Luke 4
1 And Iesus full of the holy Ghost returned from Iordan, and was led by that Spirit into the wildernes,
Jésus, rempli de l'Esprit saint, revint des bords du Jourdain; l'Esprit le poussait au désert.
2 And was there fourtie dayes tempted of the deuil, and in those dayes he did eate nothing: but when they were ended, he afterward was hungry.
Il y passa quarante jours; il était tenté par le diable. Durant ces quarante jours, il ne mangea rien, et quand ils furent achevés, il eut faim.
3 Then the deuil saide vnto him, If thou be the Sonne of God, commaund this stone that it be made bread.
Le diable lui dit: «Si tu es Fils de Dieu, dis à cette pierre de se changer en pain»;
4 But Iesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not liue by bread only, but by euery word of God.
et, Jésus lui répondit: «Il est écrit: «Ce n'est pas de pain seulement que vivra l'homme.»
5 Then the deuill tooke him vp into an high mountaine, and shewed him all the kingdomes of the world, in the twinkeling of an eye.
Puis le diable l'emmena, et lui montrant en un instant tous les royaumes de la terre:
6 And the deuill saide vnto him, All this power will I giue thee, and the glory of those kingdomes: for that is deliuered to mee: and to whomsoeuer I will, I giue it.
«Je te donnerai, lui dit-il, toute cette puissance et la gloire de ces royaumes, car elfe m'a été livrée, et je la donne à qui je veux.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship mee, they shalbe all thine.
Donc, prosterne-toi en adoration devant moi et tout cela est à toi.»
8 But Iesus answered him, and saide, Hence from mee, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him alone thou shalt serue.
Et Jésus lui fit cette réponse: «Il est écrit: «Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu et c'est à lui seul que tu rendras un culte.»
9 Then hee brought him to Hierusalem, and set him on a pinacle of the Temple, and said vnto him, If thou be the Sonne of God, cast thy selfe downe from hence,
Le menant à Jérusalem, le diable le plaça sur le faîte du Temple et lui dit: «Si tu es Fils de Dieu, jette-toi d'ici en bas,
10 For it is written, That hee will giue his Angels charge ouer thee to keepe thee:
car il est écrit: «A ses anges il donnera l'ordre de te garder
11 And with their handes they shall lift thee vp, least at any time thou shouldest dash thy foote against a stone.
Et de te soutenir de leurs mains, De peur que ton pied ne se heurte contre une pierre.»
12 And Iesus answered, and said vnto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Jésus lui répondit par ces mots: «Il est dit: «Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur ton Dieu.»
13 And when the deuil had ended all the tentation, he departed from him for a litle season.
Toute espèce de tentation étant achevée, te diable s'éloigna de lai, jusqu'à une autre occasion.
14 And Iesus returned by the power of the spirite into Galile: and there went a fame of him throughout all the region round about.
Puissant par l'Esprit, Jésus retourna en Galilée; sa renommée se répandit dans toute la contrée;
15 For he taught in their Synagogues, and was honoured of all men.
il enseignait dans les synagogues du pays et tous célébraient ses louanges.
16 And hee came to Nazareth where hee had bene brought vp, and (as his custome was) went into the Synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stoode vp to reade.
Étant allé à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé, il entra dans la synagogue le jour du sabbat, selon sa coutume, et il se leva pour faire la lecture.
17 And there was deliuered vnto him the booke of the Prophet Esaias: and when hee had opened the booke, hee founde the place, where it was written,
On lui présenta le livre du prophète Ésaïe. Il l'ouvrit et trouva un passage où il était écrit:
18 The Spirit of the Lord is vpon mee, because he hath anoynted me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poore: he hath sent mee, that I should heale the broken hearted, that I should preach deliuerance to the captiues, and recouering of sight to the blinde, that I should set at libertie them that are bruised:
«L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi; m'a consacré par son onction pour annoncer l'Évangile aux pauvres, Il m'a envoyé pour annoncer aux captifs leur délivrance, Aux aveugles qu'ils vont recevoir la vue, Pour renvoyer les opprimés affranchis,
19 And that I should preache the acceptable yeere of the Lord.
Pour annoncer une année de faveur de la part du Seigneur.
20 And hee closed the booke, and gaue it againe to the minister, and sate downe: and the eyes of all that were in the Synagogue were fastened on him.
Il ferma le livre, le rendit au servant et s'assit. Tout le monde, dans la synagogue, avait les yeux fixés sur lui.
21 Then he began to say vnto them, This day is the Scripture fulfilled in your eares.
Il commença ainsi: «Aujourd'hui s'accomplit ce passage de l'Écriture que vous venez d'entendre...»
22 And all bare him witnes, and wondered at the gracious wordes, which proceeded out of his mouth, and said, Is not this Iosephs sonne?
Tous lui rendaient témoignage et étaient ravis des paroles de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche. «N'est-ce pas là, disait-on, le fils de Joseph?» —
23 Then he said vnto them, Ye will surely say vnto mee this prouerbe, Physician, heale thy selfe: whatsoeuer we haue heard done in Capernaum, doe it here likewise in thine owne countrey.
«Vous irez jusqu'à m'appliquer ce proverbe, reprit-il: Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même. Tout ce que tu as fait à Capharnaüm et dont nous avons entendu parler, fais-le donc également ici même dans ta patrie.»
