Mark 10
1 And he arose from thence, and went into the coastes of Iudea by the farre side of Iordan, and the people resorted vnto him againe, and as he was wont, he taught them againe.
Partant de là, il vint aux confins de la Judée, au-delà du Jourdain; et le peuple s’assembla de nouveau près de lui, et, selon sa coutume, il recommença à les instruire.
2 Then the Pharises came and asked him, if it were lawfull for a man to put away his wife, and tempted him.
Et les pharisiens s’approchant, lui demandèrent s’il est permis à un homme de renvoyer sa femme; c’était pour le tenter.
3 And he answered, and sayde vnto them, What did Moses commaund you?
Mais Jésus répondant, leur dit: Que vous a ordonné Moïse?
4 And they sayd, Moses suffered to write a bill of diuorcement, and to put her away.
Ils répliquèrent: Moïse a permis d’écrire un acte de répudiation, et de la renvoyer.
5 Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, For the hardnesse of your heart he wrote this precept vnto you.
Jésus leur répondant, dit: C’est à cause de la dureté de votre cœur, qu’il vous a écrit ce précepte.
6 But at the beginning of the creation God made them male and female:
Mais au commencement de la création, Dieu fit un homme et une femme.
7 For this cause shall man leaue his father and mother, and cleaue vnto his wife.
C’est pourquoi l’homme quittera son père et sa mère, et s’attachera à sa femme;
8 And they twaine shalbe one flesh: so that they are no more twaine, but one flesh.
Et ils seront deux dans une seule chair. Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair.
9 Therefore, what God hath coupled together, let not man separate.
Ce que Dieu donc a uni, que l’homme ne le sépare point.
10 And in the house his disciples asked him againe of that matter.
Dans la maison, ses disciples l’interrogèrent encore sur le même sujet.
11 And he sayd vnto them, Whosoeuer shall put away his wife and marrie another, committeth adulterie against her.
Et il leur dit: Quiconque renvoie sa femme et en épouse une autre, commet un adultère à l’égard de celle-là.
12 And if a woman put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adulterie.
Et si une femme quitte son mari et en épouse un autre, elle se rend adultère.
13 Then they brought litle children to him, that he should touch them, and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
Cependant on lui présentait de petits enfants pour qu’il les touchât. Mais ses disciples menaçaient ceux qui les présentaient.
14 But when Iesus sawe it, he was displeased, and said to them, Suffer the litle children to come vnto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdome of God.
Jésus, les voyant, fut indigné, et leur dit: Laissez ces petits enfants venir à moi, et ne les en empêchez point; car à de tels est le royaume de Dieu.
15 Verely I say vnto you, Whosoeuer shall not receiue the kingdome of God as a litle childe, he shall not enter therein.
En vérité, je vous le dis: Quiconque n’aura point reçu le royaume de Dieu comme un petit enfant, n’y entrera point.
16 And he tooke them vp in his armes, and put his hands vpon them, and blessed them.
Et les embrassant et imposant les mains sur eux, il les bénissait.
17 And when hee was gone out on the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I doe, that I may possesse eternall life? (aiōnios g166)
Comme il se mettait en chemin, quelqu’un accourant et fléchissant le genou, lui demanda: Bon maître, que ferai-je pour avoir la vie éternelle? (aiōnios g166)
18 Iesus sayde to him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, euen God.
Jésus lui répondit: Pourquoi m’appelles-tu bon? Nul n’est bon, que Dieu seul.
19 Thou knowest the comandements, Thou shalt not commit adulterie. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not steale. Thou shalt not beare false witnesse. Thou shalt hurt no man. Honour thy father and mother.
Tu connais les commandements: Ne commets point d’adultère; ne tue point; ne dérobe point; ne rends point de faux témoignage; ne fais point de fraude; honore ton père et ta, mère.
20 Then he answered, and said to him, Master, all these things I haue obserued from my youth.
Mais le jeune homme reprenant la parole, lui dit: Maître, j’ai observé tous ces préceptes dès ma jeunesse.
