakatātā kiate kinautolu ʻoku ʻituʻa:
12 That they seeing, may see, and not discerne: and they hearing, may heare, and not vnderstand, least at any time they should turne, and their sinnes should be forgiuen them.
Koeʻuhi ‘ʻOku nau ʻā ʻo mamata, kae ʻikai ʻilo; pea ʻoku nau fanongo mo ongo, kae ʻikai tokanga; telia naʻa ʻiloange kuo liliu ai ʻakinautolu, pea fakamolemole ai ʻenau ngaahi hia.’”
13 Againe he said vnto them, Perceiue ye not this parable? howe then should ye vnderstand all other parables?
Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “ʻOku ʻikai te mou ʻilo ʻae fakatātā ni? Pea te mou ʻilo fēfē ʻae ngaahi fakatātā kotoa pē?
14 The sower soweth the worde.
Ko e tangata tūtuuʻi ʻoku ne tūtuuʻi ʻae folofola.
15 And these are they that receiue the seede by the wayes side, in whome the worde is sowen: but when they haue heard it, Satan commeth immediatly, and taketh away the worde that was sowen in their heartes.
Ko kinautolu eni ʻi he veʻe hala, ʻaia ʻoku tūtuuʻi ki ai ʻae folofola; pea kuo nau fanongo, pea haʻu leva ʻa Sētane, ʻo ʻave ʻae folofola naʻe tūtuuʻi ki honau loto.
16 And likewise they that receiue the seede in stony ground, are they, which whe they haue heard the word, straightwayes receiue it with gladnesse.
Pea ko kinautolu eni foki kuo tūtuuʻi ʻi he potu makaʻia; ʻi heʻenau fanongo ki he folofola ʻoku nau maʻu leva ia ʻi he fiefia;
17 Yet haue they no roote in themselues, and endure but a time: for when trouble and persecution ariseth for the worde, immediatly they be offended.
Ka ʻoku ʻikai ha aka ʻiate kinautolu, ko ia ʻoku nau maʻu ai [ia ]ʻo fuonounou: pea ka tupu ʻae mamahi pe ʻae fakatanga, koeʻuhi ko e folofola, ʻoku hinga leva ʻakinautolu.
18 Also they that receiue the seede among the thornes, are such as heare the word:
Pea ko kinautolu eni kuo tūtuuʻi ki he ʻakau talatala; ʻoku nau fanongo ki he folofola,
19 But the cares of this world, and the deceitfulnes of riches, and the lustes of other things enter in, and choke the word, and it is vnfruitfull. (aiōn g165)
Ka ko e tokanga ki māmani, mo e kākā ʻoe koloa, mo e hū ʻae holi lahi ki he ngaahi meʻa kehekehe, ʻoku kāsia ai ʻae folofola, pea taʻefua ai ia. (aiōn g165)
20 But they that haue receiued seede in good ground, are they that heare the worde, and receiue it, and bring foorth fruite: one corne thirtie, another sixtie, and some an hundreth.
Pea ko kinautolu eni kuo tūtuuʻi ki he kelekele lelei; ʻoku nau fanongo ki he folofola, pea maʻu [ia], pea tupu ai ʻae fua, ko e taki tolungofulu ʻae niʻihi, pea taki onongofulu ʻae niʻihi, pea taki teau ʻae niʻihi.”
21 Also he saide vnto them, Commeth the candle in, to be put vnder a bushell, or vnder the bed, and not to be put on a candlesticke?
Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “ʻOku ʻomi koā ha maama ke tuku ʻi he lalo puha fua, pe ʻi lalo mohenga? Kae ʻikai ke fokotuʻu ki he tuʻunga maama?
22 For there is nothing hid, that shall not be opened: neither is there a secret, but that it shall come to light.
He ʻoku ʻikai ha meʻa ʻoku ʻufiʻufi, ʻe taʻefakahā; pea ʻoku ʻikai ha meʻa fakalilolilo, ʻe taʻeʻiloa.
23 If any man haue eares to heare, let him heare.
Ko e tangata ko ia ʻoku telinga ongo, ke ongoʻi ia.”
24 And he said vnto them, Take heede what ye heare. With what measure ye mete, it shall be measured vnto you: and vnto you that heare, shall more be giuen.
Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “Tokanga ki he meʻa ʻoku mou fanongo ki ai: he ko e meʻa fuofua te mou fua ʻaki, ʻe [toe ]fua ʻaki kiate kimoutolu: pea ʻe foaki fakalahi kiate kimoutolu ʻoku tokanga.
25 For vnto him that hath, shall it be giuen, and from him that hath not, shall be taken away, euen that he hath.
He ko ia ʻoku ne maʻu, ʻe [toe ]foaki kiate ia: pea ko ia ʻoku ʻikai ke maʻu, ʻe toʻo meiate ia ʻaia ʻoku ne maʻu.”