24 And he saide, Verely I say vnto you, No Prophet is accepted in his owne countrey.
Puis il ajouta: «Je vous le dis en vérité, nul prophète n'est accepté dans sa patrie.
25 But I tell you of a trueth, many widowes were in Israel in the dayes of Elias, when heauen was shut three yeres and sixe moneths, when great famine was throughout all the land:
Il y avait, aux jours d'Élie, ce que je vous dis là est la vérité, beaucoup de veuves en Israël, lorsque le ciel fut fermé pendant trois ans et demi, et qu'il y eut une grande famine sur toute la terre;
26 But vnto none of them was Elias sent, saue into Sarepta, a citie of Sidon, vnto a certaine widowe.
et cependant Élie ne fut envoyé à aucune d'elles, mais bien à une veuve de Sarepta, dans le pays de Sidon.
27 Also many lepers were in Israel, in the time of Eliseus the Prophet: yet none of them was made cleane, sauing Naaman the Syrian.
Il y avait aussi, en Israël, beaucoup de lépreux au temps du prophète Élisée, et cependant aucun d'eux ne fut guéri. Celui qui fut guéri ce fut un Syrien: Naaman.»
28 Then all that were in the Synagogue, when they heard it, were filled with wrath,
Ces paroles remplirent de colère tous ceux qui étaient dans la synagogue.
29 And rose vp, and thrust him out of the citie, and led him vnto the edge of the hil, whereon their citie was built, to cast him downe headlong.
Ils se levèrent et ils le chassèrent hors de la cité; puis ils le menèrent jusqu'au sommet de la montagne sur laquelle leur ville avait été bâtie, pour le jeter en bas.
30 But he passed through the middes of them, and went his way,
Mais lui, passant au, milieu d'eux, s'en alla
31 And came downe into Capernaum a citie of Galile, and there taught them on the Sabbath dayes.
et descendit à Capharnaüm, ville de Galilée. Il y enseignait aux jours de sabbat.
32 And they were astonied at his doctrine: for his worde was with authoritie.
Et ils étaient extrêmement frappés de son enseignement, car sa parole était pleine d'autorité
33 And in the Synagogue there was a man which had a spirit of an vncleane deuill, which cryed with a loude voyce,
Dans la synagogue il y avait un homme possédé de l'Esprit d'un démon impur. Il se mit à jeter de grands cris:
34 Saying, Oh, what haue we to doe with thee, thou Iesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy vs? I know who thou art, euen the holy one of God.
«Ah! qu'y a-t-il entre nous et toi, Jésus de Nazareth? Tu es venu pour nous perdre; je sais qui tu es: le Saint de Dieu!»
35 And Iesus rebuked him, saying, Holde thy peace, and come out of him. Then the deuill throwing him in the middes of them, came out of him, and hurt him nothing at all.
Jésus alors le menaça: «Tais-toi, dit-il, sors de cet homme!» Le renversant par terre au milieu de l'assemblée, le démon sortit de lui sans lui faire aucun mal.
36 So feare came on them all, and they spake among themselues, saying, What thing is this: for with authoritie and power he commaundeth the foule spirits, and they come out?
Tous furent terrifiés, et ils se parlaient les uns aux autres: «Qu'est-ce donc, disaient-ils, que cette parole? Il commande avec autorité et puissance aux Esprits impurs, et ils sortent!»
37 And ye fame of him spred abroad throughout all the places of the countrey round about.
Dans tout le pays environnant il n'était bruit que de lui.
38 And he rose vp, and came out of the Synagogue, and entred into Simons house. And Simons wiues mother was taken with a great feuer, and they required him for her.
En sortant de la synagogue, il entra dans la maison de Simon. Or, la belle-mère de Simon était malade d'une forte fièvre. On implora Jésus en sa faveur.
39 Then he stoode ouer her, and rebuked the feuer, and it left her, and immediatly she arose, and ministred vnto them.
Il se pencha vers elle, commanda à la fièvre, et la fièvre disparut. Immédiatement cette femme se leva et se mit à les servir.
40 Now at the sunne setting, all they that had sicke folkes of diuers diseases, brought them vnto him, and he layd his hands on euery one of them, and healed them.
Après le coucher du soleil, tous ceux qui avaient des malades, quels que fussent leurs maux, les lui amenèrent. Imposant les mains à chacun d'eux, Jésus les guérit.
41 And deuils also came out of many, crying, and saying, Thou art that Christ that Sonne of God: but he rebuked them, and suffered them not to say that they knewe him to be that Christ.
Des démons sortaient aussi d'un grand nombre, en s'écriant: «Tu es le Fils de Dieu!» Mais il les menaçait et leur défendait de parler ainsi; car ils savaient qu'il était le Christ.
42 And when it was day, he departed, and went foorth into a desart place, and the people sought him, and came to him, and kept him that he should not depart from them.
Lorsqu'il fit jour, il sortit et s'en alla dans un lieu solitaire. Les multitudes se mirent à sa recherche; elles arrivèrent jusqu'à, lui et elles le retenaient, ne voulant point qu'il les quittât.
43 But he sayd vnto them, Surely I must also preach the kingdome of God to other cities: for therefore am I sent.
Mais il leur dit: «Il me faut annoncer dans d'autres villes aussi l'Évangile du Royaume de Dieu, car c'est pour cela que j'ai été envoyé.»
44 And hee preached in the Synagogues of Galile.
Et il prêchait dans les synagogues de la Galilée.