21 And Iesus looked vpon him, and loued him, and sayde vnto him, One thing is lacking vnto thee. Go and sell all that thou hast, and giue to the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come, follow me, and take vp the crosse.
Jésus, l’ayant regardé, l’aima, et lui dit: Une seule chose te manque; va, vends tout ce que tu as, donne-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans le ciel: puis viens et suis-moi.
22 But hee was sad at that saying, and went away sorowfull: for he had great possessions.
Mais, affligé de cette parole, il s’en alla triste, car il avait de grands biens.
23 And Iesus looked round about, and sayd vnto his disciples, Howe hardly doe they that haue riches, enter into the kingdome of God!
Alors Jésus regardant autour de lui, dit à ses disciples: Qu’il est difficile que ceux qui ont des richesses entrent dans le royaume de Dieu!
24 And his disciples were afraide at his words. But Iesus answered againe, and sayd vnto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdome of God!
Or ses disciples étaient tout étonnés de ce discours; mais Jésus prenant de nouveau la parole, leur dit: Mes enfants bien-aimés, qu’il est difficile à ceux qui se confient dans les richesses, d’entrer dans le royaume de Dieu!
25 It is easier for a camel to goe through the eye of a needle, then for a riche man to enter into the kingdome of God.
Il est plus facile à un chameau de passer par le chas d’une aiguille, qu’à un riche d’entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.
26 And they were much more astonied, saying with themselues, Who then can be saued?
Et ils demeuraient encore plus étonnés, se disant l’un à l’autre: Et qui peut donc être sauvé?
27 But Iesus looked vpon them, and sayd, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Mais Jésus les regardant, dit: Aux hommes, cela est impossible, mais non pas à Dieu; car tout est possible à Dieu.
28 Then Peter began to say vnto him, Loe, we haue forsaken all, and haue folowed thee.
Alors Pierre se mit à lui dire: Voici que nous avons, nous, tout quitté pour vous suivre;
29 Iesus answered, and sayd, Verely I say vnto you, there is no man that hath forsaken house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my sake and the Gospels,
Jésus répondant, dit: En vérité, je vous le dis, nul n’aura quitté maison, ou frères, ou sœurs, ou père, ou mère, ou fils, ou terres à cause de moi et à cause de l’Evangile,
31 But many that are first, shall be last, and the last, first.
Mais beaucoup de premiers seront les derniers, et beaucoup de derniers, les premiers.
32 And they were in the way going vp to Hierusalem, and Iesus went before them and they were troubled, and as they followed, they were afraide, and Iesus tooke the twelue againe, and began to tell them what things should come vnto him,
Or ils étaient en chemin pour monter à Jérusalem; Jésus marchait devant eux, et ils en étaient tout étonnés, et ils le suivaient pleins de crainte. Et prenant encore à part les douze, il commença à leur dire ce qui devait lui arriver.
33 Saying, Beholde, we goe vp to Hierusalem, and the Sonne of man shall be deliuered vnto the hie Priests, and to the Scribes, and they shall condemne him to death, and shall deliuer him to the Gentiles.
Voilà que nous montons à Jérusalem, et le Fils de l’homme sera livré aux princes des prêtres, aux scribes et aux anciens; ils le condamneront à mort, et le livreront aux gentils;
34 And they shall mocke him, and scourge him, and spit vpon him, and kill him: but the third day he shall rise againe.
Et ils l’insulteront, cracheront sur lui, le flagelleront, et le tueront; et le troisième jour il ressuscitera.
35 Then Iames and Iohn the sonnes of Zebedeus came vnto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest doe for vs that we desire.
Alors s’approchèrent de lui Jacques et Jean, fils de Zébédée, disant: Maître, nous voudrions que tout ce que nous vous demanderons, vous le fissiez pour nous.
36 And he sayd vnto them, What would ye I should doe for you?
Mais il leur répondit: Que voulez-vous que je fasse pour vous?
37 And they said to him, Graunt vnto vs, that we may sit, one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy glory.