26 Also he said, So is the kingdome of God, as if a man should cast seede in the ground,
Pea pehē ʻe ia, “Ko e puleʻanga ʻoe ʻOtua ʻoku tatau mo e tenga naʻe lī ʻe ha tangata ki he kelekele;
27 And shoulde sleepe, and rise vp night and day, and the seede should spring and growe vp, he not knowing howe.
Pea mohe ia, mo tuʻu hake, ʻi he pō mo e ʻaho, pea moʻui ʻae tenga ʻo tupu hake, ʻoku ʻikai te ne ʻilo pe ʻoku fēfē.
28 For the earth bringeth foorth fruite of it selfe, first the blade, then the eares, after that full corne in the eares.
He ʻoku tupu ʻi he kelekele ʻae fua ʻoʻona pe; ko e ʻuluaki ko e muka, pea hoko mo e fua, pea toki hoko mo e uite kuo motuʻa.
29 And assoone as the fruite sheweth it selfe, anon hee putteth in the sickle, because the haruest is come.
Pea ka motuʻa ʻae fua, ʻoku ne ʻai leva ʻae hele tuʻusi, koeʻuhi kuo hoko ʻae ututaʻu.
30 He saide moreouer, Whereunto shall wee liken the kingdome of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
“Pea pehē ʻe ia, Te tau fakatatau ki he hā ʻae puleʻanga ʻoe ʻOtua? Pe ko e hā ha fakatātā te tau fakatatau ia ki ai?
31 It is like a graine of mustarde seede, which when it is sowen in the earth, is the least of all seedes that be in the earth:
ʻOku tatau ia mo e tengaʻi musita, ʻaia ʻoka tūtuuʻi ki he kelekele, ʻoku siʻi taha pe ʻi he ngaahi tenga kotoa pē ʻoku ʻi he kelekele:
32 But after that it is sowen, it groweth vp, and is greatest of all herbes, and beareth great branches, so that the foules of heauen may builde vnder the shadow of it.
Ka kuo tūtuuʻi ia, pea tupu hake, ʻo hoko ʻo lahi ʻi he faʻahinga [ʻakau ]iiki kotoa pē, pea tupu ia ʻo vaʻavaʻa lalahi: ko ia ʻoku faʻa nofo ʻae fanga manu ʻoe ʻatā ʻi hono malumalu.”
33 And with many such parables he preached the word vnto them, as they were able to heare it.
Pea ʻi he ngaahi fakatātā pehē ʻo lahi, naʻa ne lea ʻaki ʻae lea kiate kinautolu, ʻo fakatatau ki heʻenau faʻa fanongo.
34 And without parables spake hee nothing vnto them: but he expounded all thinges to his disciples apart.
Pea naʻe ʻikai te ne lea kiate kinautolu ka ʻi he fakatātā pe: pea [ʻi heʻenau nonofo ]ko kinautolu pe, naʻa ne fakamatala ʻae meʻa kotoa pē ki heʻene kau ākonga.
35 Nowe the same day when euen was come, he saide vnto them, Let vs passe ouer vnto the other side.
Pea kuo efiafi ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, naʻa ne pehē kiate kinautolu, “Ke tau ō ki he kauvai ʻe taha.”
36 And they left the multitude, and tooke him as he was in the shippe, and there were also with him other little shippes.
Pea kuo nau fekau ke ʻalu ʻae kakai, pea nau ʻave ia ʻi heʻene kei ʻi he vaka. Pea naʻe folau mo ia ʻae ngaahi vaka iiki.
37 And there arose a great storme of winde, and the waues dashed into the shippe, so that it was now full.
Pea naʻe tupu ʻae fuʻu matangi lahi, pea feʻohofi ʻae ngaahi peau ki he vaka, pea ngoto ai.
38 And he was in the sterne asleepe on a pillow: and they awoke him, and saide to him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
Pea naʻa ne ʻi he taumuli ʻoe vaka, ʻo mohe ki he ʻolunga: pea naʻa nau fafangu ia, ʻo pehē kiate ia, “ʻEiki, ʻoku ʻikai te ke tokangaʻi te tau mate?”
39 And hee rose vp, and rebuked the winde, and saide vnto the sea, Peace, and be still. So the winde ceased, and it was a great calme.
Pea tuʻu hake ia, ʻo lolomi ʻae matangi, mo ne pehē ki he tahi, “Fiemālie, pea ke tokalelei.” Pea naʻe malū ʻae matangi, ʻo mātuʻaki tofukī.
40 Then he saide vnto them, Why are ye so fearefull? how is it that ye haue no faith?
Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “Ko e hā ʻoku mou manavasiʻi pehē ai? Ko e hā ʻoku ʻikai ai haʻamou tui?”
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who is this, that both the winde and sea obey him?
Pea naʻa nau manavahē lahi ʻaupito, mo nau fepehēʻaki, “Ko hai ʻae tangata ni, ke talangofua pehē ʻae matangi mo e tahi kiate ia?”