Et ils dirent: Accordez-nous que nous soyons assis l’un à votre droite et l’autre à votre gauche, dans votre gloire,
38 But Iesus sayd vnto them, Ye knowe not what ye aske. Can ye drinke of the cup that I shall drinke of, and be baptized with the baptisme that I shall be baptized with?
Mais Jésus leur dit: Vous ne savez ce que vous demandez: pouvez-vous boire le calice que je bois, ou être baptisés du baptême dont je suis baptisé?
39 And they said vnto him, We can. But Iesus sayd vnto them, Ye shall drinke in deede of the cup that I shall drinke of, and be baptized with the baptisme wherewith I shalbe baptized:
Ils lui répondirent: Nous le pouvons. Mais Jésus leur dit: À la vérité, le calice que je bois, vous le boirez, et vous serez baptisés du baptême dont je suis baptisé;
40 But to sit at my right hand, and at my left, is not mine to giue, but it shalbe giuen to them for whome it is prepared.
Mais d’être assis à ma droite ou à ma gauche, il ne m’appartient pas de vous l’accorder à vous, mais à ceux à qui il a été préparé.
41 And when the ten heard that, they began to disdaine at Iames and Iohn.
Or, entendant cela, les dix s’indignèrent contre Jacques et Jean.
42 But Iesus called them vnto him, and sayd to them, Ye know that they which are princes among the Gentiles, haue domination ouer them, and they that be great among them, exercise authoritie ouer them.
Mais Jésus les appelant, dit: Vous savez que ceux qui passent pour régner sur les nations, les dominent, et que leurs princes ont puissance sur elles.
43 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoeuer will be great among you, shall be your seruant.
Il n’en est pas ainsi parmi vous; mais quiconque voudra devenir le plus grand, sera votre serviteur;
44 And whosoeuer will be chiefe of you, shall be the seruant of all.
Et quiconque voudra être le premier parmi vous, sera le serviteur de tous.
45 For euen the Sonne of man came not to be serued, but to serue, and to giue his life for the raunsome of many.
Car le Fils de l’homme même n’est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir, et donner sa vie pour la rédemption d’un grand nombre.
46 Then they came to Iericho: and as he went out of Iericho with his disciples, and a great multitude, Bartimeus the sonne of Timeus, a blinde man, sate by the wayes side, begging.
Ils vinrent ensuite à Jéricho; et comme il partait de Jéricho avec ses disciples et avec une grande multitude, le fils de Timée, Bartimée l’aveugle, qui était assis sur le bord du chemin, demandant l’aumône,
47 And when hee heard that it was Iesus of Nazareth, he began to crye, and to say, Iesus the Sonne of Dauid, haue mercy on me.
Ayant entendu que c’était Jésus de Nazareth, se mit à crier, disant: Jésus, fils de David, ayez pitié de moi!
48 And many rebuked him, because he should holde his peace: but hee cryed much more, O Sonne of Dauid, haue mercy on me.
Nombre de personnes le menaçaient pour le faire taire; mais lui criait beaucoup plus encore: Fils de David, ayez pitié de moi!
49 Then Iesus stood still, and commanded him to be called: and they called the blind, saying vnto him, Be of good comfort: arise, he calleth thee.
Alors Jésus, s’arrêtant, ordonna qu’on l’appelât. On appela donc l’aveugle en lui disant: Aie confiance, lève-toi, il t’appelle.
50 So he threwe away his cloke, and rose, and came to Iesus.
Celui-ci, jetant son manteau, s’élança et vint à Jésus.
51 And Iesus answered, and said vnto him, What wilt thou that I doe vnto thee? And the blinde sayd vnto him, Lord, that I may receiue sight.
Et Jésus lui demanda: Que veux-tu que je te fasse? L’aveugle lui répondit: Maître, que je voie.
52 Then Iesus sayde vnto him, Goe thy way: thy fayth hath saued thee. And by and by, he receiued his sight, and folowed Iesus in the way.
Va, lui dit Jésus, ta foi t’a guéri. Et aussitôt il vit, et il le suivait dans le chemin.
